I doubt he'd still be alive if he hadn't left.

And had Woody not joined, I doubt the band would have lasted beyond the 80's

So, I guess it's a win-win.

Taylor was so not the party animal that the rest of them were.
He was just a kid...even now, he's only 73 which made him 25-26 when he left the band.
He was barely 22-23 when the debauchery that was to become Exile on Main Street was released.
That was a lot of pressure for a talented kid who was not into the party aspects of the band...
and to have to carry Richards (whether on stage or in the studio) so many times was prolly not the best experience for anyone...
unless Keef just didnt show up, ala GHS, which I am grateful for since that is Taylor at his ultimate best, IMO.

I wont mention the lack of writing credit or some such.
The Glimmer Twin machine is already known for all that
