I anticipated a duets album as well. And IORR's georgelicks says we were on the
right track about that. He also explains why this compilation of studio tracks is
happening at this time:

All their post-1971 compilations are out of print, including Jump Back and Grrr, so this
one is taking over. It's aimed for the US market. If we look at the Billboard 200 chart,
about half of it is greatest hits compilations, including Hot Rocks at #183 this week,
only one week away from the 300 weeks on chart.

The duets live album was on plans too during 2014-2015 but it was shelved due to
contractual problems with some of the guests (Taylor Swift, Kate Perry). So it looks
like some of it will be released now.

In terms of connecting with the target audience of younger casual listeners,
both names are perfect. Very difficult for the adderall generation to process
more than one or two syllables. Sheeran's huge recent album had a one-
character title (the division sign), Rihanna's was "Anti", Kendrick Lamar's
was "Damn" etc.  You might miss trends like this, but the Stones don't.

A best-of containing three songs from the two most recent best-ofs.

I never did buy GRRR, and I want those live tracks, so I guess I will let Stones, Inc. bleed me dry on this one.

Why on earth wouldn't they do a cheery compo for the folk who are getting behind - and those attending - an American tour? This doesn't mean there won't be new delights ahead, surely?

And maybe I misunderstood many years ago, but doesn't Honk(y) reference (at least) the Honky Tonk Women who were essentially blues-inducing honky gals, if you'll pardon the expression. That (Klein-owned) tune was then followed up by a tune about black girls (and the band's own Rolling Stones Records in 1971), so it was not only fair and balanced but grist-to-the-mill

'Honk-honk' is also, I'm fairly sure, the sound and hand-gesture Keith make(s) when recalling ladies with memorable cha-cha bingos (like the Citadel gals). Baby-buffets, if you like. Phil & Lil. Shoulder-boulders. Cleave-conspirators. Samosas.
And are not breasts not also referred to, 'on the street', as Honkerburgers?

Why not give the kids a little of what they want?

Am I the only one who suspects that the bonus live CD is as indifferently put together as No Security was? The fact that there's been no live release representing a complete show in decades (outside of Eagle Rock's, which are extra-canonical) is telling. The mix on Wild Horses is not promising, either.

I think it's deeply shocking, absolutely abhorrent, thoroughly outrageous and deeply deeply disgraceful that they'll be allowing live audiences to wobble their honkers to their groovy old songs, to get them in the mood for any further release at Yule, which presumably the folk in Hollywoo' suggested.  As a band they should be doing hundreds of interviews worldwide constantly for the latter disc now rather than mixing, writing, rehearsing and seeing their fam. Shame on them. They're only well into their 7th decade for gawd f**king sake.
