Title: Female RO'ers please post here and men who can be serious for a minute
Post by Bitch on Nov 15th, 2016 at 8:29pm
Hey gals, just wondering who is still posting here. It seems we have lost quite a few of our female "regulars".

My guess is people have moved their posting to other social media like FB, Instagram, maybe RO on FB and some other RS and various Internet sites.

Just wondering what everyone else thinks is going on.

Could it be that it has something to do with the fact that it's very hard to get a response on a message or a statement? Even from the hardcore posters.
Beside that I've got the feeling that it's going downhill since the discussion about the suicide of Mick's girlfriend, and suddenly there were a number of ex-members. Of course I can be wrong, but I've Always wondered what happened there.

I think its just that time of year...
but I do agree...there has been a bit of a slump lately...
Edith has been great posting birthdays and articles of interest...
I check in and am my usual sarcastic and cynical self...though I mean no harm...
I see less of some, but I know they are here as they check in when they find it nesesary...
and there has been no tour since March...

As our very own LadyJane would say...

"WE NEED A FUCKING TOUR!!"

EDIT...I know that EDITH is a guy...didnt want to seem like that was an active RO gal, LOL

I think social media is a large part of it. I see many members on there. Some don't post here much anymore. I just think it's easier to post on Facebook where you can talk about all types of things instead of here. What can be said about the Stones after 50 years that hasn't already been said?................Plus, the politics thread helps nothing. IMHO.

I still post here, but I've noticed the departures as well.

Oh I didn't realize L'wren's suicide brought out the dark side of the Rocks Off culture. That's part of the consequences of a high stake celebrity romance with a Stone. Remember Ronnie's ex Chrissy offed herself when the romance went off the rails? Look at Marianne and Anita's lives of drug abuse. It takes a tough cookie. Nobody wished for them to suffer, it's a matter of inner turmoil but I don't think anyone here blamed MICK. So what was the issue?

I'm sure Chrissie Wood died much later, Bitch. I remember a photo exhibition by the lovely Christopher Sykes in the late '90s (or even later) where she was present, chipper and also pinched my botty.

Some RO'ers may be busily wrapped up with other things/trickinesses in life. Bills, pestilence, floods, damp trousers. Perhaps some fear they won't get off on 12 blues tunes as much as they might a welter of new ditties.

Do you feel some/most males on RO aren't serious enough?

All Bests.

Are you saying Chrissie pinched your butt? Yeah I know she died years later but she admitted to not getting over Ronne, but I don't blame Ronnie one bit.

So to answer your question about RO males being clowns, the answer is basically yes. I enjoy the humor and crack up laughing here. But sometimes I want a serious discussion and it doesn't go that way.

We've lost a lot of female posters, and I must say that I miss them! How can we get them back?

Chocolates? Jewelry? Respec'? The kissing of toes? Old-fashioned decency? Better jokes?

The gift of a winter coat? Humility? Tighter trousers? Silence?

AngieBlue hasn't been on here since January.

I remember her mentioning some health issues in her family. Hope they are OK.

I can offer some nude photos. Perhaps that will work in bringing them back!

I lurk all the time; especially the "Joey" thread.  :interestingstuffronnie
I interact with most of you on Facebook, though.
FB came along and brought ALL the Boards to one forum and that's a big draw.
RO will always be my internet Stones home, though and when there is news or shows I am HERE.

I think Facebook and other social media platforms has taken a lot of the momentum of the message boards away. I know I barely go onto most of the message boards because I can find the people I talked to on those platforms on Facebook or Twitter or whatever social media site. Of course, real life can keep people from trying to escape on the Internet as well.

Yeah I know a lot of people post on FB and Instagram and Twitter but I like the semi-privacy of the RO message board. It isn't "out there" as much, and I could never say the things on FB that I say here. But to Trey's point, the message boards started before the other social media platforms became popular and now the momentum has shifted. The times they are a changin' more than we ever imagined.

It's the Orwellian nightmare, come to bear. They're being abducted. and used as slaves in the ministry of truth. Is that serious enough for a guy?

It's true that message boards came first. Those were earlier forms of social media, but a bit more exclusive. Most message boards were geared towards specific audiences or topic. Social media sites can include anybody. That may have been more attractive to the mass population and caused those sites to boom in popularity and use.

One of the things that makes some social media sites unattractive to me (especially the king of them all, facebook) is the lack of anonymity and the limited privacy. Here, no one knows my real name unless I tell hem, so good luck trying to stalk me without even that tidbit of info.

I try not to be as paranoid as that might sound, mind you. It's not like I never trust anyone and never tell anyone my name. I've even given a few people my phone number, though only to 2 people on Rocks Off (and my number has changed, so pm me if you want it).
