Title: Mick's greatest vocal performances Post by ronnie-woody on Jul 15th, 2024 at 7:35am
Which are Mick's most amazing vocal performances in your opinion? On record and/or live?
Some that immediately come to mind are Let it Loose and Laugh, I Nearly Died, which sadly never have been played live :/ I also like Worried About You a lot and Almost Hear You Sigh (tho that one hasn't always been done so great live) And the ones I personally saw live were Fool To Cry in Berlin and SSOH in Foxboro I'm still not over his performance here and it's been almost 2 years: https://youtu.be/hRpGr4oljUA?feature=shared Also of his solo songs I think his overall vocal range and various styles he is using on Sweet Thing are pretty impressive But those are just those I can come up with on the spot, I'm pretty sure there are loads of others^^ |

Let it Loose
Special mention Jiving Sister Fanny, the song is Mick, if you remove him from the track is like a band tuning, rehearsing or wasting time |

I would say I Think I'm Going Mad

Tbh I think just the opposite of Jiving Sister Fanny ;D Mick's vocals are good but not outstanding cause he is too low in the mix anyway (or maybe that's just my headphones idk) and if you removed them from the track, you'd still have a fun instrumental groovy beat lol
Also I don't even know I Think I'm Going Mad but I will totlly check it out rn Edit: I LOVE it, cannot believe I have never listened to this before, thanks for making me aware of this song! |

There also is a version with Keith on vocals but you gotta fast forwars to about 9 minutes to hear him sing^^ it's crazy how Keith singing it gives the song an entirely different feel from Mick singing it This kinda reminds me of Keith's outtake of Almost Hear Me Sigh that he never put on Talk is Cheap and his lyrics were entirely different...then he showed the song to Mick while they were on Barbados for Steel Wheels and Mick loved it but changed the lyrics and made them 1000 times soppier (obviously xD) |

Title: Re: Mick's greatest vocal performances Post by Paranoid Android on Jul 16th, 2024 at 8:38pm Nice thread!! You're So Vain...Once Jagger joins the vocals...and each time he sings backup, my brain can't hear the awesomely talented Carley Simon. They CRUSH it. Updated remixed version, its pretty good actually: https://youtu.be/j13oJajXx0M?si=Sq280RPH3l2YZBAo Isolated vocals: https://youtu.be/lU2fWzwW8Vw?si=AHxbByYnnj7nM4ll Jagger @1:45 onward |

I never actually listened to that one before tbh, only read about it and that it's probably about Mick, would be hilarious if it was and he sang those lyrics ;D (well it's not like he wouldn't deserve it lol) but anyway, you're right, I basically also can only hear his vocals when he starts to sing, tho I wonder whether that's actually cause his voice is better than hers or because he's louder in the mix ;D

It's not. Carley has already stated its not...Its about 3 guys, but mostly ONE...She dropped a few hints, but has never said it publicly... She told Howard Stern who it was...also told a charity auction winner. David Geffin, Warren Beatty, JT, others... https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-34866406 |

Title: Re: Mick's greatest vocal performances Post by The Wick on Jul 18th, 2024 at 12:14am
So hard to pick. Things like You Gotta Move have such an authentic feel, and for a kid from Dartford, that's pretty damn impressive. Then there are others like For Your Precious Love that is so incredibly soulful or I Got the Blues. An obvious one is Gimme Shelter. Too hard to pick even 10 because he is such an interesting vocalist with so many different styles and inflections.

Totally! This is what I always say! I cannot think of any other singer who can pull off so many different styles, I mean he can do blues and rock'n'roll obviously, he can do country, he can do gospel, he even can do convincing rap style and still, even at 80 years old, has an incredible vocal range, the way he pulled off the falsetto in Emotional Rescue this tour was outstanding... People who say they don't like his voice have not a single clue about what good music is and are brainwashed by the same old same old always equal, nice and polished sounding radio pop |
