There was talk a while back that South America was more likely to be towards the end of 2014, if anything. Guess we'll find out soon enough.
If its only 15 shows, its hard to imagine them playing shows in all three markets (Asia, Australia, South America). Thats not a lot of gigs to go round. Especially in arenas. |

The news Ronnie speaks of is regarding the brand new album they have readying up. They have been working on it well over a year .. .. on and off the road.. into the wee hours of the morning very often here at my place. Every night... just before I accidentally fully doze off waiting on them I listen to the new songs.. We really have some great sessions here all through the night. Evidently, I must pass out I'm so exhausted after recording with those guys all through the night. Only downfall is that when I wake up in the morning it seems I always have misplaced all the material and the boys are all long gone? I'm certain I will eventually find everything and I'll keep everyone posted on our progress. - Ian |

The Rolling Stones confirmed to play concert at Adelaide Oval
ADELAIDE Oval will host rock gods The Rolling Stones for a blockbuster concert in front of up to 70,000 people during a festival season set to be the city's biggest. The Advertiser revealed in October that the world-famous band was being headhunted for an Adelaide performance to mark the opening of the upgraded stadium early next year. It can now be revealed that the concert date will be announced today. It is understood to be on Saturday, March 22. The show will come at the tail-end of the city's famous festival season, which includes the Fringe and Adelaide festivals, as well as the Clipsal 500 V8 race. It will be Adelaide Oval's first major music event and held just one week after the state election. It is understood the Government has used taxpayer funds to help lure the band and a source close to the deal said the payment was less than $500,000. However, industry sources have previously said a carrot of "at least several million dollars" would be needed to bring the band to Adelaide, a city it has avoided on its last two Australian tours. Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger is a noted cricket fan and it is believed the band has been attracted in part by the chance to play at one of the world's best-known sporting grounds. While details on ticket pricing are not yet known, fans can expect to pay some of the most expensive fees yet seen for an Australia music performance. VIP standing tickets to the band's Hyde Park, London, shows this year went for more than $560 and $165 to stand up the back. A VIP "hospitality" ticket set back UK fans more than $1600. Music promoter Michael Gudinski, who heads Frontier Touring, has previously said securing the Rolling Stones for another Australian tour would be a "dream come true". The State Government promised the Adelaide Oval redevelopment during the 2010 election campaign after the Opposition unveiled its own plans to enliven the Riverbank precinct. The upgraded ground had its first test at the weekend during a Sheffield Shield match, where South Australia and Western Australia played in front of only one operational grandstand. The Ashes Test starting on December 5 is expected to have capacity for 35,000 people because the 18,000-seat southern stand will also be open. Five thousand seats will also be made available in the half-finished eastern stand, where the Government says construction is ahead of schedule. The Ashes Test is also being promoted as the first chance for the public to use the $40 million River Torrens footbridge that will link Adelaide Oval to the Adelaide Railway Station. The first AFL match will be a Showdown between the Adelaide Crows and Port Adelaide Power on the evening of March 29, a week after the Rolling Stones concert. That match will have capacity for 50,000 fans because the entire stadium is expected to be operational. Concerts at Adelaide Oval will have an even larger capacity because fans are permitted on the turf. The Rolling Stones last visited Adelaide in 1995 for their Voodoo Lounge tour. The concert was at Football Park and 28,000 tickets were reportedly sold. Adelaide missed out on the Licks Tour in 2003 and Bigger Bang tour in 2006. The Rolling Stones first played in Adelaide in 1965, where tickets for the two Centennial Hall shows on February 11 and 12 could be bought for as little as 16 shillings. |

EXCITING TOUR NEWS! 15 shows sounds right, not too many that its overwhelming but enough to make it worth the effort. Lets see how well the tickets sell and if they have to flex them, and if they will offer low priced mystery seats to the RS.com members as they did in the US. Don't be so quick to jump on the first round of ticket sales, those seats were expensive and not the best locations either. The RS strategy was to sell high at first and then lower them later, releasing more seats.

Kinda shows even further that the days of Stones stadium shows are a thing of the past and no-longer cost-effective. If theyre playing outdoors, they'll be using someone else's festival stages (a la Hyde Park and Glastonbury) instead of froghopping their own around the globe. Which makes me wonder how a South American tour is going to work. Hard to see how that continent can sustain a few highly expensive arena shows to make it worth their while (western Europe seemingly couldnt for shows which should have been taking place this month). Maybe shows down there would have to be all festival dates or theyd have a stage constructed especially for a small number of cities hosting multiple dates. |

Possibly, but in a country like Argentina, they are the number 1 band and I suspect that they can still fill a stadium there as opposed to Europe or the U.S. I think it depends on the country, but I can imagine a stadium show in Argentina and possibly one or two other places. |
Title: Re: from Ronnie on twitter -'exciting Rolling Stones news tomorrow' Post by Gazza on Nov 19th, 2013 at 5:23pm
Yes. They can fill a stadium anywhere if the ticket prices are reasonable. Whether they deem it financially worth their while ($4 - 4.5 million per gig!) is another thing.
Not many promoters can take a chance like that for an arena show and its only really practical to build a stadium stage if theyre going to be using it regularly as those things take at least a week to construct, use, take down , move to the next city to be used again. So, the only shows larger than arenas used in this tour so far have been Glastonbury, Hyde Park - and presumably Adelaide. Theres talk of an outdoor show in New Zealand too. All of those shows that we know of have been festival dates where the Stones dont have to be invest in a stadium stage. The biggest demand for the Stones is in South America - yet they only played three shows in the entire continent on the Bigger Bang tour. One an enormous show in Rio which was free but the costs of which were entirely financed by the local government (including the band's multi million dollar fee) and two nights in a stadium Buenos Aires - where they could have actually sold out five nights and where demand was so high that concert goers were being mugged in high numbers in the streets outside for their tickets. The Stones instead went back to the US shortly afterwards and played arena shows, some of which were in markets theyd already visited and which theyd visit again later that year playing to tarped stadiums. There was simply more profit in it. Adelaide seems to be getting them at a bargain (taxpayers who dont care for the band may disagree) but the band will make up the difference with the prices at the arena gigs. |
Title: Re: from Ronnie on twitter -'exciting Rolling Stones news tomorrow' Post by Rev 20 Redlights on Nov 19th, 2013 at 6:13pm
Gazza, good points, except I'll have to respectfully
disagree with the notion that there are a lot of markets where the Stones can still fill a stadium and take away $4.5 million for their effort. I think there are very few such markets left for the Stones, without significant corporate or governmental sponsorship. And that's the main reason why "50 and Counting" has been scheduled so sparingly. I think Jagger did Glastonbury (for peanuts) as a sort of promo aimed at those potential corporate and governmental festival sponsors. How many of them are going to bite remains to be seen. But I think these kind of huge events are necessary public relations for them if they are going to sustain their outrageous arena pricing. |

