The Rolling Stones' first studio album in more than a decade has been named record of the year by Jazz FM listeners.

Blue And Lonesome, recorded in just three days in 2015, was awarded the title at the Jazz FM Awards, where the veteran rock band were also handed the blues artist of the year prize.

Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood collected the awards at the ceremony at Shoreditch Town Hall in east London alongside the band's drummer Charlie Watts, who was also honoured for his outstanding contribution to jazz.

Nice one Keith!
Tell people to wear suit?
Jagger's becoming like the company's PR agent.
Charlie looks ...bored again.
like; why do we still have to even turn up? Just acknowledge the award with tweet. Isn't that what everybody does today anyway? #fanxabunchjagga'sband

It is quite good; I'll probably be excommunicated.....For not saying how fucking AWESOME it is. But yeah! I like some of it. I'm finding I'm the one now, that's becoming a little jaded. Old age's acomin'.

Correct.

Anyway, it sort of closes the circle nicely.  When they started out at the Marquee in 1962 they outraged the club's jazz purists by being exclusively a blues band.

55 years later they win a Jazz station's album of the year with a cover of blues songs.

Brian Jones, Giorgio Gomelsky and Alexis Korner must be looking down and laughing their bollocks off.

1917—New Orleans, Louisiana: Trombonist Eddy Edwards, performing as a member of the Original Dixieland Jazz Band, participates in the first commercial recordings of what is advertised as jazz. Edwards is considered by some to be the first jazz trombonist to gain national fame (Dietrich 17).

BTW ya'll, it was originally called "Jass."

This is priceless! Charlie is just staring ~ Really MICK? Ronnie's all smiles, so cool. Too bad KEEF didn't show up for this. Maybe KEEF didn't get much satisfaction from the award. Not as much as MICK it seems, he's basking in the glory as usual.

Thanks for posting the links and pics!

Keith lives in the US. The other three live in the south of England.  Simple as that.

No, it can't be as simple as that. There has to be a big conspiracy theory to it. It's Trump's fault. We need a worldwide investigation!  :willya :willya :willya :warhorse :aimama :will-ya :whatapostronnie
