Title: Is Mick's performance more or less spontaneous than during previous tours? Post by ronnie-woody on Jul 2nd, 2024 at 7:12am
I made a personal list of most memorable moments for me during the shows I attended this tour and while doing so, I ended up drifting off to moments during the 2022 tour and then realised a few things that were changed since then (I'm coming back to this)
Over on IORR they were discussing (or rather complaining) these days that Mick's performances are always the exact same, they even claimed he is suffering from OCD or whatever because he always does the same moves at the exact same moments during a song So here is what I'm thinking of it: yes, I have realised, that e.g. Mick is unbuttoning his shirts at the exact same moments during some songs, e.g. SSOH, or he always does the mic lifting pose during Paint it, Black this tour and during the beginning of Miss You he always has his jacket draped over his shoulder, idk if he did this at every other show, but he did at all, or most of, those 4 shows I attended. There probably are more examples but those are the ones most prominently coming to mind rn On the other hand I think that compared to 2022 he became more spontaneous/varied in some things, e.g.: - he was always sharing the Mick with Keith for the same one line during 19th Nervous Breakdown in 2022, now when they share the mic it's more spontaneous, not always the same song every show, and sometimes for LSTNT even for an entire chorus which I prefer because I love when they are doing this <3 - he always did the exact same thing during Midnight Rambler in 2022, it was almost predictable, now it's way more varied, he even changes the middle part a lot and uses different songs to fill in, even adjusting to the city, e.g. the other day that Sweet Home Chicago line Also during Rambler his harp play is more varied, sometimes he drags his solo out longer which is very enjoyable - the fact he added a harp solo to Miss You and always seems to vary it, it got longer with the duration of the tour, in the beginning it was only short, as if to test whether it would even fit, last show in Chicago he played for like 1 minute which honestly was utterly impressive and I LOVED it - not only this harp solo but also Keith taking Miss You seriously really elevated the song as compared to 2022 and makes it less predictable and less boring - he is changing the jackets he is wearing for Sympathy from show to show, not always wearing the same one for the entire tour, also I think his entire wardrobe this tour is awesome as always (meanwhile Keith only seems to have packed the same 3 things he is rotating not even switching his bandana lol) Idk I guess there might be more examples but those are the most obvious ones So I think that while, yes, Mick does some of the same moves every time this tour (which he also did last tour, even more so tbh), I also think that in other aspects he is switching things up way more and making the shows more enjoyable and less predictable for people who attend more than 1 show, you can also tell so from the setlists, they are very varied and their only flaw is thar there aren't more HD songs |

LESS...but Jagger has always been calculated in everything he does, on/off stage when the public is concerned
