Rod Stewart Returning To The U.K. For His Son
March 30, 2009 - Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster
Rod Stewart Photos (196) Rod Stewart is moving back to the U.K. as he thinks it is a "safer place" for his young son. The 64-year-old Scottish rocker and his wife Penny Lancaster are returning to the U.K. from Los Angeles to enroll their three-year-old son Alastair at a top private school.

The couple - currently trying for their second child together - are believed to be moving to prevent any chance of Alastair "going off the rails" in the U.S.

A source told Britain's Mail on Sunday newspaper: "Rod wants to move back to the U.K. so Alastair can get the best education. He and Penny both think it's a safer place to bring up kids and don't want Alastair going off the rails, which can happen in Los Angeles."

"The city is a party town and Rod has seen the effects it can have on children first-hand. He and Penny are really keen for Alastair to be educated and brought up in Britain."

Rod's six other children from previous relationships: Kimberly, 29, Sean, 28, Ruby, 21, Renee, 16 and Liam, 14, have all lived in his California mansion and some have got into trouble.

Sean has a long-running battle with drug addiction and has entered rehab several times.

He has also had run-ins with police and is currently involved in a court case over an alleged attack in a Los Angeles nightclub.

Sean previously said: "Being Rod Stewart's son is a curse and a hindrance."

"I love my dad, but a lot of celebrity children grow up f***ed up because our parents are out of town a lot and it makes us feel unwanted."

Penny, 38, is also said to be keen to move back to the couple's house in Epping Forest, near to London, as she will be closer to her family.

Another source said: "Penny is very much a home girl and wants to be in England more."

why the hell anyone would want to raise a kid in la is beyond me. good on rod. la is nothing but gangs and drugs and pollution...the air quality is gross.

I remember Sean being on "Celebrity Rehab" when they were going watch a film about Buddy Holly, Sean said "Who's Buddy Holly?" & here's Rod Stewart's son who doesn't know who Buddy Holly was.

LA is fucking great, it's all the whack jobs that move out here that can't seem to handle it.

And btw, I got a second hand account that Mick & Keith were recently spotted at Ocean Way studios in hollywood? I kid you not....

my guess is that platter has never been to the city of angels, but to be honest, feel free to keep believing the stereotypes you posted, 'cos it is plenty crowded here. by the way, it is 5:30pm, 70 degrees and sunny, and i am about to go walk my dogs down by the ocean...

what's up macdaddy! wish I had time to get down to book soup but barely have time to keep up with this board!

Anyway, Ocean Way is where they recorded Bigger Bang and I was told Keith was wasted per usual but was kind enough to take pictures with some peeps who happened to be working in the studio that day/night. Jagger was apparantly there but wasn't spotted. don't know about the rest of the band. just a second hand account but I have no reason not to believe my source.

and imo, Rod started to suck when he quit the faces and moved to L.A. in '75

I choose to raise my son in Los Angeles and I can't think of anywhere else I would rather live and raise a family.
