Okay after seeing some more pics and also some from the construction of the Sixty stage 2022 in Madrid, I take back my prior assumption from the other thread that this looks like it did for the Sixty stage and am not anymore worried that they might just re-use it...

This stage indeed looks WAY larger and sturdier, it kinda reminds me of the stage Måneskin used during their European tour last year:

https://i.ibb.co/1QNs28f/20230903-175508.jpg

Unfortunately this is the only pic I took where you can more or less see the whole stage (it was giant) and they had 2 large video screens on the sides, I can very well imagine this for the Stones as well, keep it simple but take bigger screens (hopefully) after everyone complained about those 2 tiny Sixty screens

I'm hoping for a different stage design. Fingers crossed.

Going! Also going to probably go see Kane Brown at Toyota Center the night before. Some dude on Shidoobee Facebook Group is doing a power point presentation on the 2021 tour at a library but it's kinda far out.

He seems to have fun doing so, so hopefully :D
In Vienna the day after the show he showed up in some place in the late afternoon where we had been just half an hour prior, it was such tough luck *sigh*

Also in Berlin, in contrast to everyone else, we waited at the back entrance of Hotel Adlon for like 2h but then we had to catch our train and then later that evening we found out that Ronnie came out and signed an autograph to a woman who had been waiting there too...ugh really such bad luck...but we saw Ronnie in front of their hotel in Düsseldorf at least and made it onto the video he posted in his IG story LOL :P

Current weather forecasts differ slightly but all seem to agree, shattered T-storms for most of the day...

https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=29.7608026&lon=-95.3695062

Sunday:
A slight chance of showers before 11am, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11am and 2pm,
then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm.
Partly sunny, with a high near 82. Breezy, with a southeast wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Sunday Night:
Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8pm,
then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 8pm.
Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. Breezy.
Chance of precipitation is 60%.

I suspect Gary Clark will have a larger than usual audience due to the weather.

Seems like the only way we'll be seeing more of the stage is from people working on the inside, seeing how BV and someone else on IORR reported that they went to the stadium yesterday but didn't get close and couldn't stay long because the security people were being very rude...

The stadium in Houston posted a vid of the stage...tbh this was what I was expecting when comparing those first pics from last week with the stage Måneskin had last year and I'm really glad that there are 3 big screens but also it looks REALLY underwhelming, like they could at least put some colourful front up there at the edges or so...maybe something like that stage at Hyde Park, it doesn't have to be fake tree branches but something at least

Damn! They start with a war horse and then just go completely off script! Out of Time! Rocks Off! GOMC is great too! Though I am curious when the last time they played Out of Time on tour. Ages ago for sure, if ever. I saw them do GOMC in Philly on 1999's No Security tour. Mick said it was the first time they had done it in 24 years. Then he joked with Charlle about remembering the words and if Chaz would remember the beat. Great show. They played it a few more times on that tour if memory serves.

Fun show. Keith looked and played great.  Mick was phenomenal.
Short setlist and one Keith tune was weird. Angry and Mess it Up were lackluster. Sweet sounds of heaven was great. Went with my BFF and GF.
It’s been five years since my last Stones show. Hope it ain’t my last.

Other people said Keith looked under the weather and played off...I just watched some vids and I know it's hard to tell with vids but come on, he LOVES JJF and he looked like he only was going through the motions and wasn't even properly there and didn't seem to have too much fun at all...also during Satisfaction, Ronnie was his usual happy excited puppy self and Keith looked like he was labouring hard to even get through the song...so I hope that the fact he only played 1 song and seemed weird was cause he was sick and he'll be fit again for New Orleans and then debut Tell Me Straight <3

Can’t complain… it was a great show after all. I was sending text messages to Paul at the beginning of each song with my comments and in one way, they were in line with the above comments

It was great to hear Rocks Off and Out of Time, the day before I was wearing my Rocks Off t-shirt and singing Out of Time with Gail, Lucille and Bob.