I'll have to respectfully
disagree with the notion that there are a lot of markets where the Stones can still fill a stadium and take away $4.5 million for their effort I think you might have misinterpreted what I meant, Revvy. They can fill stadiums anywhere if the prices are set in an affordable manner as they have enough fans or casual fans to do so. Its getting harder to expect people to pay £200 to sit at the back of a football stadium and watch a video screen on a half second delay with questionable sound. As it should be. |

Top price :
A$510 = GB £297 = US$480 Low price : A$79 = GB£46 = US$74 I think the Aussies got off lighter than they dared hope. (Arena shows may be different of course) £46 for a standing ticket aint bad, although saying that, the seating plan does seem to suggest the GA tickets are at the back of the field behind the seated areas. Weird. |

This is easily going to be one of the biggest, if not the biggest, stage and production Adelaide has ever seen with nearly 60 trucks required for all the staging and production. It will be the only show in Australia featuring this level of outdoor production. The Rolling Stones are really looking forward to this huge concert to open this iconic new venue: Mick Jagger said: “It’s great to be invited to Adelaide to open the historic Oval…we’re really looking forward to doing this gig, it will be the first time we’ve been to Adelaide in nearly 20 years, so see you there!” Keith Richards said: “Hi everyone down in Adelaide, it’s been a while since we were in your back yard… see you on March 22 when we’ll take over your new stadium and make it our own, look forward to it”. Tony Cochrane from iEC said “Adelaide Oval and the Government asked me to come up with the biggest night I could think of for this one off event to re-open Adelaide Oval – that made it easy – it had to be The Rolling Stones and it had to be on a massive scale! ” The Rolling Stones were recently crowned the ‘Best Live Band” at the NME Awards in London, and over the past 12 months have thrilled fans with the release of a ground-breaking new documentary, ‘Crossfire Hurricane’, a greatest hits collection, ‘GRRR!’, a massive US tour and a ground-breaking, back to back, sold out set of two historic Hyde Park concerts in the UK in front of 120,000, which are chronicled in a new concert film ‘Sweet Summer Sun – Hyde Park Live’. The Adelaide concert will be promoted by IEC in association with Frontier/AEG Live. More Rolling Stones concerts in Australia, and one in New Zealand, will be announced by Frontier Touring & AEG Live in the next few weeks. www.RollingStones.com/Tickets |

Thats in North America!
Still not convinced these spring shows will include Latin America. If theyre doing Australia and NZ (and rumour has it there could be anything from 5-7 dates down under), that doesnt leave much room for Asia if its going to be a tour of only about 15 gigs and even less for South America. Guess we'll know shortly, but expect info in dribs and drabs over the next week or so, as different countries and promoters have their own plans and agendas (and even the Adelaide date seems to be a different promoter from the other Aussie shows) |

__________________________________________________ On this we agree, Gazza. I certainly do not think the economy, in the US (or other select parts of the world) could support a stadium jaunt such as they have had in the past... BUT here and there, doing shows, with a 1/3 the amount of stadium gigs as the past stadium jaunts with affordable ticket prices could be doable. Instead of two or three shows in my area like I had with say Voodoo Lounge we would have 1. tickets would be a "fair" price in three tiers...say 50.00...75... and 100.00 tickets and they could pull off 25-30 stadium gigs in the USA. I still think going over 20 shows in one shot is starting to be a thing of the past with their age and all. They will tour in Spurts... from here on out doing anywhere from 10-20 shows at a spurt and take sufficient breaks between (but not tooooo long a break ...they would be not smart to get too rusty again at their age...hehe) Ian |

I am not 100% that the stage is for the Adelaide festival. It could be the Hyde Park set up (without the fake trees). And its odd that it seems to be the only stadium show. So they either lugging it here for just 1 (subsidised) show, and maybe taking it then to N.Z./Asia/India/Japan. Bloody pissed off other dates not announced. Seeing the big show would get me a better chance of a decent seat (I'd go for the $350 tix), whereas in my home of Melbourne, an arena show would be great. But, would it be the 50th stage? Nothing is straight forward easy with these bastards!

Scouring some Aussie news sites, and its been stated that the Adelaide show will be the only show with the full Hyde Park production. And whether true or not, seems to be the only show M.T. is playing at. So I assume other gigs in Melbourne & Sydney will be arena only shows. Not sure if the 50 & counting stage will be used or a new one for the next leg.

I thought this was just a load of crap when it was first rumored but well done to those who believed it. At last I think they've finally hit one out of the park with the marketing because it's much better to do one huge gig with an association of the reopening of an iconic venue and drum up interest for other gigs, especially when they are targeting a specific market. They could probably do a European tour that would have some stadium shows (and festival dates) mixed in with arena shows. I think that's more likely next summer as the plan to do a series of arena dates there in October/November 2013 seemed to fall apart due to cold feet on the part of promoters outside of the more lucrative markets of Scandinavia and Germany. Putting a single stadium stage together for even half a dozen cities and transporting it around Europe for six weeks or so makes far more sense financially than carting it 12,000 miles for two or three shows in Australia and India. In the past, when the Stones did stadium tours they would have as many as three stages constructed which would 'hop' each other around Europe or America for the duration as each would take about a week to assemble, use, take down and move. |

Why? I am no Rocks Off archivist, but I seem to recall a few times you wanted the Stones to come your way. And now they are.. And you don't want to go? What's the matter - hard to walk in that dress? Get yer ass to the show and quit whining. |

Show a half a world away, and I am stumblin' around today thinking of selling some non-essential organs to get to the show. Never been to Australia -- seems like a great place to catch a Stones show. You're right, sorry, I did misinterpret you. I too have always thought the Stones had the option of touring to huge young crowds if they set the price point right, and in fact early on it was my guess that that was exactly what they'd do. Go out in a blaze of glory rather than greenbacks. And who knows, perhaps that was their first choice. There were actual news stories in 2011/2012 that sponsored festivals with relatively cheap tickets would form the backbone of the 50th festivities. Maybe there just weren't enough sponsors. Or maybe Keith was just not strong enough to pack in a whole lot of action in 2012. Or maybe Mick just likes the concept of bringing this 50-year-long product cycle to a close as an ultra-premium brand. Most likely, Mick watched what McCartney was doing and recognized it was the best option for the Stones, all things considered. It will be interesting to see whether if even the mighty U2 chooses to downsize/upmarket next time in similar fashion (which would give Bruce the deserved honor of Last True Classic Rock World Tour. I say "deserved" not because I'm a big Bruce fan, I'm not, but he does clearly work harder than anybody else) |

Nothing is "coming to a close" anytime soon. That's insane. Nothing in their 50 years points to anything being the last time. They continue to roll as long as they can.

