Title: Mick -- the game. No, really
Post by Freya Gin on Jun 3rd, 2022 at 6:34pm
Talk about a strange game. I ran across this while searching for old games.

From the description:
"Mick is a side-view fixed screen platform game that will likely remind you of Prince of Persia, but this one is more puzzle-oriented and aimed at children, so there's no combat, but still a lot of dungeon exploration to do.

Mick and Masha are children who loved to play on a grassy patch near the woods. Little did they know that deep in the forest lived a wicked sorceress who did not take kindly to trespassers. As Masha picked a magical flower, the sorceress appeared and transformed the girl into a small tree! Then she spirited Mick away to her dark castle and cast a spell on him as well, turning him into a ladybird. Now Mick is alone and needs to rescue himself and his friend."

Website.

Look at the game screenshot. Doesn't the sorceress(?) bear a striking resemblance to Mick circa 1970?

Lol! I hadn't thought of the kid looking like Bowie, but you're right. I'm thinking maybe these aren't coincidences.

Thought so as well, this totally is deliberate^^ maybe the person creating this game watched the video for Dancing in the Street a little too often and that'd what it ended up in xD

For those who are interested in playing old DOS games, there is a ton of information on running them with DOSBox. Sometimes it's a bit tricky-- not every game will work. That site is just one with a lot of games you can download. There are lots of old games on archive.org too. Just do a search and you'll get plenty of results on any of these subjects.

DOSBox works on Windows PCs, Mac, Linux and BSD. (If you don't know what Linux or BSD are, you don't have them.) There's a version for Android too so there could well be one for iOS.

Just a note from your RO computer nerd.
