Ok, SAL getting massive promo here. Last night was the preview night. Alas, just couldnt get to IMAX like Daethgod's and my buddy Matt did. Spewing, but thats life. Suburban cinema for me. I wore my VL spiky tongue long sleeve t, and wifey wore her BITCH red t. So, yeah, she got the looks! hahaha. Sat in a bar next to cinema, and "Kenny" liked what he saw. He actually moved seats to stare at wifes boobs. Cold night, so nipple ring was outstanding. Anyway, got our free t=shirts. Cheap, but free.
One feeling i got was the stage was just not big enough for Jagger. Whether thats a plaudit or a critique, i dont know. Sometimes, he seems to be flapping away, dying for a 100 foot run. He runs to the front of the stage, but seems to be cut off. Needing more. But fuck. he works this crowd! He charms them. He...well...he owns them. Fans. sure? BLonde ring in's? with low cut jeans and fashionable tattoos? Sure. But he WINS them! He OWNS them! Odd thing about this show is how quiet Ronnie is. WOW! What a fucking great movie. Ranked as easily the best and most intimate Stones pic. In fact, i cant believe it. They just own the stage. But yeah. the young blondes down front was a disgrace! hahahaha. Cant say too much as some fellow Aussies are yet to see it, but this film is amazing. To see Jaggers fillings! Fuck, its Soooo intimate! All the guests were a waste of time. I know all rave about Buddy, but i thought it was too sloppy. Good coke the bloke was on, but just didnt last the song. And his long stares were just un-nerving. I felt like a car jacking was to happen! Jack White, a scam artist as far as i am concerned, just spat everywhere. A tip: Weird hair does not justify a career, as your last album testifies. Join the Strokes in the "Next big thing that is now passe" group of bands. Thanks. Keith is surely a God. Maybe THE God. YAHWEH! This guy just defies the rules of nature. He was having a ball. FARAWAY EYES shows just how deep he and Jagger are. Keef's playing is , welll, amazing! His interaction with the crowd made me tear up more than once. Keef could fuck a stone statue and make it cum. He rocks in this film. He staggers and stumbles and just simply lives up to his name. KEEF RIFFHARD. The last shot of him onstage is mindblowing! But, his hilarious "Make sure my robe is on right" comment backstage is pure fried gold! This movie is THE Stones movie. NO bluster. No fireworks. Just the Stones destroying a crowd. You cannot get more intimate. You cannot get closer. Its so cluaustrophic, so close, it just... it IS! Kudo's to Scorseeseeseeseesee. He knows his shit. The final shot is worth a thousand shots. I cried and my wife teased me! |

Corgi nice review so glad you enjoyed it! You do need to see the IMAX just for the sound. In hindsight the bimbos should have been topless to have earned those precious seats. Then I wouldnt have minded!

SAL is opening tonight here. I'm working late, I have nobody who'd bother to come along and I thought I'd check the movie out over the weekend...
Corgi, now look what you've done. You're making me wanna drop everything, put on a Stones t-shirt, go grab the best seat in the cinema and watch it two times in a row. Honestly. We're lucky. They really are the best band in the world. |

i am not so sure about the pretty gals up front being a disgrace.......you have a problem looking at pretty girls or something?
and your buddy guy comment was interesting...about the longing stares. i can sort of relate to that. but that song was one of my top 5 faves in the whole movie....rocking blues at its best. anyway, glad you enjoyed the movie. :areyoufuckingserious |

She thought i was a fucking maniac crying about a movie about some old geezers. My voice actually croaked when i mentioned the last shot! hahahaha Oh, and if it's a horror movie you want, check out REC. It's Spanish and brilliant! |

Silly fag on Ernie Sigley's dreadful show actually gave it 8/10 today. That totally floored me. Sigley is such a dickwad. When the dude was commentating about the extreme close ups showing Jagger's filling, Ernie Sick-leave said he looked so old due to smoking.
What a maroon! Anyway, 8/10 is great. I hear nothing but good things and as i am sure Daeth could attest, at least in Melbourne anyway, there is a great buzz about this film. Got a great review in Sunday's Herald Sun by old man Clark Forbes, which surprised me too. He called it the music film event of the year. So fuck off U2! |
Title: Re: Corgi's SHINE A LIGHT EXPERIENCE Post by Deathgod on Jun 2nd, 2008 at 8:17am
yer only sucky thing in imax was they were playing U2 while we were waiting for SAL to start.
Tho before we went in we could hear a heap of people clapping (up near museum) and i told my peeps 'listen to the applause - they must have just announced that U23D is closing ......" fark it, it was funny on a Sat arvo :aimama dont ya hate how these knob jockeys keep crapping on about ' Micks fillings ... closeups of wrinkles ...etc ' get off ya asses and get into the cinema - and experience what it is all about - THE FRACKEN BEST ROCKING BAND EVER PUT ON THIS PLANET going at it. each day i pick a new fave from it , todays - SHATTERED ! |
