Another exotic 'out of the way' location tomorrow, at a winery in Hunter Valley, near Pokolbin, NSW.

http://www.hopeestate.com.au/the-rolling-stones/

The number of songs on the fan vote has been changed again. From 5 (or was it 6) earlier in the tour, it was only three for the cancelled Hanging Rock show...and now it's back up to four

Let It Bleed
Like A Rolling Stone
Dead Flowers
When The Whip Comes Down

You can vote (ideally for Let It Bleed or Dead Flowers) here :

Cruising along! Rolling Stones members Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood look relaxed as they spend the day with family on HUGE luxury yacht on Sydney Harbour
By Neil Griffiths for Daily Mail Australia

Some members of the Rolling Stones seem to have enjoyed their last day in Sydney in style.

Currently on tour around Australia, guitarists Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood soaked up some sunshine on Friday as they spent the afternoon cruising around Sydney Harbour on a luxury yacht.

Richards, 70, was accompanied by his wife, Patti Hansen, while Wood, 67, was joined on the boat by his wife, Sally and his son.

The band members looked to be having a relaxing day off and enjoying the hot weather, as the mercury reached up to 37 degrees.

Absent from the boat trip were fellow Stones players, front man Mick Jagger and drummer, Charlie Watts.

Richards dressed appropriately for the hot weather, sporting a yellow singlet over cream shorts.

Shame you never seem to see Mick & Keith enjoying each other's company outside of official Stones functions.

Could this be the place where Pass The Wine (Sophia Loren) makes its debut???

They do play that little relevant song game from time to time, dont they?

When Bruce played there earlier in the year he opened the first night with "Drinkin Wine Spo-de-O-dee" and the second night with The Animals' "Spill The Wine"

It'd be nice if they did something off the wall like that. 'Pass the wine' or even 'Blood red wine' would be great, if unlikely!

perhaps even  some dumbass move and cover Neil Diamond with "Red, Red Wine"...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeJ55sUacPM

I will quietly hope for Sophia Loren...with Mick Taylor...a true Exile premiere!!!

Yup. I had a couple Aussie internet mates from Melbourne who were at Hunter Valley for Bruce giving hilarious updates on the set-list, etc., and that "Spill the Wine" was wonderfully fun and goofy (pro-shot video appeared on Bruce's official site). (also, not to be a smart ass, but it was by Eric Burden's post-Animals band, War).

But yeah - if the Stones had a quarter of the sense of adventure that Bruce still has, they could pull something out like "Pass the Wine (Sophia Loren" or even a better one by Keith's mates Paul and Tommy from the Replacements.

Pretty good set...most of the SOS, but the tweeks are nice...
3 Keef songs in a row is weird...no reason they could not
put one of his trifecta earlier in the show. If this is to give Mick's voice
a bit of a rest, why not?

Perhaps another early 60's song would be better for his voice and speaking of post 1981,
Love Is Strong is pretty guitar driven and easy on the vocal chords...but whatever it takes to put on a great show for the Aussie crowd...and they did!!!

They were doing Out of Control (and doing it brilliantly) and Doom & Gloom regularly until this week.

If they're resting them until Mick's voice strengthens, fair enough, but if not then the pattern on recent tours of 'newer' songs being phased out of the show in favour of more golden oldies is being repeated.

The real reason they almost never do a rare song is because they can't be tossed to work it up into something exciting. This maybe related to Mick and Keith not really liking each other any more. But it's also that they are pretty lazy. It's true that the large majority want to hear the hits and the rarer songs are not as well received, but it's also true that they make no effort at new and exciting arrangements. The last time they did that was Not Fade Away on Voodoo Lounge. Once in 20 years is shameful.

To be fair, The Wick did specify "new and exciting arrangements" in his comment. Can't say any of those songs were anything but very standard, conservative performances, excepting "I Wanna Be Your Man" for it's extreme rarity factor and very exciting deliveries.

Something like what they did with "Out of Control" in '97 is perhaps what he's referring to; not much adventure or imagination involved in their arrangements since then I reckon...

Thank you for saving me the time Mr. Yeats. I Wanna Be Your Man was only done because of the 50 years and it died a quick death. Also, the arrangement, although wonderful and exciting, was pretty standard. The best example of the songs you mentioned Paranoid Android is GOMC because the last time it was done differently was with Billy Preston- you count the years...

It's not so much about rearranging the furniture as regularly polishing it (with Brasso and wood-oils), tightening the joins, reweaving or restuffing the pillowy bits, and dancing at variegated speeds around Charlie's lovely steady stool.

that simple oversight just knocked my statements out of the water...and as far as Charlie's stool...that is between he and his GI specialist
