Oh hell yeah. You're talking with the biggest Canadiens fan at Rocks off and biggest hockey fan here period. I like American sports too (love football and baseball, basketball is cool but I don't have a favourite team and I'm not about to start now considering I wouldn't know who to cheer for), so I'm not pure Canadian folks. I welcome the Flyers and just hope they don't resort to their usual plethora of mugging and violence.

I won't be watching.  The NHL playoffs are a bit of a joke, thought they are not as bad as they used to be.  I remember a few years ago, when just about every team made the playoffs.  Sixteen teams making the playoffs, makes the regular season seem meaningless.  The old system in MLB was the best.  The best team in the NL vs. the best of the AL.  Makes every game mean something.  Those days are gone.  Its all about money.

Best of seven in every round makes it even worse.

I like it better than other playoffs because more upsets can happen plus you don't need just 11 wins to have it all. 16 teams make it because it is 4 rounds of best-of-7. The NHL owners are too accustomed to playoff gate so don't expect the greedy hogs to let it go down to a small group of elites playing for the cup. Playoffs are a real grind and test of fortitude by being so long, IMO.

P.S. Go Habs, up 1-0!

i enjoy hockey more these days for this reason
i remember back in the day, it seemed, as soon as the ref droped the puck there would be a whistle.  it was so boring to watch and no play.
now i have noticed i gat 4 sometimes 5 minutes of play time and by the time it is over with the players look like they are ready to keel over.

I don't like the shootout.
It's like ending a baseball game with a home run hitting contest.

BTW, you do realize that in those 4 or 5 minutes of non-stop action, the same guys aren't out there that whole time, right?
