was listening on sunday night and will isten again this weekend. saw one of the philly shows in 09 and it was as good as it could have been. would have liked to seen one of these last shows but the interest wasnt there anymore to travel that far. definately would have checked them out locally if they would have done a real tour like the STONES who are relatively the same age.

I could have got a ticket to one of the Santa Clara shows. But watching from the comfort of your living room is a great way to see a show.  :willya :booze

Awwww, give them a break Voo. Call it what you will. But it's the last go round for these guys. Trey Anastasio is a good fit Who cares what they call it. It's a nice tribute to the memory of the band.

Tribute?
Them boys got some bills to pay...and just their own...they had such a huge caravan of help they only kept it going because so many families were dependent on them to continue to tour.

It would not surprise me if Lesh and Weir were only worth about 40 million each, which isnt a whole lot considering they have been doing it for 50 years and at a CONSTANT rate from mid 70's to 1995...Anistasio prolly triples them...easy.

BTW...I just found my cache of glitter ticket stubs...about 60 of the 92 shows I was fortunate enough to have seen around the world

Fare Thee Well indeed. Last show is in the books and by all accounts, they did themselves proud. You can quibble all you want about calling themselves the Grateful Dead. But should the Stones be the Rolling Stones without their founder Brian Jones Voo?  Anyway, great last setlist. The 2 shows I watched via the stream were very good. Especially the Friday night Chicago show. Trey Anestasio was excellent..........The last setlist:
Set 1
China Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider
Estimated Prophet
Built to Last
Samson and Delilah
Mountains of the Moon
Throwing Stones

Set 2
Truckin'
>Cassidy
Althea
Terrapin Station
>Drums>Beam>Space
>Unbroken Chain
Days Between
>Not Fade Away
(everyone but the drummers leave. Crowd chants)
(Crowd continues chant)

Donor Rap
Encore
Touch of Grey
Encore 2
Attics of My Life (a capella, except Bob acoustic, some drums, organ)

I got off the bus in 95...They day Jerry died and went to go see the Ramones that night. Johnny wore a "I'll be grateful When Jerry's Dead" t shirt that night...Prolly mad because Garcia ODd before him.

What's really funny is that fans were complaining about Trey not singing much at the first two Santa Clara show and a t-shirt started going around that said, Let Trey Sing. So one got to Bobby and he wore it for the encore Sunday. Of course Trey was heavily featured for the last 3 shows and played and sang great.  :keithpunky

Gratefull Dead? Oh God! What a drag! Gratefull Airplane, Jefferson Dead, now that would have been better. No offence to Dead fans folks, I've known many Dead fans, but cooking bacon while playing on stage, Cooor! Something smells! They bored the tits off me, and that's quite an achievement, because the last time I examined my anatomy looking for breast lumps, well, fuck me drunk! I didn't have tits? Maybe they'd been bored off by the Dead after all. Best American band of the 60s? The Doors. 'Father?' 'Yes son?' 'I want to kill- you.' 'Mother!' 'I want to !@#%ckkkkkkkkkyeaaaaaaahhhh.' Morrisson was pure genius.

Jesus wept! some people around here are so bloody sensitive. Since when do I need your approval to voice an opinion. I wasn't addressing the post to you personally me ol' son; so calm down. I'm not here to be a fucking sycophant, Do you what I mean? They just bored me, that's all. I never said they didn't possess talent.

It was mostly meant in jest anyway. So take a diazepam, and a nice glass of merlot, it does wonders. And hey! Garcia was a genius, I fully appreciate that, 'It looked a bad day in Hell." Chortle, chortle. Also quite a comedian. It just a post OK!
