Title: Jo Wood's biography, It's Only Rock and Roll
Post by gorda on Jan 6th, 2017 at 5:35pm
I was at a discount store and found Jo's book.  So, I bought it.  I've only read like half, and already I'm bored.  (Maybe, I'll read the rest some day when I'm on a plane or waiting in a doctor's office.)

Basically, she claims she had a fabulous life as a model in London, before she met Ronnie.  When, she met Ronnie she became a housewife and got hooked on drugs.  But, it doesn't sound like she was having much fun!  According to her, she spent like a year and half in her bathroom "freebasing" crack!

WTF?  Anyways, who am I to criticize?  I'm addicted to junk food.

"He that is without sin, cast the first stone!"

What about any of that would you even consider calling "fun"?
That sounds nightmarish...

Well, she did mention that she was present for several album recordings.  And, that it was a very boring process.  Because, they kept playing the same song, over and over again, until they got it right.

Most fans say that they would love to see the band creating magic in the studio.  But, the way she describes it. it seems like it was not fun at all.

I mixed a couple of songs a few years ago. Yeah, it's like that, doing the song (and its separate tracks) over and over and over until you get it right. By the time I was done I was sick of those 2 songs. It was months before I could stand to listen to either of them.

Out of all the books, I have read, Jo's book sounds the most sincere.  I believe her!  Ronnie Wood is  . . . not a nice man at all!

He treated poor Jo very badly for years!  Cheating on her and bringing his lovers to meet her in person!  (e.g. Kelly LeBrock, Katia . . . He actually said, "She reminds me of you, when you were young!)

Having an affair with the nurse that was supposed to take care of her when she was ill and fighting for her life!  And, at one point, that nurse injected her with too much medication and she almost died!

Bringing random strangers home, who pretended to be "fans", just so they could stroke his ego!  The supposed "fans" turned out to be drug dealers and they all ended up in prison.  And, Jo ended up in a men's prison.  She was locked up, but all the men could still see her through the bars!

When, she was pregnant, he and his musicians friends kept her up with their loud music, depriving her of sleep!

Someone should make a movie about her life!

Well, Gorda, now you know why Charlie is the cool Stone. It's not just that he's so good-looking and such a talented musician; it's also because he doesn't have a long (and well-publicized) history of treating women like crap.

I'll never understand why women allow celebs to treat them like this. These celebs act like fame made them gods and we mere mortal women are supposed to let them walk all over us. Well, I don't know about any of them, but as far as I'm concerned, they're still just men, not gods. Not even close.

No amount of money, jewelry, hob-nobbing with (often arrogant) celebs or nice cars are worth being treated like shit. The cost of all those things is yourself, your self-worth. I'm an abuse survivor and I can tell you that nothing is worth enduring such mistreatment. No matter how hard you try, you'll never get it all back and it's hard as hell to get any of it back.

Keith, Mick and Ronnie put their women through a lot of bullshit.

Indeed. And as much as I revere them as fantastic musicians, not a one of them is worth being treated like that. No one is. Just imagine... not only is your partner banging everyone else but they're rubbing your face in it too. I know, I know, there are men who get off on being cuckolded in such a manner, but few women do and I am not one of them. And expecting someone you claim to love to go through all that for you!

That said, there is such a thing as an open relationship. This is not the same thing, however. Open relationships have agreed-upon boundaries at the start. Furthermore, if one partner becomes uncomfortable their partner(s) is supposed to listen and try to work things out with them so they'll be happy. But what's being described here is the guy doing whatever he wants with whomever he wants and not giving a damn about how he's hurting his wife. I guess they think they're entitled by right of being a rock star.

No way in hell will I ever let anyone treat me like that and I don't understand why anyone does. I would walk away immediately. And as an ex-boyfriend told my (then) future husband, "Don't let her walk away. She will not come back."

How about Patti's life? Up until the Fiji accident, Keith was using cocaine. I wonder if she ever was on him to stop, or if she just let him do whatever he wanted.

Ronnie is a prick..talented but a prick none the less. Lucky as hell too. Taylor doesn't quit where would he be? Headlining "Faces" shows with REO Speedwagon?

Ronnie has been perfect with the new wife by all reports. But before that...not so much!

He has indeed been lucky. I may not have been willing to give him a chance if I had been in Sally's place. Think about his history with Jo and that chick he left her for. A Russian bar waitress, right? Here's something many guys don't seem to realize: lots of women will judge you by the women they see you with. With that in mind, I'm surprised Sally didn't decide that she was out of Ronnie's league.

Well, she's happy and free now!

And, Ronnie has mended his ways and treats his new wife nicely.

Yeah, I'm glad that he seems to be treating Sally very well. At least he stopped that shit; a lot of men never learn how to treat a woman right.

I am sure that his quitting drinking is a major factor in his apparent personality change.  Some people are the nicest folks when sober but can be cruel when blitzed.
