The Stones can rock, they can do blues and they can write amazing ballads.

I have seen every song on that list live...except the NEVER played Winter...
one of the most beautiful songs they or anyone has written/recorded. It certainly my fave song on my fave RS album... I think it's almost too good a song not to be played live...why risk damaging a masterpiece?

What do you guys think ... is Beast of Burden a ballad? Kind of in a grey area?

Great list, in fairness - although I'd leave out 'Angie'

"Let it Loose" should be on there - Mick's greatest ever vocal

I honestly think "Almost Hear You Sigh" is one of their most underrated songs., and the best ballad theyve done in the last 35 years or so.

I, too, quite like AHYS...but the mental image of the lingering 80's stylized B/W video makes me cringe...every time I listen to it...it comes to mind...

Out Of Tears or Streets Of Love anyone??

You used the word 'cringe' and proceeded to counter-punch with "Streets of Love" ? :-)

I see your smiley face...but I know what you are implying...LOL

OK...I used "cringe" referring to the video for AHYS...AND...as most here...I used to cringe at SOL...UNTIL (LJ...back me up here please)...AC 2006...IT WAS AN AMAZING SONG live that night...and Charlie likes it...

I cant recall the video for SOL (not even sure I have ever seen it)...But I am sure it's no Lover Is Strong...

Two Bridges entries: How Can I Stop & the very underrated Already Over Me as an honorable mention.

Does Sweethearts Together count as a ballad?

Sweethearts together
We've only just begun
Sweethearts together
We'll take life as it comes
Sweathearts forever
Two hearts together as one
Everybody needs someone
To tell their troubles to
To share the pain and laughter
In a world beset with fools
To help you with your ups and downs
Someone to heal your wounds
So we're
Sweethearts together
When two hearts beat as one
Sweethearts together
We've only just begun
Sweethearts forever
Two hearts together as one
As one
Everyone so cynical
And says that love won't last
Think about your future
Stop living in the past
Time's not standing still
So stop looking through those tinted glasses
Sweathearts together
We've only just begun
Sweathearts together
So glad I've found someone
Sweethearts forever
Two hearts together as one
As one
But love is never easy
It's never silky smooth
There's always something tempting
In the wilderness of youth
But I will stay right by your side
The truth will out, you'll realize
We're
Sweathearts together we've only just begun
Sweathearts together
So glad I found someone
Sweethearts forever
Two hearts together as one

I would have "Through the Lonely Nights", and "Coming Down Again", "How Can I Stop", "Let it Loose", "No Expectations" and "She Smiled Sweetly" on there

Love "Coming Down Again".
Nobody has mentioned" Slipping Away", which is a personal fave of mine, but maybe not many other Stones fans.
