Title: Charlie's Drumming

Been thinking about drummers lately and what makes a good one. Specifically, what made Ringo and Charlie in a class by themselves. Keltner does a good job at explaining why Charlie's drumming and Keith's guitar played off each other so well.

Charlie was the heart beat of the Stones for a long time, thank god for my vinyl Stones collection!

Who am I to question one of the greatest drummers of all time, but not sure I agree. Maybe sometimes, but other times, he swung like no other rock'n'roll drummer. When you listen to Beast of Burden or Hand of Fate, or any number of other songs, he creates this flowing smoothness out of an instrument that is hit hard. I don't hear him playing that stuff straight at all. Steve Jordan always talks about Charlie's swing, even on something like Neighbors.
