Hi Everyone!

Hope everyone is doing well!  Thanks, Gazza, for giving me the okay to do this. 

Wanted to put a short post here to let everyone know that I’ve put together 2 Stones podcasts! 

One is a YouTube Channel with a lot of Top 5 lists and deep dives on particular subjects.  I have a lot of plans to expand it so definitely bigger things coming up ahead. Hoping to expand to more involved reviews and deep dives.  Right now, it's starting off some basic stuff.

My main goal is to really fill that space for new fans who are just trying to get into the band.  I noticed there hasn't much for new fans to focus on if they wanted to get started with the Stones. 

The other avenue I’ve created is a straightforward podcast that you can listen to on all the streaming sites.  This content will be more focused as podcast content; with interviews and album reviews on here as well.  Right now, Episode 1 is up on a profile of our guy Mick.  Episode 2 should be coming really soon.

It’s still early days so hopefully much more new angles will pop up on both of these fronts!

If you’re interested to jump in, this video is doing the best on the channel.  It's a retrospect on the saga of the new album. I’ve just posted the conclusion in Part 2 today.

Hey everyone!

Just an update that I just concluded a month long celebration to the album Undercover!  I devoted a few different videos to the album including some great talks surrounding the album.  The finale for the month long celebration included a special live stream of Stones Boot Radio---an hour long radio show of curated bootleg cuts.  Yesterday, I devoted an hour to early takes and outtakes from the Undercover sessions!

Another 10 strike. Nice job. In listening to it, what struck me was the evolution from Bill German's fanzine, to fan led sites like rocksoff, to now a podcast like yours. And just like beggar's banquet, it wouldn't surprise me if some of the band (bill, mick, and ronnie in that order) listen in once in a while.

Bill German is one of the nicest fans I have ever met, I'm proud, very proud to be mentioned in his great book! I'm also proud to have "Beggars Banquet" in my collection!

Did you mix the sound in any way? It sounds better than a lot of the stuff the band itself puts out. I can really hear Ronnie Wood's guitar, and he's at his chugging and chunky best here. Really great job.

Great content and great analysis. Have always felt it was an under appreciated album. Lots of interesting sounds and contrary to Mick's later takes on the album, was somewhat experimental. The album probably suffered from Mick's later frustration with it and his objection to Don Was not going in a more experimental direction. For a lyricist of his calibre, and as you point out, there are some weaknesses. Even Love Is Strong, which I love, the lyrics are trite. And the weakness of the lyrics prevent Moon Is Up from being up there with their best. The highlight for me might be Mick and Keith harmonizing on The Worst.

The other thing is that this was the album that reestablished the Stones a bit. It became fashionable again to like the Stones and bands like the Black Crowes and Primal Scream were so heavily based on them. This album reminded people that the Stones were the originators and that their songs could hold up against any of those bands and then some.

Thanks for watching! Yup revisiting the sessions really makes me wonder what a true Voodoo Lounge would have sounded like if Mick and Keith went with their first vision of the album!

I remember seeing bits of this at the time, but not in its full version. Thought you might be interested in light of this topic, although my guess is that you've probably seen it. Interesting to hear Mick's comments at the time about what they wanted to do with the album as opposed to a year or so after these interviews.

Very beautifully done. Hugely underrated album. There were clips in there that I had not seen. The Q Magazine source at the end was great as well. They did a pair of stories, first interviews with Mick and Keith, but the next one was with Ronnie and Charlie, and that second one was the best one.

I met him in Chicago, at Buddy Guy's "Legends", he is a  very simple person, a real legend but an ordinary guy and he plays like a bastard
