I'm leaving for Edinburgh today and I read that the correct pronunciation does not have a hard G as in berg, but is pronounced Edinburrah without a g sound at all. Is this true?

Also heard the Dirty Strangers show is going to be mind-blowing with special appearances by some big names so I can only hope for a Stone or Band 2 member(s).

Lucky Dips again so you never know where that will lead but I'm in the door cheap either way. Looking forward to seeing my one true love, The ROlling Stones again. You are correct about how to pronounce the Edinburgh. There are burgers to eat in Scotland, but they call them burrahs.
In re. being drunk - it is best to say that boozers are minced, blootered or just half-cut.
Try not to take a slash from the back heights of the stadium - it's crass and much better (if really necessary) to have a wee-wee in the Golden Circle or beyond.

OK day 1, so good. First off, at the airport, my friend and I just happened to get a porter to collect our bags to the taxi stand and when I said I was here for the Stones, he informed me the band arrived here last night and showed me pics of the stones plane at the airport. He also told me they are staying at the Balmoral Hotel and the band was escorted into a private entrance at the hotel. We went there today for stalking but  security is so tight you cant get in the front door without a room key. No balcony sightings so that was nothing but the hotel is spectacular.

Lots of sightseeing, its a beautiful city with lots of old pubs. I tried 2 different shots of scotch and hated them both. Ate a steak and ale pie which was tasty and filling. Met some fun people at the bar. Saw a comedy show upstairs at the Beehive Inn, had some laughs, drank some wine, tried to score some weed but was offered smack instead which is surprising and I'm not interested. Saw only a few Stones tongues in the crowd but I expect tomorrow the fans will be rolling into town!  ;D

I saw Richard Ashcroft live about ten days ago. He was really, really good. Very passionate, great setlist and very talkative on political issues, made us all feel like taking the streets that night  ;D

And every time I see him I can't stop thinking that he looks a little bit too much like Mick  :-X

I did get into the PIT, but not from the lucky dips. We got to the venue at 1:20 and there were no marked envelopes so the girl at the window had no idea of the seat locations, there was no "special' pile so we ended up with seats. Went to the pre-party at the Murrayfield hotel and started asking around for pit. A friend texted me about some extra PITs. So I sold my pair to a couple of guys from Boston and bought the PITS. Worked out fine and they ended up costing only about $150.  :D

To get a good spot we went inside at 5:30 and as we waited for the opening act it started to rain a steady drizzle for just about till the Stones came on at 8:15. Before the show started, because the catwalk was wet and slippery the crew mopped it down with small white towels which looked like hotel hand towels. You would think they would have had big towels or mops. Anyway they dried off the catwalk and covered the wires with some plastic tape and it was still drizzling. When the band came on, SMU was the first song. KEEF was right in front of me so I saw what happened. The guitar wasn't turned on right so he fvcked around with a dial and then restarted the song. It only took a few seconds and people were saying he screwed up the opening, but it wasn't his fault, I don't think. Just one of those things that happen at a Stones concert! SMU kicked ass so the show was off to a good start. The band looked very happy to be playing to an adoring enthusiastic crowd, big smiles all around. Some bum notes here and there, some wrong lyrics too but those are the parts I enjoy most after hearing these songs so much. The funny thing about being in the PIT is that I knew at least 10 people. Americans, Canadians, Germans, Finlanders, British, Hungarians, Polish, French, Irish, Japanese, Argentina. These are some dedicated die-hards in the PIT.  Because I was there so early I made some new friends. Here was the highlight of the show for me: Around 10:00, during Brown Sugar (I think)MICK took off his shirt and tossed it in the crowd. After a brawl, a young German guy ended up with the shirt. He had to hide it because people were literally on top of him. Anyway, I knew who got the shirt and after the show I asked him if I could smell it. So I burried my face into MICK's shirt and took a deep wiff, and guess what? MICK SMELLS FVCKING GREAT! I always knew he would and now I know exactly what MICK smells like. The aroma was so good, I will never forget the intoxicating scent of MICK JAGGER!!! For real. No shit. Sweat of MICK in my face.
