Doing Silver Train - he heard Stones demo somehow, covered it, and released before Stones did.  Nice job!  Rocking along, like a moof.

Johnny Winter is one of my favorite guitarists.  I saw him live in Sweet VA.  Also, saw Edgar Winter and Rick Derringer on my birthday at Jaxx in Springfield, VA years ago.

Huge loss for rock and roll.  Sadly and shockingly, Mr. Johnny Winter was never inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

RIP Johnny...Thank you for the AWESOME music.  This loss really hurts.

Johnny Winter from Beaumont Texas is an American treasure...was playing the blues until the day he died.  May the Lord shine a light on Johnny Winter...God Bless and RIP.

So sorry to hear that Johnny is gone! He was one of a kind, with an amazing stage presence and he could really shred a guitar! Too bad he never made it into the R&R Hall of Fame, he really deserved to be there. RIP.

Gazza and Voodoo,

Thank you for the Johnny Winter header.

This was very sad news for me too, I saw him only once in 1977, he only played a couple of songs as the audience rioted because of a previous cancellation of his show in which the police arrested a lot of fans for drugs

It was however a great two-songs shows

Early in February we were about to make a radio program for Johnny Winter and Nicky Hopkins and decided to make only one for Nicky, so later in August we’re gonna make one for Johnny

Here is full boot of a show I saw in Toronto back in 1975 which Johnny was sure in his prime. Sat second row dead center. High Way 61 Revisited from the 55:00 until 59:00 mark is pure genius and still in my top 3 rock live moments EVER. (and I have been lucky to have a few over my 62 years)

I saw him at State Theatre in VA circa 2002.  He was in poor health back then, it took him a while to warm up, but he was AWESOME.

I guess its plain and clear, Johnny Winter is an underrated AMERICAN Treasure.  God Bless and RIP.

Johnny Winter finally won a Grammy Award in the Best Blues Album category, which came too late for the influential guitarist to enjoy it due to his death last year, but his producer and guitarist was able to shed light on what it means and gave some insight into the album, which features guests Eric Clapton, Joe Perry, and Ben Harper among others and movie about Johnny.
