Title: TOA VS TOTA
Post by chevysales on Jan 6th, 2023 at 10:33am
A while back here I was in a discussion it may have been with Gazza? I don’t recall.

Either way someone mentioned there was a difference in TOUR OF THE AMERICAS 1975 and another called TOUR OF AMERICA 19??

I’ve searched high and low can’t find it and I know I didn’t dream it so any help?

Some tours had names like the 1971 "Goodbye Britain Tour" or the 1975 "Tour of the Americas", and many more, but none was named "Tour of America"

Here the list of tours with names, those with special names, have the tour name with the year

That being said...The horrible live album Still Life is sub-titled "American Concert 1981"...maybe that is what is being recalled somehow??

Maybe that was a chin-wag about the difference between the 1975 Your, as it happened, and the planned 1975 to of  the US & and and then south of there. (after the US & A).
The book by Christopher Gobbs and Annie Leibotrousers may provide more details.

Perhaps the bootleggers were afraid of violating a potentially trademarked phrase (Tour of the Americas).  Or else - based on evidence from multiple other releases - the cover designers were borderline illiterate and culturally deprived (Tour of America).

Good point, it was planned as The Tour of the Americas as it included Mexico, Brazil and Venezuela, and then only the USA so it became "Tour of America"

Rather than 'Christopher Gobbs' abopve, I meant 'Christopher Simone Sykes' (also author of 'the tome The Man Who Created The Middle Earth')
