i just feel like he is over doing it and pounding out shit tunes for the sake of making another buck.  bruce could do better.  that lucky day song is just a wall of noise to me.....pretty much garbage.

don't get me wrong people.  i love a lot of bruce's older stuff and have seen him about 20 times, but this air fist pounding sing along stuff is getting old.

I need Help finding a Bruce Springsteen Christmas Song. My Father In Law, asked my my wife to get him a copy of a Christmas song done by Bruce he heard last year.
I said the first thing that came to my mind, "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town", But that was not it. He said he had never heard anyone else do it, so that rules out Merry Christmas Baby. Does anyone know of a Christmas song by Bruce other than these 2?

'The Wish' - not exactly a Christmas song, but it does include a Christmas reference.

Dirty old street all slushed up in the rain and snow
Little boy and his ma shivering outside a rundown music store window
That night on top of a Christmas tree shines one beautiful star
And lying underneath a brand-new Japanese guitar

Great song, btw.

Definitely.

In Nashville Bruce told that Christmas story in his "God damn guitar" rap during 'Growing Up'.

I'd go further and say it's one of the dozen best songs he's ever recorded. I could listen to that guitar/keyboard coda at the end for hours. Listening to that song reinforces my opinion that it's a waste that he never recorded a country album.

As lefty says above, its definitely about his mum. Recorded for "Tunnel of Love" in 1987 but probably left off the album as it didnt fit in with the theme of that record. First played at the Christic Institute benefit shows in LA in 1990 and then on the Ghost of Tom Joad solo tour in 1995-96. Think I saw what was probably about the 3rd or 4th live version of it. He eventually released it on the 4-CD "Tracks" box set in 1998

Billboard Bits: Bruce Springsteen, Faith Hill & More
Bruce Springsteen

December 08, 2008 04:54 PM ET

Bruce Springsteen's new album leads off with one of his longest studio songs in decades. "Outlaw Pete" is eight minutes long, setting the table for "Working on a Dream," due Jan. 27 from Columbia.

Other tracks from the project get in and out much quicker, including "Tomorrow Never Knows" (2:14) and "What Love Can Do" (2:57). Late E Street Band member Danny Federici, who died in April, plays on the album, as does his son Jason.

"Working on a Dream" will be available on vinyl and in a deluxe edition featuring a DVD with 38-minutes of behind-the-scenes studio footage.

New album cover is horrible. It's like something you'd see on a Perry Como Christmas album.

Latest info on the tour seems to suggest that, contrary to previous plans to start in Europe just after the Superbowl, that it will start in the US a few weeks later and THEN go to Europe.

Changes to Conan O'Brien's schedule re: the timing of his departure from his NBC show appear to mean that Max Weinberg will be required for a bit longer. Hopefully this might mean that the tour might run on for longer than what was originally rumoured

Two little bits of news from Backstreets

THE WRESTLER" IS GOLDEN
Hot on the heels of Springsteen's two Grammy nominations for "Girls in Their Summer Clothes," "The Wrestler" has just garnered a Golden Globe nomination for "Best Original Song - Motion Picture." Springsteen's title song for the Darren Aronofsky film puts him up against Peter Gabriel (Wall-E), Clint Eastwood (Gran Torino), Miley Cyrus (Bolt), and Beyonce (Cadillac Records). The Golden Globe Awards, given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, air live on January 11, 2009, on NBC. Can an Oscar nod be far behind?

TOUR NOTES: 2008 RAKES IT IN, 2009 GLASTO RUMORS SWIRL
Springsteen and the E Street Band came in at number two on the list of 2008 Top Grossing Tours as reported to Billboard Boxscore -- second only to fellow New Jerseyans Bon Jovi (cue gritting of teeth from various corners). Bon Jovi at $210.6 million and Springsteen at $204.5 mil sit atop Madonna, the Police, Celine Dion, Kenny Chesney, Neil Diamond, the reuinted Spice Girls, the Eagles, and Rascall Flatts.

The annual Bruce-at-Glastonbury rumors are making the rounds once again, with Pollstar.com reporting Springsteen as "expected to headline next year’s Glastonbury Festival." Planetrock.com also puts the rumor out there, saying that Bruce "is being hotly tipped to play the Sunday night of the festival..." rightly going on to point out: "It has to be said that these are simply rumours and that there is literally no evidence to support them, and Springsteen has been tipped to be playing the festival for three years running."

dont expect a tour announcement until january. As said above, the original plans to tour immediately after the Superbowl have been scrapped and the tour will start a few weeks later than originally planned - but in America.
