Title: "High Roller" 50 years ago, a very particular song in Rolling Stones history Post by Voodoo Chile in Wonderland on Mar 10th, 2025 at 12:44pm
50 years ago, Leslie West (Mountain) releases his second solo album “The Great Fatsby” with a song “High Roller” composed by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, Leslie West, and Corky Laing (Mountain too) with lyrics by Sandra Palmer. This is the only song Mick Jagger and Keith Richards have composed with other musicians that appears in a non-stones album only. Composed, arranged, and recorded in NYC 1975 (Electric Ladyland Studios)
Of course, there are songs with others like Nanker Phelge (the entire band in the early days), Andrew Loog Oldham (As tears go by), Marianne Faithfull (sister morphine), some others with Mick Taylor, Ronnie Wood, Billy Preston, Chuck Leavell, Steve Jordan, and recently Andrew Watt (between some others), but this was recorded for others and composed with others, Mick also play guitar here “High Roller” (Jagger, Richards, West, Laing, Palmer 1975) historically a very particular song, Enjoy |

There are at least 4 stories about Mountain and the Stones on the book "Nantucket Sleighride and other Mountain on-the-road stories"
Here the first, this was by Corky Laing |

Another Mountain-Rolling Stones story, this with some other no-stones related stories, but great stories, one is the reason Mountain broke up, then the Stones related story, in this case the story behind the song on this thread "High Roller", then an irrelavant (probably) story and the last the beginning of the "Riding that train, high on cocaine" story
Don't miss them |

I.ve met Leslie West a few times...a genuinely sweet guy, if not a bit scary looking.
I was saddened when he passed away after a fight with diabetes and such. Thanks for posting this Voo! EDIT: See PM |
