Title: European Tour Autumn 2017 looking more likely
Post by Gazza on Apr 27th, 2017 at 5:02pm
from bv on iorr.org :

The Rolling Stones are rumoured to be touring Europe during the fall of 2017. The European Tour is expected to start mid September and run through October and parts of November. One of the first shows of the tour might be at the Olympiastadion in Munich, Germany.

The European Tour 2017 was originally planned for the summer of 2017, but logistics and changes delayed the tour into the fall. The tour will probably be a combinations of stadiums in the warmer south of Europe, while they will be performing indoor venues as it is getting colder in the northern parts of Europe during the fall.

Munich is rumoured to be September 12th.

This report states there will be two other shows in Germany :

https://www.merkur.de/kultur/rolling-stones-in-muenchen-mick-jagger-und-co-planen-auftritt-im-muenchner-olympiastadion-8222454.html

The rumor has been spreading through the music scene for some time now - at least behind the scenes seems to be clear: the Rolling Stones are coming to Munich in the autumn.

Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts will be playing in the Olympiastadion on September 12th. Even if officially nothing has been confirmed, it seems clear that the British plan to have three performances in Germany in September and October.

Probably the usual amount of shows that is normal for a Stones tour in recent years (ie, no more than about 15), and just two gigs per week.

The most strongly rumoured other venue of late is the new U-Arena in Paris which is scheduled to open in September 2017 (just in time for the rumoured tour). Its a multi-purpose dome in the west of the city which can be re-configured to accommodate 40,000 people for concerts

I'd expect a show (or shows) in London at the 02 as well as the Stones havent played the UK since July 2013.

And presumably they'll have a new record finished to coincide with the shows

I'm keeping fingers and toes crossed for Greece, although I expect it'll be difficult with the financial issues  ::)

But last time they played Athens was on a September and it's warm here until early November, so why not!!  ;D

I had plans for a July jaunt over but the fall won't work for me now. Good luck to all that can go if it happens....

Thanks.  Doubt it, to be honest. Have a holiday in Croatia planned for early October, I'm unlikely to travel overseas to see the Stones again unless its somewhere interesting, relatively intimate and reasonably priced (Berlin 2014 was perfect), and I cant imagine paying £400 or so for a nosebleed seat at the 02 to hear the same 15-16 songs again.

(oops...is that a setlist complaint already?  ;D )

But - it's the Stones, man. Never say never, I suppose!

What we need is someone who can come in and make dreams come true. Someone who can make sure that Stones fans get the best possible tour experience available. A leader. A visionary. Someone who cares.

To Mr. Gazza and to everyone across the pond. I am glad you all will get the chance to see them again this fall. It will be a very unique .. yet solid set of shows IMO. Hats off and Congrats to you all ... and almost needless to say ...but do make it a major objective .. In other words GO SEE EM! Not certain if you (or any of us ...anywhere) will get that chance again.

Oh yes.. and as well .. GAZZ What have you heard about this new album or it's proposed release time frame?? Will it come this Fall or what??

Ian

Gawd knows how very lovely this could be, Liam. Or Ian, isn't it?

Could it be the country album they were meant to do in 1978?
Or the band in many naughty groovy guises?

I'm hedge-betting on a totally Virginian album b-side.

Marseille's lovely in the autumn, and we have a (sort of) new stadium.

Come to papa!
