That's a nice gesture, Motsie.    I think SS is long gone from RO.

Anyhow, Happy Birthday, M.

Why does anyone here still care about SSA? He obviously does not care about this you or this board. He chose to leave not because of health reasons or internet issues. Not because of personal issues that I'm aware of or anything like that. He just chose to leave for basically no reason. It was because he thought he was above it all. You could read that in his explanation for leaving in his last posts. It wouldn't be a big deal if he was not so boastful and arrogant all while he was here or how many here (and still do for what reason is beyond me) made him out to be "Joe Cool" himself. The "Fonzie" of Rocks Off...  I mean, please. I know this is just an internet message board and I realize it is a free country (at least where I am) but come now.. I could see this in him all along.  I also knew he was just a baby when it came down to it. I'd tell him like it is if he ever made comment to me about anything again some where. I used to tell it like it was to him when he was here but at least then I had standard respect for him. It may appear that I'm jealous or something but I can assure you that it's nothing like that. I didn't feel this way about him entirely when he was here. I put up with this portrayal of him while he was here but I had strong suspicions all along. I just kept it to myself. I never kissed his behind or gave him any more "just do" than he actually deserved (which wasn't a whole lot). This is why he and I really didn't see eye-to-eye.

I never understood the "fixation" with him in the first place. A cool name and avatar is only a "cool name and avatar" folks ...and nothing more. As you can see it really doesn't mean "jack". Proof is in the pudding, you see.

It still gets me how everyone here makes him out to be this legend.

Get over it.

***Sir Stones Alot used to always attempt to put me down and make fun of whatever I was posting and I never let him get away with any of it. As for those Ian Billen remarks in his signature I took with a light hearted outlook and didn't mind them, really. I figured it was all in good fun so I gave him that much.

Now, I would never even give that much. He was a "poser" if there ever was one.

Well no, ....and yes it does at the same time Zack. Sure it doesn't make us all millionaires. Sure it may not solve any of our problems but coming to Rocks Off to post, entertaining each-other with Stones news, being who you are with your own personality, and not acting above it stands for something to the individuals who post here like you and I.

I guarantee it stands for a whole lot more than someone acts arrogant, overly opinionated (yes, even much more than even myself) , and who loved to try and act like Joe Cool over the top, cut certain people down constantly, .... only to pull out because they feel they were above Rocks Off. In reality . . . . shall we say .... I consider him to be phony.

Zack I don't get off talking about people in a non-positive light. I don't point the finger (unless it really warrants such as in this case).

But if their is one thing I don't like it is someone who is a phony.

The Verdict is in and has been for a while now.

In a Final Note On Sir Stones Alot from myself:

Look, don't get me wrong about this. I certainly don't wish any bad on the guy. Actually, I hope he is happy where-ever he is and I don't wish any ill-will upon him. That is the truth. However, I did loose a certain standard respect for him in his departure after how he conducted himself on the board and as well in light of his reason for leaving which was basicially he just didn't feel the board was up to snuff (Hell, and he is???  If anything he is the one who is not up to snuff based on how and why he left).

ian dear....do you think that perhaps the reason SS rode you alot is because of the reactions he got such as the three post overanalyzation you've exhibitied here?

I did not really care about him "riding" me as you put it, when he was here (by the way, I'd like to see him return and try that now....if he actually had the nerve. Let's just say I would not be quite as fun willing as before). It wasn't until he left in the fashion that he did is when I lost respect and quit caring. It's beyond me why anyone still acts like the guy is a regular anymore. That is my point. The guy doesn't post here and chooses not to. Why on earth start a birthday thread about him here is exactly my point especially in light of the reasoning and manner in which he chose to exit here. That's all I'm saying.

before he made his fairie assed exit, SS was an old veteran....dude was around longer than dirt. that's worth somethin', isn't it?

best just to make fun of him when he's not around instead of pontificating on his departure!

gotta admit though...his ianbillen quotes HOF was fargin' hilarious. did you really say all those things you said?

I see your point. When he was here I did not care for his style, which I put up with based on some of the fact you stated below. It is how he kinda said "I'm out" is when I lost respect for him.

Yes. BUT mind you, they were snippets of whole conversations. For example I defended Bonjovi here in saying that they were a "good" band meaning with very good musicians, with good songwriting." I'd go on to say how sure they where wussy's and are a pop-metal mom's band and all that in the same conversation. But I would defend them in saying they weren't "total garbage" as if they were a local washed up dive-bar band and some gave the indication here (and no, I am not really a Bonjovi fan...I don't even own one album of theirs). I was just being realistic. So he would take my statement like "Bonjovi really is a good band guys" and post it. It was more-over that. Sure I said some things but in half those SSA quotes it was out of context without mention of the other half of my statements. See :)

Nope. He chose to leave on a point of principle over his disgust with what the Stones had become, the final straw being their decision to play a private corporate gig for Deutsche Bank in Barcelona.

happy birthday, SS.

Now to celebrate your birthday I think it is time to tell you the truth... to meet you in NYC before the MSG show in 2002 was such a scary experience that I got lost and saw the show backstage from the nearest bar to the MSG  :Youmakeagrownmancrylikejoey

Now, seriously I got stoned/drunk/wasted to the extreme so I couldn't find my seat next to you and I missed the experience of sharing a stones show with yor Sir! What a pity, 'cause you rock

At least we met some minutes before the show as you arrived late, same as Riffy

Have a happy birthday  :willya

_________________________

It isn't fairie. It is realism. No they are not a "horrid band". They got talent. You may not like them. They may not be your style. I laugh at them too. I make fun of them as anyone but I will not say they are talentless or can't write music or play their instruments well. I used to make fun of my one friend who bought Bad Medicine in 88-89 and that was back then. Bonjovi put on a good live show (no...I'd never dream about buying one of their tickets) and they have stood the test of time. No I don't turn up the volume when I hear them on the radio but I won't deny they aren't pretty decent in the song writing category as well. As for me I can listen to their songs and that is it. Would they make my top 20 bands? No. Top 30? No. They aren't on the list because they aren't a consideration for me but I surely realize and won't deny they are probably better as a group of musicians/working band than anyone you or I know that hasn't made it big. In other words ...they aren't so bad that they belong at your local corner dive bar.

I will be the first to say that. That is all I'm saying and that is all I ever argued for in their favor. Starbuck, you and others should be as realistic about that is all I noted.

I understand where your coming from, but you've missed the point. I understand yours. Heck my cousin told me last year he liked Creed and buys their CD's and listens to them at the gym.... (I know). I told him "why don't you just get it over with and turn into a Bonjovi fan".
