Title: I really wish there was an 86 tour

Mick and Keith looked awesome. No 89 soccermom haircut for Mick

The band was tense af and it would've produced if nothing else some really firey and ragged shows, possibly on par with like 72 but without Taylor polishing it

Charlie was on H supposedly, would';ve been interesting to see basically all but Mick and Bill high

Such a missed opportunity, even if they'd just done a limited club thing...And Dirty Work would  be remembered better if dates had supported it

JMO's of course.

Absolutelly, and Keith doing "Too Rude" or the band playing a fresh version of "Harlem Shuffle" and of course some songs from Undercover

Well the reason that all but Mick and Bill were high was the reason they didn't do it, Mick said the band was in a terrible physical state (he probably was referring especially to Ronnie and Charlie at that point, Keith to me seemed at least a tiny bit more put together in the mid-80s after getting married to Patti and having 2 more kids before it seemed that his alcoholism started to cause more problems up until the day he quit hard liquor not too long ago in 2018 than his drug use ever has...)

Plus of course around that time Mick and Keith couldn't even stand being in the same room together for whateber number of reasons, so I'm glad they didn't tour, or otherwise, instead of protecting Mick from a stage intruder by the use of his guitar like he didnin 1981 when they were still fine, Keith might rather have used that to hit Mick on the head due to being annoyed by him xD

I was summering in Europe in 86...weird year for live music, though I did manage to catch Queen in West Berlin and a few smaller shows.
Lots of tours and shows cancelled that summer due to Chernobyl and the fallout throughout the north part of the continent.

86 would've been interesting, but so would 68!  It might've even saved Brian (they toured Europe in 1967 following both Anita going with Keith and the Redlands drug bust, yet audio evidence proves the shows to be exciting stuff).

I do agree with others though, 1983 and 1986 would've been interesting (was Charlie still on heroin in '86? I thought his addiction was around 'Undercover'?).

From Wiki:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirty_Work_(Rolling_Stones_album)

Charlie Watts' involvement in the recording sessions was also limited; in 1994 Watts told Ed Bradley on 60 Minutes that during the 1980s he had been addicted to heroin and alcohol. Steve Jordan and Anton Fig play drums on some tracks; Ronnie Wood plays drums on "Sleep Tonight". Jagger would later cite Watts' personal state as one of the reasons he vetoed a tour in support of Dirty Work in 1986, preferring to start work on his second album, Primitive Cool (1987).

I often wonder what a true Undercover tour would have been like...I love that album...

Would they have brought in the extra musicians and backing singers yet? Or still kept it stripped-back, similar to 1981/1982?

Harlem Shuffle and some of the Undercover songs could not have been done correctly without them.

Considering the stae of the band, chances are the tour would be terrible and they would have been knocked down a few notches, possibly even falling behind Genesis in ticket sales. And it would have completely changed the trajectory. No Steel Wheels for example, at least at that scale.

Now imagine a Mick Jagger US tour in 1988 which was supposed to take place between the far east and Australian legs. When it comes to solo acts that would have come in a distant third behind Robert Plant and Sting which is probably why it never happened.
