Title: Knebworth 69-79 Commemorative Set - special offer
Post by Gazza on Jul 12th, 2012 at 10:39am
A really nice commemorative set is available to mark the Stones' appearance at Knebworth Fair on 21st August 1976.

For the next four weeks, Rock Music Memorabilia are including, free of charge, a festival T shirt with the set .

Details here :

Thanks to Henrietta, daughter of the event's promoter Freddy Bannister, for telling us about it.

so the cd/dvd covers their performance or the whole event?

Not sure. As far as I'm aware only an hour of the Stones' performance has ever circulated - thanks to a guy I know who worked at the BBC and 'borrowed' the raw news footage for a couple of days from their archive and made a copy.

The full show was filmed by the Stones crew, though - as they used video screens that night, I believe.

There's a couple of different mixes and edits of the circulating Stones footage though - so that may be part of it. And Lynyrd Skynyrd's memorable performance is definitely widely available.

According to the link, this show had the longest setlist ever of a Stones show.  Anyone know the setlist?  :nooslajaleisk

According to Art who commented on the link on our facebook page, the DVDs of this commemorative edition include some of the New Barbarians set from their performance there in 1979 when they were supporting Led Zeppelin.

Will be interesting to see if it is the complete show with "warts and all " as there is a few moments during either Hot Stuff or Hey Negrita of some painfully high pitched shrieking feedback between  Mick's mic and the on stage monitors. After which Mick openly berates his sound man.

A little bump for this.

Henrietta has advised us that they have had lots of enquiries from this site and some are asking about the CDs and DVDs. Anyone wanting to know the track lists should contact Henrietta on [email protected]

Thanks

We've been asked to give this another bit of promotion so I'm gonna 'sticky' the thread for the next few weeks.

The T-shirt offer is still valid - and its a really cool one as well....

Another little plug and bump for this. Rock Music Memorabilia have advised us that they now only have 15 of the Rolling Stones Knebworth sets left now and they can be viewed on http://www.rockmusicmemorabilia.com/productdetails.php?catid=1&pid=1

We've been asked to provide another update on this as more items have now been made available

We have now completely sold out of the original Knebworth 1976 set and because there were so many disappointed fans we decided to produce another set this time in a silver box (colour not real silver), limited to 250 and although the price remains at £49.99 (58 euros) we have added a few more items.

After the recent death of Storm Thorgerson we decided to give with the set, as a tribute to Storm, the circular poster he designed for the festival which is signed and numbered by the promoter, Freddy Bannister. We have also recently discovered 8 new pics of The Stones at Knebworth, so now give 20 photos instead of 12 with the set.

It's a mix of CD's and DVD's....the sound and picture quality ranges from barely mediocre to average, but the performances are superb (Skynyrd!!), the collection is historical, and the book, photos, posters, and t-shirt are way cool.  But I'm a fanatic and I'd only suggest the case to another fanatic (which I guess fits most here, so buy it!)

As you can see in the pictures the box is not for Knebworth 76 of all the festivals from 1969 to 1979

We are going to have a series of headers from the festivals

Would be nice to have some Keith pics from that gig.
Among other guitars Keith played his Zemaitis "Skull & Bones" guitar at this show.
A gift from Ronnie that was and it's still one of my all-time favorite guitars.
Alas, it burnt in one of the infamous Redland fires.

Will ya, Voo?