When confronted with cognitive dissonance between religious and political desires ("beliefs"), most people (roughly 85%) will resolve it to the political one, and nearly every time. Which says a lot about (1) religious beliefs, (2) the analytical skills of most people. There is a thread here that reminded me of this sometimes confounding, frustrating and sad fact. Gonna drive me to drinkin'!

1) it could be marketed for one night only as the "yas yas arena" 2) alcohol will be available at the event, but only to non-muslims 3) most interestingly: "Even the slightest residual amount of drugs (a marijuana seed stuck in the rubber sole of your shoe) can result in arrest, a four-year imprisonment and then deportation." 4) Sexual relations outside of marriage are strictly illegal. Abu Dhabi is the Vegas of the Middle East. You can engage in any vice you want there. As a Dhabian once told me: "Everyone has oil around, but we are a 100 mile 10 lane highway from the driest country on earth [meaning boozeless Saudi Arabia]. We will always be rich."
There are traffic jams on that highway on Friday and Saturday nights as tens of thousands of Saudi men flee their self-imposed religious "moral" restrictions to debaucherize the fuck out of themselves Western style. I love it on many levels, including that we may have common ground with the A-rabs that may end the current wars we got going. A campaign to win their heart, minds, livers, and testicles. |

It’s the news every Australian Rolling Stones fan has been waiting for. A fortnight after announcing their appearance at the revamped Adelaide Oval on March 22, the iconic UK outfit have revealed plans for a full-scale Australian and New Zealand tour.
Mick, Keith, Ronnie and Charlie will play Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Auckland and Victoria’s iconic Hanging Rock as part of the “14 ON FIRE” tour of Australia. They’ll be joined by Mick Taylor (a member of The Rolling Stones from 1969-1974) for this string of strict, one-night-only shows. Dates below. The band will be treating Australian fans to a selection of Stones hits including ‘Gimme Shelter’, ‘Paint It Black’, ‘Jumping Jack Flash’, ‘Tumbling Dice’ and ‘It’s Only Rock and Roll’, interspersed with “lesser known gems, and a cover or two”. At the indoor arena shows, the Stones will be playing on a stage that extends out in the crowd, and is based on their famous tongue and lips logo. Singer Mick Jagger said he “can’t wait to reconnect” with fans in Australia and New Zealand, while guitarist Keith Richards described the energy between the band as better than ever. “We’re all looking forward to coming back Down Under,” he said. “I can’t wait to get back on the stage with the boys.” The tour is being promoted by Frontier Touring’s Michael Gudinski, who described bringing the Stones back to Australia as a “life long ambition”. It will be the first visit to Australia for The Stones since the “A Bigger Bang” tour in 2006 which only travelled to Sydney and Melbourne. In 2003 their “Licks” tour also featured Brisbane on the itinerary, but they haven’t been to Adelaide (or Perth) since they were touring Voodoo Lounge way back in 1995. The Rolling Stones “14 On Fire” Tour Wednesday, March 19 – Perth Arena Saturday, March 22 – Adelaide Oval SOLD OUT Tuesday, March 25 – Allphones Arena, Sydney Friday, March 28 – Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne Sunday, March 30 – Hanging Rock, Macedon Ranges Wednesday, April 2 – Brisbane Entertainment Centre Saturday, April 5 — Mt Smart Stadium, Auckland Ticketing info Pre-sales open on December 9, with general public tickets on sale on Monday, December 16, 9am (local times). Tickets for all shows go on sale to the general public on Monday 16 December, with a pre-sale via frontiertouring.com/rollingstones from Monday 9 December. Mick Jagger commented: “Can't wait to reconnect with all our friends in Australia & New Zealand. It's been a while since we've played to you all, so we are looking forward to being back on stage & playing your favourite songs.” Keith Richards added: “We all had such a ball this year and so we wanted to keep it going! The energy between the band is better than ever and we’re all looking forward to coming back Down Under. I can’t wait to get back on the stage with the boys” The 14 ON FIRE tour of Australia and New Zealand will take place in March 2014 and will see The Rolling Stones return to the road after a mammoth run of touring through the States in 2013, an exhilarating and critically acclaimed celebration of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood bringing their iconic music and ground-breaking stage shows to audiences around the globe. A limited selection of “lucky dip” seats from each venue will also be available to purchase at a very special price of just $99 via www.rollingstones.com on Monday 16 December (from 9am local time), ensuring that some of even the best tickets can be snapped up for a bargain by genuine fans. Mick Taylor, who was a member of The Rolling Stones from 1969-1974, will be a special guest for this tour. The band will treat their generations of fans to a set of classic Stones hits like “Gimme Shelter,” “Paint It Black,” “Jumping Jack Flash,” “Tumbling Dice,” and “It’s Only Rock and Roll,” curated with lesser known gems, and a cover or two. The stage design for the indoor concerts is based on the band’s ubiquitous tongue and lips logo, which extends out into the audience. The exclusive ‘Tongue Pit’ GA Standing area inside the stage will give a limited number of fans in this area an incomparable 360-degree concert experience. Known for their groundbreaking sets and use of cutting-edge technology, the Stones’ set design will feature video screens and special effects that will enhance the high-octane experience of attending a live Stones show. Promoter Frontier Touring’s Michael Gudinski said “It’s been a life long ambition of mine to bring the legendary Stones back down under and I cannot say how excited I am about their 2014 tour. With just one night only confirmed for each city plus a very special one-off concert at Hanging Rock, this tour will be talked about for decades to come.” On 30 March 2014 The Rolling Stones will join a highly prestigious group of artists to have performed at Victoria’s iconic Hanging Rock. The Rolling Stones were last down under in 2006 on their “A Bigger Bang” World Tour, with shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland and Wellington. In 2003 their “Licks” Tour saw them perform in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The other dates are likely to be Shanghai on March 12th and Singapore on March 15th, but those are still unconfirmed.
Not sure why there's a big gap between the first and second Tokyo shows. They could conceivably fit two more concerts in there. Strange time in the tour to take a few days off having played just two gigs five days apart. Maybe a corporate gig somewhere in Japan? |

I get the whole humor thing but it's a little pathetic that instead of talking about how interesting it is that the Stones are playing a new market for the first time and at this point of their career (albeit the majority of the crowd will be ex pats), a lot of subtle bigotry is coming out. I doubt any other market would get comments like this but somehow, in today's world, it's accepted as comedy.

