Hello all,
Who has seen this show, and how good is it? What is the best way to become familiar with it quickly? Should I start with Season 1, or can I skip around? TIA! :aimama FG! |

My girlfriend used to make me watch it with her. There are lots of hot naked chicks in every episode so it doesn't really matter where you start.

It's great. It's got female oil wrestling. My favorite sport. :kissmyass

Ironically there is a Stones' connection to this stupid show. The theme song is performed by Deena Miller. She is none other than Jimmy Miller's daughter of Stones' production fame.
I don't even know why I know that little tidbit, but there ya go. I must be a Stones' geek. Riffy |

I scored Season 1 and 2 at Target, which was a surprise to me. I thought that Target carried strictly "family values" movies.
Anyway, I've yet to watch any of it. |

TBH That show causes me erections. The only thing about it is that it is about promiscuous lesbians. Don't tell me that a heterosexual show must have such explicit scenes like that; sometimes it is almost a porno show.

BTW, it was censored here from the air TV and can be seen only on Cable TV, they made a mistake because the show was at 10:00 PM in a popular channel

Seasons 1 and 2 are early best; seasons 4 and 5 are essential.

L word does for dykes what Queer as folk did for gays.
Here in Oz, for us straights (assuming you all are) we had Number 96, The Box and Chances. What a wonderful world. |

Target had Season 1 & 2 for $17 each. That's so budget....I love it. Still have not watched it. ;)

I was distressed to realize that some of those women were actual lesbians!

LOL No, and mostly she plays a straight woman. The one who plays Alice Piezecki (purported bi on teh show) is in real life a lesbian. So are some of the more minor roles. I switched from SHO a year & a half ago so I've missed the last 1 or 2 seasons. I'll be making my way to Target at some point... |

I love Pam Grier...she was awesome in Jackie Brown, which is a great flick by Quentin Tarantino. I'm surprised Pam is not a HUGE star. Jennifer Beals is not a lesbian, and Flasdance (her flick from 1983) is a guilty pleasure. Hey, glencar, after you make to Target, lets have an L word watching party. I'll provide the wine and the snacks. ;) |

(quote) Pam Grier is a huge star these days. She's Queen Latifftipping the scales at about 240.....They had to unlezzy her in the show |

I've never seen "The L Word." Hell, I'd never even heard of it until I read this thread.
But for the love of God, people, a little respect: Not only was Pam Grier the original "Coffy" (1973) but also the original "Foxy Brown" (1974)! She is a huge star! Quentin Tarantino probably got down and gave her a foot massage just so she'd play "Jackie Brown!" Hell yeah! |
