Title: Charlie interview - MOJO August 2015 Post by Gazza on Jul 21st, 2015 at 1:08pm
I didnt get the new issue of MOJO, so I missed this.
My good friend Rockman posted it on IORR a week or two ago, so I'm just seeing it now. Thanks Rockee. Cracking interview with the always excellent Mark Paytress. I could listen to Charlie talk like this for hours. |

I notice that today's untutored journalists are the type to believe that Charlie played on the studio Tumbling Dice, when it was actually Jimmy Miller. What should we make of journalism like this, where the reader is more knowledgeable?
And Charlie's so in the pocket on Honky Tonk Women, he still makes the car radio jump like it's in a cartoon. But all this guy can talk about is cowbell. |

Paytress isnt exactly a wet behind the years journo. He's been writing for Record Collector and other publications for a long time.
Charlie and Jimmy BOTH play on 'Tumbling Dice' (not specifically together) according to any source I've read. This seems to suggest its Jimmy on the outro : http://www.timeisonourside.com/SOTumbling.html |

Nice interview, as usual, from our man Charlie.
And I've never bought the idea that Jimmy played drums on any part of "Tumbling Dice", no matter what Andy Johns said. Jimmy and Charlie were very different drummers (Miller actually being a more fluid drummer than Watts), and that's Charlie all the way through. |

So he wanted Mick T to be included but nobody listened to him. What a shame.
Thanks for posting the article, I love everything Charlie says. |