Can’t believe they didn’t play Midnight Rambler and IORR

Wtf… Keith set was only one song! Ronnie looked older and with less energy than Mick and Keith…

If you can, go to see them… I don’t want to say this as many will get angry with me, but this could be the last tour, maybe the last tour, I don’t know

Loved the show, it’s the Stones live you B&B!!!

Well they don't always play IORR it's just a rotation song these days, but I'm honestly so fucking bummed they didn't play MR, it's my favourite live song of the war horses along with JJF...

As I said I wasn't there so it's hard to judge cause I only watched 2-3 vids so far and to me Ronnie looked fine and happy, whereas Keith didn't even smile, he looked kinda exhausted imo and this was only the first show :/

Chanel sounds very very impressive. SSOH sounds even better than the record.

Like the changes they added. Nice to see Ronnie singing back up.

For those who attended, was Mick singing flat throughout? I've noticed that with each tour it seems harder for him to hit the higher notes and on songs like Angry he didn't even seem to try to hit those notes.

Mick just posted this and right when coming on stage for Start Me Up you can see he literally has a black face mask around his right wrist, probably forgot to get rid of it before entering the stage...but this explains everything about Keith and the setlist last night

Also the way Mick and Keith behaved during finals bows (7:15) makes it obvious that Mick wants to keep his distance in order to not get sick too...I really hope that Ronnie does as well tho...

But yeah that's as much as for other people's weird and wrong speculations about "curfew" (if Keith dropped a song due to curfew, then why could they play all songs in Berlin or at Hyde Park where there also was a curfew?) or "Keith hurting his finger during Little T&A and that's why he couldn't play another song" LOL then why was there only one Keith song on Ronnie's setlist? People need to stop speculating and look at FACTS and those all point to the conclusion that Keith wasn't fit last night but hopefully will be in New Orleans

    Eh?

It was played at every show on their last tour in Europe in 2022. It was a highlight every night.

Before that - UK tour 1966. This is the first time it has been played in North America

They had rehearsed 'Mothers Little Helper' as a variable in that slot for that 2022 tour but as 'Out of Time' went down so well they never played it.

The song they played in 2019 to mark the 50th anniversary of Brian dying was 'Mercy Mercy'. They hadnt played it since Hyde Park '69 but played it in Landover, Md. Maybe not coincidentally they chose that one as its a Don Covay song (he grew up nearby in Washington DC)

According to this news report (sadly without any actual concert footage) there were about 40k people at the show last night...BV's list on IORR says the stadium fits 60k...wtf so 1/3 of seats weren't filled...that's A LOT

    Sellouts arent a big deal.

Tickets are expensive, the Stones have been around forever doing a similar show for decades and by now everyone has had the chance to see them.

They're not doing long tours so if they and their promoter reckon they can sell 40,000 tickets in Texas it logistically makes more sense to play a 60,000 capacity venue than doing two nights in a 20,000 capacity arena (which means two or three nights between the gigs)

I knoe they haven't sold out a stadium show in ages but I was very surprised that THIS many tickets weren't sold, I'd have guessed maybe 8-10k tops were left in this economy, but probably it's worse than expected, which is understandeable seeing how fucking TM is charging such nasty fees on top of already expensive tickets...in Europe the prices were what face value is rn and the "fees" are like 5 or 10€...the shit TM is pulling needs to be prohibited...

As Gazza stated, selling out a stadium, really isn't a thing anymore.
As long as you cover your margin, the promoter is happy with all the rest.
It's great news for Lucky Dippers...They have to fill in those gaps down on the floor and PIT.
And yeah, LDs are a way to pad and fill-in the expected capacity if it doesn't quite make it...and there is ALWAYS a seat for a lucky dipper.
With the disclaimer of possible limited views, etc...you could easily end up with a seat behind the stage line with ZERO view.

Lucky Dips, IMO are a tarping preemptive measurement as well as a way to make sure there's no huge section of empty seats within Jagger's sites.

I'll take LDs it anytime instead of buying a full priced tkt.