I have no issue with making fun of things if it was truly everything but if we're being truthful, this type of stuff wouldn't come out with, let's say a show in Tel Aviv (which was rumored a few years ago and unfortunately didn't happen). Do you really think the same jokes would be trotted out? I don't think so and it's a good thing that tired old stereotypes about Jews or anyone else for that matter are found to be unacceptable. I wouldn't care if it was the same shit for anyone and everyone, but let's get real. As for exploiting, thanks for the correction, because you hit the nail on the head. |

Should be a run of European dates in the summer. Probably around the same number as the Aussie/Asian tour.
very strong rumours of them playing the Pinkpop Festival in Holland - which is at the end of May. Whilst the tour that should have happened last autumn would have been all arena dates, what venues Ive heard mentioned for this summer appear to be either stadiums (Barcelona, Milan etc) or festivals (less financial risk for nervous promoters, I suppose). Have heard nothing to suggest they'll play the US in 2014. South America seems more likely although everything with the Stones these days seems to be on a 'wait and see - one tour leg at a time' basis. As I cant imagine there'd be as much profit in a South American leg as theyre used to, my own personal opinion is that they could throw in a small number of more lucrative US dates to make it worth their while :stinkypost |

Rolling Stones Abu Dhabi concert tickets sold out
Saeed Saeed February 2, 2014 Updated: February 2, 2014 19:54:00 http://www.thenational.ae The Rolling Stones have sold out their show at du Arena. The concert promoters Flash Entertainment confirmed the news today with more than 30,000 tickets sold for the February 21 concert Work has already begun to secure the legendary group for a second date. John Lickrish, the chief executive of Flash Entertainment, hailed the sold-out show as the country’s “biggest show” yet. “We have surpassed the status of the George Michael show that we did at the National Stadium in Zayed Sports City in 2008,” he said. “It is also bigger than Madonna. This is the biggest commercial production that we have done.” Lickrish said requests have already been made for a second show. “As the demand has been so high, we are working on solutions that could include increasing the existing show’s capacity or even setting up another show,” he said. ”We talked about this when we first did the deal. We said ‘Let’s make a second show possible’ [and they said] let us get through the first show first. We looked at their schedule and it does look a little bit tough but we will do whatever we can.” Regarding the possibility of late tickets being made available for the first show — as was the case with Madonna’s sell-out show at the same venue last June — it depends on the Rolling Stones’ production requirements. “With Madonna, we rejigged the space with the production updates that we got and that opened up more tickets. But it was not something that we announced and we turned back to say it wasn’t sold out. Fortunately, when we did that show, there were some production holes that we were able to release. But when you are talking about production holes, it’s only about 1,000 tickets,” said Lickrish. Lickrish expects an international crowd in attendance. “I can’t speak on the actual maths but I can tell you a few personal experiences where I spoke to people from the United States and the UK who are flying in to see the show,” he said. “We also have groups coming in from India and from GCC countries such as Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and other places like Jordan.” The Rolling Stones Abu Dhabi date kicks off their latest tour 14 ON FIRE, which will move on to Asia and Australia. Rumours of an Abu Dhabi appearance by the legends sparked on November 30 when the The Rolling Stones Twitter account released the cheeky hashtag #GETWHATYOUNEEDUAE — a reference to their 1973 hit You Can’t Always Get What You Want. The news became official with tickets going on sale on December 9. Tickets ranged from Dh395 for general admission to a whopping Dh3,995 for a special package including access to the Fire Pit at the front of the stage. [email protected] |

I find it hilarious that some other websites act like they have the secrets to opening up Fort Knox with this rehearsal information being kept off their forums for "security" reasons. The ticket prices show how much the Stones love their fans and with attitudes like that, it's no wonder that they keep charging these prices.

Zweck Gets Stones For Europe
03:01 PM Monday 2/3/14 Sensible Events chief Andrew Zweck is the new European tour coordinator for The Rolling Stones and the band is looking to play a run of shows in the summer. Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones Honda Center, Anaheim, Calif. May 15, 2013 (Dave Needle) Zweck, who has run record-breaking global tours for Roger Waters and Depeche Mode, will be working on a consultancy basis for AEG Live, which is handling the business for the rest of the world. This latest change in the Stones’ touring team appears to be part of the fallout from Live Nation’s legal wrangles with former company chairman Michael Cohl. Eighteen months ago, LN and Cohl issued a brief joint statement that they had amicably settled lawsuits pertaining to a non-compete agreement filed almost two years earlier. Live Nation had sued Cohl for more than $5 million, claiming the latter had defaulted on $5.35 million in payments for specific promotion rights. In hindsight it appears the $5.35 million due from Cohl was wiped in order for both parties to make a joint-bid for future Stones tours. However, the issues surrounding the falling out and the publication of court documents are believed to have caused the act to become disenchanted with both parties. After the legal issues, the Stones informed Cohl and his legal team they perceived a “spat” and did not want to get dragged into it. The band later released a statement saying they had no exclusive tour promoter because there were no “firm” plans to tour at that time. The next shows were promoted by Virgin Live, a joint venture between Australia’s Paul Dainty and Virgin Group’s Richard Branson, with Stuart Galbraith of Kilimanjaro Live involved in the UK run. Though the Virgin Live venture successfully did the Stones’ brief November and December tour in 2012, it appears plans – and likely financing – fell short to remain on board for a more traditional tour. In fact, the next Australian dates are believed to be going to Michael Gudinski’s Frontier Touring. Although Zweck was contracted to LN at the time of its row with Cohl, he doesn’t appear to have been damaged by it. He’s been out of that contract and once again fully independent for a little more than a year, spending the last nine months renting premises from Barrie Marshall’s Marshall Arts, which is part-owned by AEG Live and believed to be where the new arrangement with Zweck was first fostered. --John Gammon http://www.pollstar.com/news_article.aspx?ID=809399 |

