Title: The Rolling Stones to sell limited edition coffee table books for $5,000 each Post by Gazza on Oct 28th, 2014 at 8:41pm
Never let it be said The Rolling Stones have sold out.
After charging as much as £375 for tickets to their tour last year, the band have now released a series of limited edition coffee table books going for $5,000 (£3,101). The book’s publisher Taschen announced that each of the 1,150 copies signed by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood and Charlie Watts will be sold for $5,000. The unsigned copies, which are slightly smaller in dimension, are due to sell for $150. In a statement issued through Taschen, Jagger said the book captures “many magical moments,” while Richards called it a “roller coaster” through the band's 50 year history. The publisher says its 500-page plus book offers “unprecedented access to the Rolling Stones’ own archives in New York and London and adds an equally extraordinary, more private side to their story.” The Rolling Stones are currently on tour in Australia, playing dates that were initially rescheduled after Jagger’s partner L'Wren Scott died earlier this year. didn't Richards come under fire a few years ago with this sort of thing?
it was said that his autographed copies were mechanically reproduced by the publisher with an "authorized" signature or something like that? Could you really see Jagger and Co, sitting around signing 1150 books? And what kind of bullshit number is that anyway? Here's another bullshit number...$5,750,000 for those 1150 books. |

Not that I'd pay $5,000 for a book even if I HAD it lying round, but after the 'autopen' bullshit regarding Keith's book, I'd personally treat any claim about one of these signatures being authentic with a huge grain of salt unless I witnessed the signing with my own eyes. Like you say, the Stones sitting signing 1,150 books? My arse. 100, maybe. |

A totally ridiculous idea, and I hope nobody buys any of them. Even as collectors items, at that price investors will lose money.

Ha! I agree completely. Though I do hope Gazza can eventually score a copy on eBay or Amazon for $10, take the piss out of it here on board, and then re-sell it (with its "genuine" autographs) for $30,000 to some jerk off NYC investment banker or some such. |

If I do, I hope its to the same fuckwit who bid thousands of pounds a few years ago for the copy of the original 'Let it Bleed' album signed by the entire band. Including Brian Jones.

I'm now beginning to have serious doubts about my Ian Stewart-signed copy of 'Flashpoint'.
But let's not all get excruciatingly bitter and twisted about not snapping up a Andy-signed & Jagger-signed Warhol screenprint in the '70s for a hundred smackers |

Brian's autograph too? That would indeed be very rare. VERY rare. Supernaturally rare! I'm now taking bids on a VERY RARE 1/2 inch reel-to-reel tape of Hendrix sitting in with the Duke Ellington orchestra from 1936! |

I just received my winter 2014 Taschen magazine. Mick is on the cover in a shot from Goat's Head Soup.
Some interesting things noted in the magazine. There's a picture of Keith signing the page in Philadelphia while in town last year. It appears Ronnie and Charlie already signed the page he was signing There's a shot of Mick in New York in 2014. The page he signs already had the other three signatures. Taschen Press claims it took three years and two round-the-world trips for all of the signatures. The "Art Edition" of the book is a whopping FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS. $15,000. 15k Is that clear? It's just a book. Not a private performance. Mick will NOT read it to you at night. The Collector's Edition is $5,000. If you are in the So Cal area, they are having some kind of store event to look at select prints from this book. |
