Title: South American leg of the tour not going ahead

http://www.elpopular.pe/espectaculos/2014-11-10-rolling-stones-ya-no-vienen-peru-cancelan-gira-en-sudamerica

in Short, our friend Cucho Peñaloza, who was with the Company that booked the Stones in Perú, confirmed that Perú and the rest of South America are now out of the tour itinerary

Hope Mexico and Central America (Costa Rica) are not cancelled yet, well in fact none are booked yet but at least are not in South America

For fucks sake.

I guess this is because of the Argentina currency problem, and its now felt that the whole tour isnt worth their while as a result.

Well done, President Kirchner. A fucking masterstroke on your part.

Might the shows take place later in 2015?

Maybe US in spring 2015, then?  Bobby Keys' statement about joining up with the Stones again soon would at least suggest there'll be more shows in the near future.

That's a shame for the SA fans. We cant count on anything being absolutely certain anymore.

We havent done for a few years now! LOL

I'd hate to think the Argentina problem was what nixed the whole tour. Its not as if they'd have lost money on the entire venture.

Surely, they could have added a few shows in the US to replace the five prospective Argentina shows if they were worried about not making enough cash.

True, or they are losing momentum.

Paul McCartney toured South America but not Argentina, so we had the hope to have them in Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Perú and Brasil

I think and hope that they are going to move the dates for late 2015 or 2016

Hope there isn't some health problem in the band (unlikely Mick), and maybe they used the excuse of Mick's throat problem at Hanging Rock as a cover. Not trying to be alarmist here, but you never know. Though just plain business and avarice are more likely the culprits.

That is a shame for our South American fans.

Hard to believe that health could be an issue unless something is lurking -- last few pix of them in Australia, everyone looked tip top.  Truly amazing to me howe good they looked.

Canceling one show on account of "illness" is one thing.  To cancel a whole leg is probably based on some financing issue, not the inability to play.  They must have seen a way out of the entire contract to have walked away like that, I would think.

Wait a second. Shows that were not officially announced are unofficially cancelled?

Which is exactly the point! That's why these shows weren't announced, because it was never a sure thing.

You're right, they were not announced but booked and the announcement was delayed because of the Argentinean uncertainty, now the shows in Argentina were cancelled; the company made a down payment so it was cancelled based on business but  not cancelled for the fans as the Rolling Stones did not announced the shows

Based on the fact that the STONES did not announced officially I’m gonna change the subject title

It's like 1975 all over again...

...well at least were that much closer to Keith's release...

We're arguing over semantics.
For all practical purposes the SA Tour WAS a lock.
We have enough credible sources to know these things.
I remain very disappointed for the loyal fans who lose.

Not to be an alarmist. But how far can they keep pushing this down the road? 2015,2016?AS it is. They can barely do 1-2 shows a week. Like Gazza always says. They don't owe us anything. But between the healthy issues. Insurance issues. Numerous economic issues. Let's face it. this isn't a band that can just go out and do a few shows for the fun of it. Their is a whole conglomerate feeling to it. You know what boys. It's been a good ride. Go out on top. It won't break my heart to not see anymore shows. I've enjoyed all 19. Thanks. :willya :keithpunky

Per stonesplanetbrazli, some more promising reports about shows in South America later in 2015.

Columnist for The Globe cites new concert dates Stones in Brazil

Information is columnist Anselmo Gois, who published it in his column in the newspaper O Globo. According to the journalist, the Stones have concert dates in Brazil rescheduled.

The Brazilian tour would begin on 10 November in Porto Alegre. On the 14th, the Stones would play in Rio de Janeiro, followed by two presentations in Sao Paulo, on 18 and 20.  It would be between Recife and Belo Horizonte for the fifth concert.

Journalist information match what we know. First, there is a ready draft contract for the Porto Alegre show, which will be the same in November, at the Beira-Rio Stadium. The other presentations follow the model of what would happen in March. That is, if not these exact dates, is very close.

This is encouraging.
If they are making contractual arrangements for late 2015 in South America, perhaps they can find it in their hearts to swing by the US for a quick tune up in the fall?  Or the spring.
Summer would work too.

Anytime really....