Charlie Watts of Rolling Stones has had enough of touring
ROLLING STONES drummer Charlie Watts has revealed he’d be quite happy if they never toured again. By: Day & Night Published: Tue, February 4, 2014 Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood at Glastonbury last year [GETTY] The band, who have been on the road extensively throughout their 50 years, have now decided to do shorter tours. But Charlie, 72, wouldn’t be sorry to see the end of all the travelling. “The thought of doing 50 shows, which was normal at one time for us to sign off on, that is quite daunting,” says Charlie. “Now we’re doing that in little bits. If we don’t do any more I’ll be quite happy with that.” The Stones are set to embark on their 14 On Fire tour, with 13 dates across Australia, China, United Arab Emirates and New Zealand at the end of February. Charlie says this is far more manageable than a huge world tour – particularly now he, Sir Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are all in their eighth decade. “This is short compared with what we’ve done before but it needs to be, I think, at our tender age,” says Charlie. He, Jagger, 70, Richards, 70, and Ronnie Wood – a mere youngster at only 66 – headlined at Hyde Park and Glastonbury last summer. “That was wonderful although you should have been there when I didn’t like the idea of doing Glastonbury in all the mud and everything. “We had three weekends in England in July where we had fantastic weather and the crowds were great and I had a really good time. I’ve got to learn to shut up.” http://www.express.co.uk/news/showbiz/457849/Charlie-Watts-of-Rolling-Stones-has-had-enough-of-touring |

I cant imagine it being that early.
Especially as they just finish an Asian-Australasian tour on April 5, having been on the road (including rehearsals) for two months by that time. I dont think a European tour will be much longer than what has been the norm of late (15-16 shows or so), so if theyre playing concerts there in June-July, there's little chance of them starting as early as April. |

Some of those rumours are spot on I'm sure, although some are very tenuous at best.
Interesting to see Calderon Stadium in Madrid now rumoured. That (and Lisbon) is where Gottorollme and myself had a hell of an adventure last time - hard to believe that was seven years ago. |

Not sure what I think about these " festival" dates...last year was more of a "hometown" thing to me..."finally" playing the whatever festival it was...but this seems a bit wierd...maybe because they are festivals and there are numerous points of logistics involved and the bottom line ticket sales as well...that they had to be confirmed and announced...I don't know...
I think they could pull off another 14 On Fire and hit some spots in Europa with no problem...let the band take it easy...skate on thru the continent...hit NA once again...a small fan fair in the UK and end it off with a secret gig at a new "Marquee Club"...I know I am dreaming...but that would be such a great and fitting end to such a great band...i know the end is near...if i am wrong...I will be happy to be wrong...i just want it to end not with a death...not with a break-up...not with a fizzle...but with dignaty [/quote] |

[/quote] the festival organisers have to work to their own agenda and so this is probably why some shows get confirmed before the 'regular' tour shows the Stones are doing. The tour will be a mixture of festivals, large stadium shows and arenas. By doing it that way, the Stones will probably be able to do the entire tour using just one stadium stage and one arena stage (they wont be using their own stage for festivals). Gone are the days when they'd have about three stadium stages which 'hop' over each other across a continent, taking about five or six days to assemble and another two or three to be taken down and transported to the next show where it was needed. So, in other words, when you also factor in things like no opening acts at their own gigs, they're doing this tour on the cheap. A fact that is of course reflected in the ticket pricing. :aimama |

First show of the Euro tour is rumoured to be in Oslo at the Telenor Arena on May 26th.
Last show will probably be at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark on the first weekend in July. Tickets for this event have already gone on sale, even though the Stones' participation hasn't been confirmed officially. It runs from June 29 - July 6. http://roskilde-festival.dk/about_roskilde/ 'Rock in Rio' in Lisbon also seems another likely festival appearance. http://rockinriolisboa.sapo.pt/en/curiosidades/ A few acts have already been announced, and whilst the talk is that the Stones will play on the last weekend in May, its intriguing that the only date which doesnt have any artists listed on the bill so far is the opening night of May 23rd, so its quite possible they may play there before Oslo. |

Get your Strolling Bones off our precious stones: Mick, Keith et al (combined age 278) are told to cancel their concert at 'under threat' 2,000-year-old Circus Maximus
The band are scheduled to perform on June 22 at the chariot-race stadium But conservationists warn of 'unpredictable consequences' of gig on venue Local officials say Stones concert 'might provoke acts of vandalism' too You might expect them to have be concerned for the welfare of another ancient collection of stones, famous the world over. But the Rolling Stones are at the centre of a row over a date in their forthcoming world tour which it is feared will do 'irreparable damage' to one of the glories of Ancient Rome - the Circus Maximus. The legendary British rockers - Mick Jagger, 70, Ronnie Wood, 66, Kieth Richards, 70, and Charlie Watts, 72 - are scheduled to perform on June 22 at the 2000 year old chariot racing stadium, immortalised in the film Ben Hur. But the decision to bring 65,000 fans into a fragile archeological site has led to outcry, with conservation experts warning of ‘unpredictable consequences’. The city’s culture tsar Maria Rosaria Barbera, who opposes the concert, wrote in a ministry document: ‘The choice of the Circus Maximus for the Rolling Stones concert brings a measure of risk for the heritage of the area that is not only heightened but also hard to predict.’ Citing the ‘irreparable damage' that had been inflicted on the 'particularly fragile area' in recent years by football fans, she said the Stones concert 'might provoke acts of vandalism and movement of people towards the emerging monuments.' Politicians have also waded into the debate. Centre right MP Luciano Ciochetti said: ‘As well as the archeological risks for the site there, the area all around the Circus Maximum will have to be closed for days with heavy consequences for traffic in a season that is already supporting the maximum number of tourists.’ But city mayor Ignazio Marino is hoping to use the concert a a springboard for an entire weekend of cultural events that will raise his profile and boost spending by tourists. Mr Marino, who said putting on a Stones concert had been his 'dream’ since being elected last year, wrote to an Italian newspaper: ‘The passionate chords of their rock in the archaeological heart of the city will be yet another demonstration of the great beauty of Rome.’ He said he hoped ‘to transform Circus Maximus into a landmark for major cultural events.’ And Mick Jagger tweeted in Italian: ‘I can't wait for the European tour to start. It's a very beautiful time of year to play.’ The Circus Maximus has been used for other pop concerts in the past with Genesis and Lady Gaga playing there in recent years. Bob Geldof's Live 8 concert was held there in 2005. But the site is currently under restoration. Archeologists have continued to discover Roman artefacts including ancient coins, wheels and saucepans as well as the remains of ancient taverns. A rescheduled Adelaide Oval concert will be the hardest one to rearrange as its dependent on the football season and there was also the added factor of public money being used to secure the concert. It's now being speculated that it will take place in October - at the end of the football season there - as there's no way the venue can stage it until then, and there's no intention of staging it elsewhere. Hanging Rock being rescheduled may also be an issue as (correct me if I'm wrong, Aussies) temperatures in that location would be likely to plummet if a new date is picked at the wrong time of year.

