I need a deluxe box set from this tour. I smell a lot of deep cuts.

It's like a bell went off in someone's head... Just a few points/thoughts from me (gonna try not to be a cynic too much, promise) Saturday 28/5 All Down The Line Street Fighting Man 19th Nervous Breakdown (Europe is gonna enjoy this, we did in the US) Sad Sad Sad (Played a few times recently, quite well, if I recall) YCAGWYW Out of Time (Will be well received, or should be, depends on the fan base at each show) Living In A Ghost Town (This was quite good in 2021, another little nugget for Euro) Dead Flowers Get Off Of My Cloud ( A great tune, slowed down prolly, but a treat none-the-less, IMO Under My Thumb (See GOOMC) Can't you Hear Me Knockin' ( Loved this in 2002, 2015 and I would love it today!) Fool To Cry (A salute to El Mocambo release) Mother's Little Helper (This speaks for itself) She's A Rainbow Miss You Criss Cross (MEH! Would rather hear Plundered or Scarlet if it has to be of that song subset) Sunday 29/5 Tumbling Dice Bitch (Been a while, hope they can still pull it off, Jagger did this with Foo Fs a few years back and it was OK) She's So Cold (Stadium filler at this point) Like a Rolling Stone (Europe fans seem to really enjoy this, no clue why, other than the name) Monkey Man Shattered (Sounds better on LP than live, more stadium filler, IMO) Neighbours (Saw this in Dublin, it was just OK. Crowd was not really into it, only time in Europe leg...played once or twice in US since, I think) Little T & A (Been waiting to hear this again for decades) Slipping Away Hot Stuff (Heard this in DC 94, it was not great...and I think the last time played...hopefully they are taking a queue from El Mocambo and make it great again) Sympathy Sweet Virginia Ruby Tuesday Mothers Little Helper Gimme Shelter Criss Cross |

I can do without "Rolling Stone," "Sad Sad Sad," and "Criss Cross," but overall I'm impressed by the variety of song they are rehearsing. I'm really hoping for "MLH" and "Out of Time" to make the set lists. Those are the two most exciting choices by far, and I'm sure Jordan had a hand in pulling for them.

Swap out "Sad Sad Sad" for "Mother's Little Helper" and "Ghost Town" for another Exile cut and that's the best set list since Hamburg '17.

See, the issue I have with that is that leaves you with nothing (other than 'Slipping Away') from after 1981. I know they are a nostalgia act but its a celebration of 60 years and they absolutely should be playing 'Ghost Town'. It's recent, relevant and was pretty much well-received. |

The 60-40 TOUR!!! I enjoyed Ghost Town last fall...didnt think I would, but it was well received and translated to a live show very easily. I wish Jagger would get this idea of 12-15 songs that "WE HAVE TO PLAY" out of his head. You dont need super deep cuts...but they do have a respectable assortment of post 81 songs to choose from...not everyone's fave period, sure...but these songs always end up on another "Best of" compilation for a good rea$on. I would love to hear a "Had It With You", "Undercover", "She Was Hot", "Love Is Strong"(great harp there!), "Saint of Me" , others swapped out every now and then with a few war horses... |

I understand the sentiment, but if they hadn't played Sad Sad Sad more recently, I would have been as excited by it as I was by Out of Time. I just wish they dug a little deeper into the post Tattoo You stuff. Lots of wonderful stuff there that they haven't even attempted. With the addition of Steve Jordan, it's the perfect opportunity to be a little more experimental, especially if they did more club gigs. Reality is that it will never happen. |
