I remember being fooled by this back in 1986.

The gist:

Word was out that The Stones were releasing a new Album/Single.

Stern announces he will play the single 48 hrs before the official release...

Fred Norris records a version of Harlem Shuffle without EVER hearing the Stones version...

They play it...

Every radio station in NYC was at arms and CBS records threatened to sue Sterns Station K-Rock...

The other stations and CBS record company apparently didnt even know the song they were playing/releasing...

All the legal teams went ballistic...Stern had to call CBS Records to confirm it was a hoax...

The song was VERY similar to the single released...but they NEVER had the original single prior to recording the hoax single

Howard did a half hour about Mick and Keith this morning and they played Fred's version of Harlem Shuffle. Howard is a huge Stones fan.

Yes he is...though I was rally impressed that he said while he would love to talk to Jagger...he is not sure he would be a great interview...which I tend to agree with...Jagger is often way to uptight and rarely lets his guard down...always so calculated...Howard always makes folks feel at ease but Jagger can be that tough nut to crack...

They almost got Keith once...but Keef does NOTHING before noon...that was his publicists excuse...LOL