PROMOTERS have confirmed The Rolling Stones will return to Adelaide Oval at the conclusion of this year’s football season.
A new date for the concert is expected to be made “in a very short space of time”, promoter Tony Cochrane told Advertiser.com.au “It’s been an interesting 48 to 72 hours,” Mr Cochrane said. “The band absolutely want to include Adelaide Oval in the new schedule ... “We’re reworking what we can do after football season. It certainly won’t be during football season and as you’re are it’s an outdoor show so we can’t play an outdoor show in the winter.” “The band are fully aware of that. One of the reasons the stadium was built was to get football there — and, as you are aware, you have got a football game there every week. We had a small window to do this concert and that window is now gone.” The Rolling Stones announced this morning their Australasian tour had been postponed to enable frontman Mick Jagger to return to New York to mourn the death of his girlfriend, fashion designer L’Wren Scott. Ms Scott was found dead in her Manhattan apartment on Monday. The State Government spent $450,000 for the Rolling Stones to perform its only large-scale outdoor concert on Saturday as part of a tour of Australia and New Zealand. Mr Cochrane said a new venue in Adelaide was never a choice for the iconic band. “No, all the focus is currently keeping the Adelaide Oval date in the schedule,” he said. “We sold over 50,000 tickets so we don’t have a choice. The Stones genuinely wanted to be the first act at Adelaide Oval and we’re still aiming for that. Both Mick and Charlie are huge cricket followers and all of that really counted for something when we did the deal back in August. None of that has changed.” Mr Cochrane also confirmed the $450,000 invested by taxpayers to bring the band here will be returned to the government. “That will be returned,” he said. “There’s no question that the opening (won’t) go ahead as planned so from our point of view the government's $450,000 will be returned.” The rescheduled show will include the giant stage used from Hyde Park and a decision will be made on what to do with the larger than life build in the coming days. “That’s why we’re working around the clock to make sure this happens at Adelaide Oval exactly as it was,” he explained. “It’s a big exercise — does that stage go back to Europe or do we hold it here? — we will answer those questions as soon as we can.” Stadium Management Authority chief executive Andrew Daniels said the money had been paid by the government to the authority, which had paid it to the concert’s promoters. “The Government will be receiving its money back, there is no doubt at all,” he told 891 ABC Adelaide. “There were a number of insurance policies in place in the unlikely event that the concert could not go ahead.” Most of the money went towards the large outdoor stage which was only to be used in Adelaide after being used by the band in England. Mr Daniels said construction of the the stage - shipped out from the UK - was well advanced when the concert was postponed. “Until we got the word about the cancellation or postponement of the concert it had to go ahead,” he said. Work has now started on dismantling the stage. Workers dismantle the giant stage which was being erected at Adelaide Oval for the Rolling Stones concert. Picture: Noelle Bobrige Source: News Corp Australia Mr Daniels said the concert’s postponement was unfortunate but understandable. He said next weekend’s AFL Showdown between Adelaide and Port Adelaide would still act as a fitting premier event at the new Adelaide Oval. An extra $600,000 had been spent on the Oval to ensure it was ready for the Stones’ concert and subsequent AFL fixtures, he said. “We were going to use the Stones as a trial event,” he said. “It was one hell of a trial event I might add.” Mr Daniels said the authority had not expected to make a profit from the Stones concert. “We were looking at running it on a break-even basis,” he said. “We would have made some money but the main thrust of the concert was to gain international exposure and stamp Adelaide as being back on the map.” Infrastructure Minister Tom Koutsantonis said it was up to the Stadium Management Authority to pay the $450,000 back to the Government. “We’ve protected the taxpayer ... if the band doesn’t play we get our money back,” he told 891 ABC Adelaide this morning. When asked if it was just a case of shuffling money from one part of the Government to another, Mr Koutsantonis said the SMA was “not a State Government body”. Frontier Touring have confirmed ticket holders can receive a refund if rescheduled dates do not suit them. Customers have the option of waiting for the announcement of a new date and transferring their tickets, or requesting a refund immediately. Refunds or date changes may be possible with flights and accommodation too, consumer watchdog Choice says. For more information on ticket holder rights, click here .http://www.choice.com.au/media-and-news/consumer-news/news/refund-rights-cancelled-concerts.aspx Early this morning, Mick Jagger broke his silence over the death of his partner L’Wren Scott , saying he was struggling to make sense of her suicide, while the Rolling Stones announced they had postponed their Australian tour. “I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way,” Jagger wrote on his website, under a black-and-white photo of a smiling Scott. Mr Daniels said handover of Adelaide Oval from the construction consortium to the SMA was still expected to occur this afternoon. He said the $600,000 spent to ready the oval over the past week was not “extra money” but had just been reallocated in the total budget. Mr Daniels said other essential work had not been “sacrificed” by reallocating the $600,000. Work including extending the roof at the back of the western stand by 2m to limit water coming in when it rains will still occur but not until April. On Tuesday, Advertiser.com.au readers were disappointed about the prospect of not seeing Mick Jagger and the legendary band but soon realised the gravity of his situation and posted words of support. “Forget the concert in Australia, I am so sorry to hear about your girlfriend, you need to go back and spend time with your family and friends,” one post read. “I think it would be very difficult, even for a professional, to play on after hearing about the death of your partner. The show can wait,” said another. http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/entertainment/to-lure-rolling-stones-to-adelaide-oval-will-be-recouped-state-government-confirms/story-fni6umbp-1226858610027 |

Keith, Charlie and Ronnie’s messages to fans on the postponement of the Australia/ New Zealand tour. Keith Richards: “No-one saw this coming…Mick’s always been my soul brother and we love him…we’re thick as thieves and we’re all feeling for the man…we really hate to disappoint our fans but we’ll see everyone really soon.” Charlie Watts: “Needless to say we are all completely shocked but our first thought is to support Mick at this awful time. We intend to come back to Australia and New Zealand as soon as it proves possible.” Ronnie Wood: “This is such terrible news and right now the important thing is that we are all pulling together to offer Mick our support and help him through this sad time. Without a doubt we intend to be back out on that stage as soon as we can.” |

