Well this is from Backstreets.com Grin

RUNNIN' DOWN TO TAMPA?
The internet's abuzz with the rumor that Springsteen and the E Street Band will be playing the next Super Bowl half-time show, after the New York Post ran with the news this morning (attributed to "sources" and "a spy"). Don't be surprised if it turns out to be for real -- the NFL has been courting Springsteen for some time now, and several other, er, sources, are telling us that Mike Appel's dream gig is finally going to come true. But it ain't official yet. If/when it's solid, we'll report it right here.

As long as we're addressing speculation, we've got a spy of our own who swears he's seen the setlist Bruce has written up for the occasion:

    * The Line
    * Drive All Night
    * Loose Ends
    * Cover Me
    * Protection
    * Trapped
    * No Surrender
    * You'll Be Comin' Down
    * A Good Man is Hard to Find (Pittsburgh)
    * Medley: Super Bowl Shuffle / E Street Shuffle
    * and of course, Born to Run.

You heard it here first.

Two things we know for sure. One: Super Bowl XLIII is set for February 1, 2009, in Tampa. And two: if Clarence Clemons decides to have a wardrobe malfunction, nobody's going to stop him.

Well it could be worse than Bruce Springsteen for halftime entertainment. The NFL just announced that Keith Urban and Usher will be playing the kickoff celebration for the 1st game of the year on Sept.4....Yeah I'll take Bruce anyday...and twice on Sunday. really?

True, but that doesnt disguise its naffness.

Great artists like the Stones and Bruce as a side show for 70,000 people who are there to see something else entirely? Yuck.

Leave that to Up With People.

well I can do without Usher...

but Keith Urban is actually a great country rocker..I'd say he is actually more rock n' roll than country, except for the abundance of his sappy ballads I love...
Think he might have taken some lessons from Bruce? Wink

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwqJwWLFyRY

But anyway, it is sad that these musicians have to sell themselves to the NFL to make a buck...

Why Bruce is doing it puzzles me..other than maybe they (being the musicians)  really do think it is a honor to be asked!   you made a grown man cry

Yep he did..

I've seen Keith 3 times live, once before he made it to the "big time" and he has all the "bruce" qualities when performing live. and what a guitar player he is..

Springsteen offspring headed to BC
By Inside Track  |   Tuesday, August 12, 2008  |  http://www.bostonherald.com ; |  The Inside Track

Bruce Springsteen may be rockin’ the halftime show at Super Bowl XLIII, but did you know the Boss’ bookish boy, Evan, is due to start his Glory Days at Boston College over Labor Day Weekend?

That’s the buzz from the Heights, where Springsteen and Patti Scialfa’s oldest will enter his freshman year.

“He’s a super-nice kid, very bright, humble, and a serious-minded student,” said one of our campus spies. “His parents seem to be very involved, too.”

In fact, we’re told when the Springsteen clan came to tour the school earlier this year, Bruce, Patti and Evan refused to play the celebrity card and cooled their heels in the admissions office with other prospective BC frosh and their parents.

“They seem to be very down to earth people,” said our spy.

Freshmen can start moving on campus Aug. 30, but we see from Mom and Dad’s tour schedule they’ll be closing out the Magic tour in Milwaukee that night. So it’s likely Evan, a lacrosse player out of Ranney School in New Jersey, will start his new life as an Eagle on Sunday or Monday. Classes start on Sept. 2.

Do keep an Eagle-eye out for the Boss hoisting the mini-fridge and desk lamp through the quad . . .

Usher should have been taken outside and beaten to a bloody pulp as a punishment for his cluelessness at the Grammys a few years ago when he introduced one of the nominees as "Bill Dylan".

Fuckwit.

I don't know his music too well but I saw an Usher video in which he muttered "yeah yeah" several times over a sample of some inventive person's music.

Oh, so that's who Keith Urban is! He's good but, as all the posted comments say, Alicia Keys adds nothing whatsoever.

A perspective check....My friends well know,but don't neccessarily share my Stones/Springsteen obsession(s). So when I met up with a very good friend of mine today,she thought she was being most kind when she told me,"I bet your really looking forward to Bruce Springsteen. Aren't you"?...Silly me,I thought she was talking about the shows I was going to next week. But she said "no,I'm talking about the Super Bowl"...Well,after I explained to her that it's not official yet and how I am more looking forward to the live shows. She said "Yeah,but it's the Super Bowl" I again explained to her,how live is just better....God Bless 'em.....Not everybody gets Brucified.....Yee Haw!

I'm sure the Skype thread at btx is up to 30 pages already...

Just got a call from a friend who'll be in the house.
He'll be too busy enjoying himself to text, though. Wink
