Just curious, with smoking being a big no no in society, I quit for 4 years back in the 80's, but started again, & been smoking since.

Nope. Never have, never will. I try to do everything I can to ensure good health. And even with all that, I still got cancer. :( But I feel that I just want to do whatever I can do.....ya know?

My mother and her mother in turn are in Stage 4 cancer because of smoking.  I vaporize exclusively since September 2005.

I quit, again, back in February.
When I see people smoking, I think they look stupid... I thought this for a ong time... Myself included.

Nowadays when i see my glamourous friends lite up, I imagine a really hot woman, naked and telling me to jump on, perfect breasts and ass, beautuful face... and a vagina with herpes, yeast infection and AIDS...

Been smoking for almost a decade now and despite ban in public enclosed areas last July here in England, I have no intention of giving up until that moment when I truly want to of my own accord. I'm personally sick of the health Nazis portraying us smokers as pariahs to be honest.

I don't smoke, but I agree with you on the massive hysteria people are on about smoking. Very hypocritical and fake.

Cigarette smokers are pariahs.  Smokers toss their butts everwhere, thinking the World is their ash tray.  the sides of most roads are littered with butts that will not decay for years.  It is a disgusting habit that harms those who have to work in those few (backward) places where it is tolerated.  You want to light up?  Do it home.  Smokers lose their sympathy from me when I see them flicking their butts any old place.

back in the day our school bus went through a predominantly black neighborhood to pick up the school children. They were always picked up last in the morning, one of the children used to have a saying that he always said on an almost daily basis, "we smoke more dope because we have more dope to smoke".

I hate to moralize and it's your f'n life, but they will take ten years off your life.  My father, who was a regular smoker from his teens, died at seventy.  He should easily have made eighty.

Totally agree with that...
I smoke a pack a day and I don't see no reason to stop so far...
Smoking kills? Right, drinking kills, eating fat kills, driving kills, sex kills, drug kills, not eating enough vegetables kills, not being in shape kills, bacteries kill, lazyness kills...
Freedom kills.
Freedom must be prohibited, so we'll all die healthy and bored.
Healthyness is the 21st century fascism, any law will be approved by the majority as long as it is supposed to make people healthier, whether they want it or not.

Talking about "noxious gasses", if you wanna stop inflicting them to those around you, begin with stop driving.
I have the feeling that shitty air quality in cities such as LA, Paris, Beijing, Delhi, Moscow or Mexico has nothing to do with cigarettes.
Oh, I may be wrong of course.

I guess it's much easier to blame smokers.

As an intelligent being, I feel capable of making informed decisions. I made the decision to continue smoking. I don't see why I should be persecuted for it.

The smoking ban was originally all about preventing the dangers of 'passive smoking' That is fair enough, but it is becoming an intolerable morality issue.

Your point about butts being 'everywhere' is a result of the smoking ban. Just where are smokers meant to flick them when there isn't adequate provisions made?

You’re an ex-smoker. The most intolerable jumped-up bunch of the lot.

Wrong.  I've never smoked cigarettes in my life.  A lot of weed and a few dozen cigars, but NEVER cigarettes.

I smoke a couple a day unless I'm at a bar, in which case my consumption goes up dramatically, or if I'm DJ'ing at a bar, in which case my consumption goes up megadramatically, as I am usually drinking free.  Booze makes me smoke.

A friend of mine has one of those vaporizers - amazing machine - clean and mighty.  He calls it "The Ridiculator".  If I ever divest myself of my Nasty Habits I'll probably invest in one.  But then again NOTHING makes me want to smoke cigarettes like  :weed does.

A lot of weed and a few dozen cigars? Oh, so thats OK then  ::)

lotsajizz, we are just going to have to agree to disagree with this one. I have a close friend who has very, very similar views to you. I choose to just smoke well away from him. Saves the arguments!  ;)

I live in North Carolina - the heart of tobacco country.  It's going to take more than science and a bunch of crybaby health nuts to universally wipe out indoor smoking here! :wtf1

it all depends on the person and their lifestyle. My grandma smoked since she was 9(!) and she's turning 91 in October. She still smokes more than a pack a day. And in the old days she rolled them herself so no filter. Then again my mom started smoking at 15, stopped at 40, and got lung cancer when she was 48.

Well they certainly go well together. I'm actually pretty good when it comes to smoking and drinking. Since the ban, I've trained myself well to go without a cigarette for the first 2-3 pints.

I may still smoke, but I'm not sad enough to spend the whole evening outside smoking in the freezing cold - as plenty do.

30 who don't smoke, compared to 15 who do, you certainly don't follow Keith's lifestyle?? I guess being a rolling stone fan is not being like your heroes?? your big Keith fans, how do you feel about his smoking?? I guess when it gets down to it, it's the music that counts, it's funny the day it was posted Ronnie had a cigarette in his mouth.