The Rolling Stones will most likely return to Australia in October/November 2014.
The news comes via Frontier Touring who posted an update on their Facebook this afternoon, assuring fans that “every effort is currently being made to reschedule” the tour for later in the year. According to the statement the new dates are currently being worked out and will be announced as soon as possible. Read the full update below. The news echoes a statement made yesterday Adelaide concert promoter Tony Cochrane, who told The Advertiser that The Rolling Stones would likely return at the end of the current AFL Football season. The Stones were set to kick off their “14 On Fire” tour in Perth last night, but were forced to postpone all their Australian and New Zealand dates following the tragic death of Mick Jagger’s partner L’Wren Scott. Earlier today Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, and Ronnie Wood posted messages of support Jagger and confirmed that they intend to reschedule their Australian tour “as soon as it proves possible.” “No-one saw this coming,” wrote Richards. “Mick’s always been my soul brother and we love him. We’re thick as thieves and we’re all feeling for the man… we really hate to disappoint our fans but we’ll see everyone really soon.” Ronnie Wood adds that “without a doubt we intend to be back out on that stage as soon as we can.” The “14 On Fire Tour” was set to be their first in Australia since the “A Bigger Bang” tour in 2006 which only travelled to Sydney and Melbourne. In 2003 their “Licks” tour also featured Brisbane on the itinerary, but they haven’t been to Adelaide (or Perth) since they were touring Voodoo Lounge way back in 1995. Frontier Touring Rolling Stones updateAt this very sad time we would like to reassure Rolling Stones fans and ticket holders that every effort is currently being made to reschedule the postponed Australia and New Zealand dates for October/November 2014. Rescheduled dates are being presently worked on for The Rolling Stones ’14 On Fire’ Tour of Australia & New Zealand and will be announced as soon as possible. If the new dates are not suitable, rest assured you will be able to secure a refund. While we encourage fans to hold on to their tickets the option to secure a refund is now available to you via the official ticketing agency you purchased from. Patrons will be able to secure a refund for the value of their tickets and fees and charges incurred in purchasing the ticket. Not sure where to put this..................
Heartbroken Mick Jagger boards private jet with bandmates at Perth airport to fly out of Australia four days after death of partner L'Wren Scott The Rolling Stones have left Australia, with the group's private plane departing Perth Airport at 2.55pm, with Mick Jagger and his fellow bandmates on board. A grim-faced Mick Jagger, wearing dark sunglasses and black cap, was dropped at the plane's boarding steps as he prepares for his journey home. Pilots lodged a flight plan at Perth airport listing Abu Dhabi as the first destination The Rolling Stones left Perth's Hyatt Regency at 2pm on Thursday, filing into five separate cars in a military-style motorcade. Police closed roads while detectives and uniformed police - some wearing bullet-proof vests - escorted the band to Perth airport. Each of the five cars had heavily tinted glass, along with rear-window curtains. The band left Australia only a few hours after a New York medical examiner ruled that the death of Ms Scott was a suicide. Police confirmed she did not leave a note, Today, Frontier Touring has confirmed it is working on new dates for the Rolling Stones' Australian tour. Concert promoters said the band's shows may be held after the football season in either October or November, News.com.au reported. On Wednesday night, the same night the Rolling Stones were due to perform in front of more than 15,000 screaming fans for the first show of their sold-out tour, drummer Charlie Watts played to just 130 people at the city's tiny Ellington Jazz Club. The club was closed to the public when Watts performed, but jazz fans already inside were treated to the surprise 45-minute performance from the Rolling Stones drummer. Club director Graham Wood told MailOnline that the 72-year-old drummer was ‘private and quiet’ during his two hours at the club. But he said Watts came alive when he walked onto the stage, even treating fans to a jazz-style version of Rolling Stones' mega-hit Honky Tonk Woman. There was talk of Charlie coming on Monday. But obviously with the way things unfolded, it didn’t happen,’ Mr Wood told MailOnline. ‘He got here around 11pm and stayed a good couple of hours. He was fairly private. He had his entourage and security there. He was pretty keen to just quietly enjoy the music. ‘We had a full house of about 130, and they didn’t really know what was happening . ‘He played a kind-of slow, swing version of Honky Tonk Woman. The place just erupted. People couldn’t believe it.’ Watts had been expected to play at the club earlier in the week as part of saxophonist Tim Ries' Rolling Stones Project when the news of L'Wren Scott’s death altered his plans. Kaitlyn Elsegood, who was at the club, told MailOnline that Watts arrived and took up a spot in a quiet corner, going largely unnoticed by most people. But she said the Stones drummer’s demeanor changed as soon as he hit the stage He was sitting in the bar the whole time, but he was sitting quietly in the corner having a drink. ‘Not many people noticed he was there. But he was very relaxed on stage. He played for about 45 minutes . ‘He didn’t really say anything. He was just happy to play.’ The Rolling Stones released a statement overnight expressing their support for Jagger, saying 'the death of L'Wren Scott is terrible news and they are pulling together' around the band frontman. The impromptu gig followed Watts telling MailOnline that Mick Jagger had been left dazed and unwell following the apparent suicide on Monday. 'He's holding up. He's okay,' Watts said earlier that night, adding: 'He's not really well. He's not really here. It was such a shock.' __________________________________________ I'm happy that they are all together to support Mick and each other. |

Here is fine - many thanks, as always.
Some more Euro dates seem to be falling into place. Vienna June 16 and Stockholm June 30 appear to be pretty much definite. Guess we should hear the full list in a few days. Expect it to consist of Oslo, Lisbon, Landgraaf, Berlin, Paris, Vienna, Dusseldorf, Rome, Madrid, Werchter, Stockholm and Roskilde with possibly Tel Aviv and a Swiss date (Zurich) too. Most of the dates should have two days off between shows. I've never expected the rumour of a Dublin show to have had any validity and still don't. |

Yeah, it was wrecked after a Stones gig there in 1965.
(theres actually a - admittedly very poor - bootleg recording of that show. One of the earliest Stones audience recordings) Jagger apparently didnt help matters that night by electing to goose-step during 'Satisfaction' ! The Stones also played this venue on 8th June 1982 and 10th June 1990 as well as September 1998. I dont know if you're familiar with the 1983 hit single '99 Red Balloons' by the German singer Nena (it was called '99 Luftballon' in its German version). Got to number 1 in the UK. The song was inspired by the Stones' 1982 gig at the Waldbuhne and the red balloons that flew into the air from the stage when they started the show http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/99_Red_Balloons#Background_and_writing |

