Completan la banda Richard Fortus y Dizzy Reed (Guns NRoses), Brian Tichy (Ozzy Osbourne), David Lowy (Red Phoenix and The Angel), John Carabi (Motley Crue) y Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy).

(PLRadio)

http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/gossip/confidential/dead-daisies-tour-finds-cuba-moving-compelling-beat-article-1.2140301

Supergroup the Dead Daisies, consisting of musicians from Guns N' Roses, INXS, Thin Lizzy and Whitesnake, became the first American band to rock Cuba in the post-embargo era last week.

Now back in the U.S., the rum-soaked and cigar-laden rockers tell us the island nation is ready to party.

“Everyone’s passion for music is so refreshing!” Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member and Guns N’ Roses keyboardist Dizzy Reed tells Confidenti@l.

The Dead Daisies spent their week in Havana recording with local musicians, teaching music workshops and playing a pair of shows for the Cuban Ministry of Culture.

Renowned rock photographer Katarina Benzova was hired to shoot the band’s historic tour, but had to go rogue to see Havana’s underbelly. “I wanted to shoot the real thing, so I got my own driver,” said the seasoned shutterbug, who celebrated her 28th birthday with a Cuban cigar on March 1. Even in the more run-down areas of Havana, Lower East Side denizen Benzova said she never felt unsafe.

Vocalist Bernard Fowler, with 25 years as a backup singer with the Rolling Stones, says our neighbors 90 miles south of Miami aren’t as isolated as we might imagine.
More than 50 years after the Cuban Revolution transformed the country, Havana still seems stuck in a 1950s time warp. The U.S. embargo bans almost all travel to the island, but Daily News staffer Garrett Ward recently got a rare glimpse of the forbidden city. Above, a view of a typical sidestreet in Havana. One of the most recognizable symbols of Cuba is its 1950s cars, which are still around from before the 1959 Cuban Revolution. These older models are predominantly 'illegal' or 'freelance' taxis. Fares are negotiable and you can hail a semi-full cab and join the ride going to various parts of the city.
Obispo St. in the Old Havana section is one of the busiest streets in the city, with bustling shops, bars, restaurants and open markets.
But most of Havana is in need of serious repair and renovations, including this waterfront warehouse.

“We visited an art gallery and they didn’t look ‘stuck’ to me,” he said.

The Dead Daisies’ Cuban odyssey wasn’t without mischief. We’re told some travelers with the band had to seek out better bandwidth in private residences and foreign embassies that had hidden satellite dishes not approved by the Castro regime.

The band’s entourage also discovered that local shops would gladly put lower price stickers on rum and cigars headed back to America, so that U.S. customs agents wouldn’t harass anyone for going over the $100 import maximum.

Former Whitesnake bassist Marco Mendoza — a married man — sidestepped a question about the Cuban groupie scene.

“You have to ask some of my single colleagues,” he said.
