Guess what?

We can honor your post count from the old board!!!

We have our own account and also a common account "Unholy  Trinity", we are just "global moderators" while "Unholy Trinity" is the admin of the board. With this account we can set the number of posts in your profile, bt you cannot do it

The bad news is that this will take a long time for us to do it. Probably will do it but must be before May 9.

If we have the time...

1.- We will open the old board again.
2.- Then ask you to post only one message and only in the same thread
3.- The message will be only something like "I want my count back- my username in the new board is ####"
4.- Then we'll see the true post count and edit their profile using "admin" account and adding the count you have here.

If we had the time... We're now more than 300 members  :-/

thanks for the offer, but personally I could not care less how many counts I have had in my previous RO life.
most important is that I prefer the layout of this new board to the old one, now I can choose the white background, which is easier for me to read........
thanks everybody for putting such bloody hard work in it!

Voodoo..COME ON!!!!

I think it is absolutely RIDICULOUS for you to spend time restoring our post counts (or anything else)from the old board and I bet I could even get the" high rollers" to agree with me.

For Christs sake, this is your HOBBY not you JOB!!!
And I wish people around here would remember it.

This seems like a real waste of time to me.  If our posts are up in the archive, anyone with any real interest in the "history" of RO will be able to see who posted what when and where, and anyway at this point the hierarchy is already beginning to reestablish itself.

If it was decided that post count reestablishfication was important, you shouldn't have to go to all the trouble of opening the old board.  In fact, have you tried putting any of the old RO pages up on your website?  When I did a test page from my old board, you could still read post counts and stats at the bottom of a user's profile, so the proof is right there.

I firmly believe that you should be judged by the content of your posts, not the number by your name.

Seems like your time is better spent learning how to improve/maximize this board, getting the archives up (that's gonna take a minute), making new emoticons, taking crazy drugs, or hanging with your lovely family.  Because, IMHBCO, lamenting lost post counts is  :'( over spilled milk and  :warhorse.

No, the archives don't have the number of posts see for example the last archive http://novogate.com/board/968/Archives/04-16-2008-1208364379/

Sorry, Voo - I meant the actual last three pages of topics that got saved by Novogate when they sent you the zip file of the old RO mb.  When you get those pages working w/i RO they should show the post counts on the "last days of Novogate".

You're right - archives don't show post counts.

The guy at Novogate told me that they are going to send the zip files of the archives only, not including the three pages with active threads.

Did you get the zip file of your board?

Yeah, I got ZIP files of my entire board, including my first three pages.  They did not, however, include index pages, so I actually had to manufacture index pages based on the code for the extant board pages.  I copied the code and put it in Dreamweaver and changed the links around so they'd agree.

Now that I think about it, since the board is closed down, that is going to be tough for you to do - it looks like all the posts got deleted or something, so there's no code to copy.  Yikes.

Also I had to do a little extra work with the archives pages - they were in separate files and linking to them was wee tricky.  But I only had FOUR archive pages in my index - I was a Monkey Nazi and made those other monkeys not start threads, since archiving got rid of the pictures, etc, which made a fictional board of posting sock monkeys pretty irrelevant. :D

Anyway, here is what I ended up with:

http://www.sockmonkeydreams.com/board5148/index.php

Doesn't "work" natch but it is a pretty decent archive of the novodays.  Now if I could just decide what new board system to go with . . .

post counts are good in some ways, as are the date of registration. lets you know who has been around and who hasn't.

that being said, you guys spending hours on it is probably not a productive use of your time.

i am more curious as to why it seems so many changed their handles when coming to the new board. that is just plain confusing.

if people do care about post counts, perhaps you could create a separate board we could post nonsene on that won't bug anyone! i have a few aliases that have been askin'.....

Voo, don't you dare waste your time with the post counts.

It's rediculous.

It ranks right up there with someone boasting they've got a big dick; when in reality we all know that size does not matter...