No. the Lisbon gig this time is in a massive park. The festival goes on over about five or six nights and they can get about 80,000 into it. The venue we were at was a football stadium (Alvalade) The Madrid show we were at was Estadio Calderon (Athletic Madrid's stadium). The Stones have played there several times in the past and it was believed that this show would be there too. However, its in Real Madrid's stadium (Bernabeu) which is even bigger (holds about 80,000 for football). It doesnt get used that much for concerts. The Madrid show is on the 7th anniversary of our Lisbon gig though! |

Read something about that the other day and it appears that the tourism minister is a big Stones fan and he's getting a lot of grief politically about potentially using public money just to secure a local gig by his favourite band.
If he pull that off though, you never know. The Stones might be keen to make up for the disappointment of the Aussie fans by doing an extra gig. Downside of the argument is that the postponements will mean that a lot of people are going to be left with expensive tickets that they cant re-sell. |

Rolling Stones Promoter Details The “Horrendous Ride”
Written by Greg Moskovitch on 15th April, 2014 When founder of the Mushroom Group and touring company Frontier Touring Michael Gudinski spoke to Music Feeds in December, he was almost incredulous that he was working with The Rolling Stones. But speaking now, the mogul’s just relieved that the tour is still going ahead. The Rolling Stones’ heavily anticipated return to Australian shores on their 14 On Fire tour was met with tragedy almost as soon as the legendary band touched down at Perth Airport. Frontman Mick Jagger‘s longtime partner L’Wren Scott had died, and the singer was soon bound for the US. “[It's been] a horrendous ride for everyone involved, but obviously it’s been most horrendous for Mick himself,” Gudinski told The Music after new dates were announced. “When you’re dealing with such tragic circumstances, it’s all a matter of patience. It’s a relief for everyone involved.” The promoter explained that while all of the parties involved desired a rescheduling of the dates, there were never any guarantees. “There’s always a danger, it’s a risky industry. The intention was always there – it takes time though… Until I knew it was 100 percent back on, it was a torturous time for all of us involved. And let’s be honest, until it’s over [I won’t relax], I know this game too well.” Earlier today, Australian rock icon Jimmy Barnes was added to the band’s Adelaide Oval show — the first concert to take place at the refurbished venue — and Gudinski said high-profile support acts will be added to the Hanging Rock and Hunter Valley shows in a post-Easter announcement. The promoter did not discuss the financial hit taken as a result of the cancelled and postponed dates, and the cost of returning the band’s famously elaborate stage setup back to the US. “Obviously it’s affected everyone,” he said, though he insists refunds have been “minimal” and the rescheduled dates will feature “every bit of equipment out again, there’s absolutely no compromise.” “We were basically under siege in that hotel, with paparazzi at every door. [Money] is the last thing you think of at that time,” said Gudinski. Of the extensive and oft-speculative press coverage at the time he said, “Some of the stuff I saw online was disgraceful, but that was from a small minority.” http://musicfeeds.com.au/news/rolling-stones-promoter-details-the-horrendous-ride/ |

The new Mrs Wood has arrived in Oslo, so presumably Ronald is already there too and the rest of the band too (or shortly afterwards) No L'wren for tour updates on twitter anymore, unfortunately. There has been some talk of a low-key warm up gig in Oslo to get Mick into the groove of performing again ahead of the tour opener when the eyes of the world will be on him, but I havent heard anything in recent days about such a gig happening, but you never know I suppose. |

The Stones are now rehearsing just outside Oslo
http://www.budstikka.no/nyheter/haper-pa-stones-signatur-pa-plate-1.8439296 Translation : The Rolling Stones rehearse Wednesday afternoon and evening in Filmparken the Jar. At 13.30 the first cars arrived with companions to members of the English rock band. Around 20 people and some media had gathered outside Filmparken after it became known that the band would practice Jar. One of them was 18-year-old Carl Stokke who live in the Jar. - I've been waiting for over two hours and hope to have signed a plate, says the young Stones fan Did not even have a ticket to the concert on Monday, but could enjoy the sound of several songs the band rehearsed on Wednesday evening. Budstikke reporter at the site said that the songs that have been practiced include Some Girls, Midnight rambler, Shes so cold, Get off of my cloud and When the whip comes down. Mick Jagger drove quickly through the gate and parked at the studio he should practice with the rest of the band. Hidden behind guards and buildings he entered. He was not interested in talking to the press or other attendance. Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ron Wood was driving something before Jagger. Also former member of the Rolling Stones, Mick Taylor drove into cinematic park at 16 o'clock. In April last year, was also Bruce Springsteen back Filmparken the Jar and practiced with his The E Street Band before the concert at the Telenor Arena. Budstikka wrote Wednesday morning that the Stones landed at the airport Tuesday night. Bernard Fowler, a member of the Stones' backing band, announced on Twitter Tuesday night that he and the band have landed in Norway and getting ready to practice. It is not known to Budstikka the band also going to practice on the dock where the Stones concert on Monday, but the stage is built and it is confirmed that the entire production with sound and lights will be tested in the days leading up to the concert. Budstikka was informed by concert organizer Live Nation on Tuesday that the band has started preparations at the Telenor Arena. - Rolling Stones rehearse their production at Fornebu, ie sound and lighting inside the arena. When the band comes we know not, said Christian Schøyen Live Nation to Budstikka. The concert, which is laid out 25,000 tickets were sold out after 13 minutes at the end of March. Up to 2,525 krone, the public had to pay to see the old rock stars. The cheapest tickets were out to 915 krone. The most expensive tickets give the public access to the "Golden Circle", a restricted area close to the stage. The Norwegian band Big Bang heats up Stones, scheduled to go Big Bang on stage at 19.30 while the English rock band will be ready an hour later. The past week has Keith Richards (70) Mick Jagger (70), Charlie Watts (74) and Ron Wood (67) trained to tour in a small studio in London. Now practice the gang in Bærum. Telenor Arena is the first stop on the "14 On Fire" tour after the girlfriend of Mick Jagger, L'Wren Scott, died suddenly in New York. Since her death the band postponed seven concerts they should keep in Australia and New Zealand in March and April. Stones visited Norway several times, the first time in Sjølyst in 1965. Last time they played here was in 2007. |

I love how the Daily Mail like to tell you they know what he's thinking. For all they know, he could have been trying to extract a leftover part of his breakfast from his teeth. They did a full dress rehearsal of the show today instead of a warm up gig, which was still being mooted as recently as a couple of days ago. That would suggest they all reckon he's raring to go. |
