Title: Worst Stones songs Post by ronnie-woody on Jul 11th, 2024 at 12:52am
Okay, I'm REALLY trying to work, but what shall I do if I open a new browser tab on my work laptop and it shows me THIS article:
https://www.msn.com/en-sg/news/other/the-20-worst-rolling-stones-songs/ss-BB1idjzR?ocid=hpmsn Whoever made this list is a fucking idiot because at least 15 of those are amazing deep cuts or randomly played rarities ::) Fool to Cry??? They should watch some vids of the Berlin show from 2022 I am STILL in awe of that performance 2 years later, I will never ever forget this, fucking incredible Also Little T&A wtf is wrong with this person, I have never heard this song live before this current tour and also very very rarely listen to it on record, so it was SUCH a pleasant surprise when Keith played it and I LOVE this riff so much! I would give a lot to ever get to hear Baby Break it Down or This Place is Empty or Hearts For Sale live... What are songs that in your opinion actually deserve to be on this list? (Imo most of what's on Satanic Majesties lol) |

This list is a joke. Looks like they just picked songs at random.

He probably just put Some Girls on the list to feign some political correctnes because he didn't dare to put Brown Sugar there, seeing how it's obviously also an amazing song, as is Some Girls...I think people should chill about lyrics and just apprecciate the rock'n'roll |

Nothing worse than
Sad sad sad Wanna hold you Sparks will fly Back to zero Sweet neocon |

Their covers of Under the Boardwalk and My Girl are among the worst things they ever recorded.

I would take any of the songs listed above over Streets of Shite any day. It's the only Stones song that I can't get through and have to turn off. An atrocity.

"My Girl" was Gazza's most hated song (I think) Both songs are really out of the escence of the Stones... bad move by the Unholy Trinity |

:o I love it^^ and so did the guys while recording it, it seems, really like this quote by Ronnie from 1994: "The great thing is that Mick and Keith are getting along so much better now. Whenever they felt a little feud coming up, they would say, I guess we better do "Sweethearts Together", to cool things down. They do nice harmony." They sure do nice harmony <3 that's why I wish they'd finally play Dreamy Skies... |

Im not going to read this "list".
Its from MSN...reeks of probable AI authorship. I do have a few of my own "worst song lists" in my head....which can and do change like the weather But to just name a few WITHOUT looking at Spotify, I say: You Got Me Rocking Doom & Gloom On No Not You Again Rough Justice She Saw Me Coming Living in a Ghost Town - opportunistic and contrived All of DW except Too Rude and Had It w/ You Melody Cherry Oh Baby - while they play it well enough, its a typical Reggae standard done to death by many.. Like when they play Get up Stand Up...total waste of time, IMO Short & Curlies - Though, I once was part of a Shidoobee Sing-along to this (AC 2006)...and had a blast! Honorable mention: Something Happened To Me Yesterday - Kinda strange, Sometimes I like it, as it can put a smile on my face when Im alone but it usually makes me cringe if others are around |

Title: Re: Worst Stones songs Post by ronnie-woody on Jul 13th, 2024 at 6:12am
My list is:
almost the entirety of Satanic Majesties (minus She's a Rainbow and 2000 Lightyears from Home) and almost the entirety of Undercover (minus the title track, which is honestly the only one I like, even Wanna Hold You is terrible, si I agree with you on that one, Goo) cannot stand these two albums and basically never listen to them, and whenever someone makes me try it again and I think, oh maybe NOW I will FINALLY click with it...no, I don't xD |

Controversial opinion comiing up but I don't like Angie or Wild Horses.
Too slow for me. |

Title: Re: Worst Stones songs Post by ronnie-woody on Jul 13th, 2024 at 11:36am
I don't think Angie is a bad song, but it's kinda overrated imo...they definitely have much better slow songs...just for the sake of never having heard it live tho I still wouldn't complain if they played it at a show I'm at, it got quite "rare" these last few years, didn't it? It was last played in Stockholm in 2022 (3 times during the Sixty tour) and 24 times in total since 2013 (261 times overall)
In comparison to that, they e.g. played Bitch (294 overall) 4 times this tour and 32 times since 2013, kinda odd seeing how Angir has over 367 million plays on Spotify and Bitch has only over 24 million...I think they sure could have played Angie at some of the shows this current tour instead of Wild Horses xD (which has over 278 million plays on Spotify, just for comparison) but what I'd rather have heard in terms of slow songs tho is Dreamy Skies or Depending on You *sigh* |

Undercover is ballsy, innovative, decadent, fun, and certainly time capsule worthy of the times.
It is the Emotional Rescue of the 80s (decade)...it was the MTV darling and antithesis at the same time.... But seriously, one of my faves...hands effin down! |

Title: Re: Worst Stones songs Post by Roll Me on Jul 14th, 2024 at 9:15am
Streets of Love for the lyrics alone has to be a consideration. Neo Con was presient.

It appears from the songs mentioned here that none of you have heard the Stones’ very worst song, “Anyway You Look At It.”

'Under The Boardwalk' was good enough to get to No. 1 in Australia. It's a great rendition (as is 'My Girl'). |

Title: Re: Worst Stones songs Post by Rev 20 Redlights on Aug 24th, 2024 at 5:26am i havent read the linked article, so i'll just comment on some of the "worst" tunes mentioned by y'all on this thread... ...ones which also happen to be favorites of mine that i love without reservation, since the day they were released: Sparks Will Fly, You Got Me Rocking, Sweethearts Together, Doom and Gloom, Rough Justice, One Hit, Ghost Town, Harlem Shuffle, Fight, Dirty Work, Cherry Oh Baby, Pain of Love, She Was Hot, Too Much Blood, Citadel, Pretty Beat Up, Angie, Wild Horses, Sing This All Together Streets of Love grew on me bigtime. It is about New Orleans, and it was recorded just prior to Katrina... the lost soul, the streets flooded, the corner store selling voodoo-ish remedies for broken hearts, it all fits like a glove Sweet Neocon i respect because it helped bring down the psychotic wing of the republican party, and because it was a sequel of sorts to Sweet Black Angel -- Condoleeza Rice standing in for Angela Davis My Girl we used to play a lot back then not because it was anywhere near as good as the Tempts, but because it meant to us that the Stones loved Motown as much as we did. It meant the Stones were on our side, as opposed to most of that wussy brit shit |

If I had to pick one from the Brian years, it would have to be 'Sing This All Together (See What Happens)'. I really like much of TSMR, but the album would've been stronger if they'd dropped this track and replaced it with 'We Love You' and 'Dandelion'.

We Love You and Dandelion are great, but so is Sing This All Together. It's intentionally a Leonard Bernstein-type composition, and an excellent one at that |

I love 'Sing This All Together'! It's the extended stoned improvisation 'Sing This All Together (See What Happens)' that I'm not so keen on. The two shouldn't be confused... |

i did conflate the two, sorry about that... well then, this is how i'll do my substitutions... drop See What Happens, Gomper, and Lantern... insert Dandelion, We Love You, and Child of the Moon and for some extra run time, She's Doing Her Thing |

The Lantern is great... so great, John Lennon nicked the "slowed down bells" intro idea for 'Mother'!

Song's kinda shit lyrically, but the hushed atmosphere created by MJ on the verses leads to that astounding moment in the bridge where Keith's lines are punched in, sounding like he's been standing beside the same mic as MJ all the way through. (He wasn't.) A reluctant keeper, just for its technical perfection. Imagine it as a rejected album closer, similar to the purposely treacly Good Night on the White Album. |
