Today is his birthday but, no, that's not the reason to post a header dedicated to him. I think it's time to give you some information about him: Some months ago he told Gazza and I that he was very sick by cancer, we have been trying to contact him when we noticed his absence from the board and got no answer.

To be honest I think he already passed away, if not surely he still very sick as you know... cancer sucks

Steve (Motels) told us last July that he'd been diagnosed with lung cancer and that it was untreatable. He did however say that it was a long-term thing and that he'd been told that it wasnt advanced - yet.

In case anyone's wondering why it hadnt been mentioned until now, its simply because he asked us not to and we felt it best to respect his privacy. He said he'd 'gradually disappear' from the board and didnt want to 'announce' it.

However, he hasnt logged in since October and even though I've mailed him a couple of times since then to see if he's ok, I never got a response.

It doesn't sound too positive, to be honest, but we can only hope that he's ok - and if he's not, that it was as peaceful for him as can be hoped.

a genuinely friendly poster and a true gentleman - never rude or aggressive (even when provoked)...for sure some of his posts and/or ideas were  bit "out there" and, i suspect, beer influenced - but that's what made him so much fun

Here, here. I think we've all posted things we've regretted over the years here on Rocks Off and elsewhere. I'm sure TTM gave Starbuck hell, as well! I remember JB being a complete arse - he seemed that way to me, anyway - when he first started posting around '02, but it all worked out in the end.

as zack said, the internet isn't real...but the problems we face in life certainly are. no one can deny motsie went overboard on many an occasion, but obviously the guy had a lot on his mind that no one knew about.

i was able to search legacy.com's listings for maine obituaries for the past year. no passages for anyone with TTM's name. that, at least, is a positive sign. i did find one for someone with his name in north adams, MA...but that person was 59 and had kids and grandkids...and was also a noted cat lover. doesn't sound like him.

bummer... he was unique, like all of us here. i hope when my time comes i can have the abilty to fade away, it is more fitting to my personality, that is far from fading.

I remember that TTM loves the movie The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance and he quoted the line "This is the west, sir. When the legend becomes fact, print the legend" several times. I've seen the movie a couple times since he mentioned it here and love it too.  

He was a Couchie also and was given the business over there as well.  He seemed to enjoy the back and forth and surely knew he was going to get it with some of his posts.  He is obviously well liked by everyone.

I disagree with Zack and Starbuck when they say the Internet is not real! It IS real, people read it, get into it, and things we write and post do have an effect on other peoples lives, even if we never meet them in real life. It becomes a part of your life, and thats real. And to take it a step further, many great friendships have been made through the Internet, hook-ups, even marriages. Its definitely real, it isnt our imagination! So realize when you post something harsh to another poster, they sometimes take it very seriously, and it bothers them in real life. Or vise-versa, if you post something sweet, it can make someone happy in real life. It's not pretending. It's real. IMO.

Well, he didnt want a fuss made of his ILLNESS which is why he chose to leave quietly. Thats maybe not necessarily the same as not wanting people to figure out what became of him if he has indeed passed away.
