Well not racial exactly. They closed all the roadside picnic areas and rest stops in Maine because folks didn't appreciate little kids watching cruisers suck each other off in public. |

My Mom told me as a kid, I could ruin a niggers picnic, so I'm saying "Yes", there's some kinda racism in there... Me, I don't give a fuck, b/c some niggers ruined my chess tournament and hockey skills competition!

I can't for the life of me see any reason that this word would be construed as racist. Unless one tries to imply that it is an abbreviation of the very racial term "piccaninny". However, according to wikipedia there is no relationship between the two words. So the short answer is, no. There is no racial slur implied or derived from the word picnic. Glad to be of help.

If any connection between the word "picnic" and Leiber-Stoller's lyrics for "Down Home Girl" can be made, then there's a case. I believe this is where MJ learned to write a lyric like that in "Brown Sugar," in a more political age.
There's a whole book to be written on the songs that white songwriters wrote for black acts, all the way back to vaudeville and minstrel shows. And - as said here frequently to thundering inconsequence - MJ is the Jolson of the Rock age. |

The only reason i dislike the term picnic is because it give me lame images of sitting on a checked blanket eating cold chicken and of trying to be romantic when you'd rather be down the pub drinking VB, maybe watching some strippers, and THEN going home to the Mrs to plug her.
And if anyone thinks thats racist...blow me. I am sick of this crap. When will it bloody end? White is right! |

you tell em corgi ;)
in any case...i lost the argument. our picnic is now an outdoor gathering. even this left leaning liberal is left scratching his head.... snopes will help explain: http://www.snopes.com/language/offense/picnic.asp |