Yes I agree aboht his general playing on JJF, I mean he didn't fuck up, I just meant that he didn't look like he was having fun, but as I wrote before, he apparently has/had Covid and is still recovering and for this fact and also for being 80 I think he did still really well, I loved his playing on Little T&A...of course it's disappointing, most of all for Keith himself, I suppose, that he got sick for tour start, but I'm sure he'l be fit again in no time <3

Did they rehearse IORR? I suppose so...well tbh I guess they'll dig it out at *some* point instead of Rocks Off...I guess they'll rotate Rocks Off and GOOMC and hopegully also Mess It Up after the way it went yesterday...I mean I was happy that the annoying synthesizer obviously was gone but also there was a guitar lacking and I wish Mick would actually attempt to play the guitar instead of just clapping and waving but I guess he thinks if he doesn't at least so this then the audience reception will even be less...just play WWW then, this sounded great at the Racket gig

I don’t actually think I know how many attended, but 40k seems low, at least visually. NRG holds 71,000 for football. So how many seats are in the end zone and 3 or so sections on the side that are not sold. I saw some sporadic empties high up in the other end zone, the rest of stadium look full to me. It was packed and stacked on the floor and no one around me tried to leave when Keith came on. Impressive to me.

Some thoughts on the weekend as I type. Long ago previous special work plans I was asked to help with were going to keep me from attending. I kept telling myself that I’ve seen them dozens of times in a ton of cities. Right up to a few days ago I kept the tingle at bay, but I finally said fuck it and informed the powers that something very personal had come up and I would not be available to go out of town until Monday or Tuesday. They were not thrilled to put it mildly.
I am retired but work a bit here and there to help with special projects occasionally. I guess I could say I came to my senses. Even more so at this point in time, the Stones are life the rest is just details is the reality.😊
As most of you know, the pre parties are a very important part  of the package.  I hadn’t met up with Voodoo since 2002 in NY. We had a great time talking stories and memories old and new. Dude can dance as you’ve seen. The song was Out of Time from last years tour video. It was great to see Sweet Virginia, the last time being 5 years ago. TomL was the immediate topic as she was giving me the pins. Of course more talk of many meet and greets and TomL stories. I had the distinct pleasure of meeting her husband for the first time also.
I didn’t really know anyone other than Voodoo and SV,
but that was remedied big time. As always exchanging personal stories creating great camaraderie becomes like old home week. Bottom line, it was an awesome night. The five hours or so went so fast.
I got the tickets Friday through AXS at face which surprised me. Found 2 floor b12 a few seats from the catwalk/stage.
To me the concert was great. Yes, there were a few hitches here and there. I think one song Mick looked back because he expected to end but had to continue. I don’t remember which one. The new songs came off quite well to me, but then again I’m just there to rock and enjoy myself. I didn’t notice some of the things others have said. SSOH was off the hook. Mick was on fire and Chanel performed beyond awesome. Lady Gaga who?
Some of those around me asked how I knew every word to every song. Of course I had to tell them about being around since the start and been listening to Hackney for months. I fucked with this twenty something girl’s head next to me when I called it was time for Angry. After the boys left the stage she asked about the encore. When I told here it just has to be another new one, SSOH and definitely Satisfaction. That was fun seeing the look on her face.
Bottom line it was an awesome 2 days in my adopted home town. In some way I can’t believe I was going to follow through with my work commitment. After all I’m retired and life is short. But I did THE commitment that means a hell of a lot more, The Rolling Stones and friends I’ve had the pleasure to know through many many years because of them.
Soooo many memories deposited in the memory bank and more to come.
Repeat the mantra. The Rolling Stones are life…..the rest is just details.

Great summation of the weekend Rick!!
VooDoo asked if I was going after he confirmed with me that he was actually going.
    I (now regretfully) said "no".

Sounds like you had similar seats that we had in Buffalo'15.
If this is the last tour, I am glad we connected back then.
I was sorry that life came up and you missed Mexico City in 2016.

Honestly, the concerts themselves are great, but, YES! The personal connections are in may ways even greater.
Looking fwd to Atl and Philly and meeting up with friendly faces and connecting chat handles with names and faces as well.
