An intriguing gap either side of Hyde Park 2. I'd guess one might be for a small show to be added later and the other for a tour break.

Saying that, the pre-tour promo last weekend with all the tongues on Euro cities seemed to suggest a show further east of Vienna, such as Prague or Budapest.

Yes indeed. Possibly pulled at the last minute as they're a bit too close to Russia.

Who is going where?

I'm going to try for Milan.  Bern, Amsterdam or Liverpool would be nice.  I really can't afford all of it so as usual I'll try for Lucky Dips and take my chances.

Its a quiet pass for me this time.

I thoroughly enjoyed the show last summer in Charlotte and extremely pleased that I finally got to take my own Glimmer Twins to see the band that has meant so much to me.

I walked into and left the show in Charlotte with my piece of mind knowing that that would be my last show. Of course, I did say the same thing about Mexico City (2016), Dublin (2018) NJ/DC (2019)...But things are a bit different now with Charlie gone.

I am happy and grateful for all the shows, parties and friendships I have made and continue to have with many of you. Its the same feeling I experienced when Garcia died in 1995...After nearly 90 shows, I jumped off that bus, sampled 2 shows of the Grateful Dead spin-offs, but there was something missing.

The Charlotte show last summer was great, but I feel now that I would, in a way,  be forcing myself to have a good time and table the fact that it is now a shadow of the former self playing up on that stage. Closure is a good thing and I feel as if I have it now.

Just my opinion and I hope that Bitch and everyone here who goes (and you should if you didnt go last year) has a wonderful time.

I dont know. I wont be buying tickets this week. My attitude after Charlie died was 'this is the right time for them to wrap it up' and that still holds somewhat, but theres always a pull. Part of it is seeing old friends - maybe for the last time.  If I do go, it'll be one show in London. Main focus is the rumoured indoor show, but if that doesnt work out, I'll try for the 2nd Hyde Park show. First London show doesnt suit and I'll be in Spain the week they're playing Liverpool and Amsterdam, both of which would have been convenient otherwise.

Wasn't going to bother - Charlie gone and don't really fancy another Stadium show - but its Anfield in my home town!!

Ok, so here we go again. Scored Diamond Pit for Milan (for some reason only Pit A was available - well that's a first for me, hope Keith doesn't decide to stick on his side  ;D )

Extremely weird for me sentimentally - will be the first time I'm seeing them without Charlie. What on earth is this going to be like? Back in Italy, in the same place I'd seen them with my now late uncle, hell. Add the corona situation, and this is a whole different, parallel universe.

But still, the rush! The joy, that out-of-this-world feeling when Keith first gets on stage and plays. Well.

All this might just get me to try and score for Bern too! We'll see.

Hope we all enjoy the shows! To this and the next ten tours, baby  8-)

Even at 80, Charlie's passing was a shock to us all.
I am glad I had the closure last summer. I enjoyed the show tremendously.
I even had to drive about the same distance (more or less) it is from Marseille to Lyon.
I say GO...maybe not spend the money on PIT, but go, enjoy.
I think you will be glad you did Egon.

Hope it works out for you either way! :booze

That's actually my advice to anyone/everyone on these boards.

The Stones appear to be Amsterdam as Keith (and Patti), Ronnie and Steve Jordan were at the Rijksmuseum in the city today.

Looks likely this will be where they'll be rehearsing

I always wondered why they never played this song.
Its the most listenable song and most non-uber produced song on the album.
While it still has that Jagger throaty gnarl that DW is drowning in, it rather sounds like an outtake from a previous recording session.
Much better than Harlem Shuffle, IMO.

I am not sure if they started rehearsals just yet in AMS, I would assume yes...but if they are not rehearsing,
I feel that EU will end up with the same setlist as the US with the minor changes here and there as always.
I dont think they are learning/working on 80-90 songs as always seems to be reported.

We are at the 3 week countdown...Do we need a setlist wishlist thread at this point?

I totally love Down In The Hole...I dont think it lends itself to a live show unless they insert it into some other bluesy song ......MR maybe, though some would consider that sacrilege.
If they re-arrange it, it just would not be the same song.

EDIT:
Some Guy...you got me thinking about DITH...

They CAN play it and very easily...DITH can actually be done as the intro to MR...instead of the guitar "tuning" and harmonica tease we get before MR, it can be done by playing DITH (or most of it) with that kick right into MR.

when this tour was announced i expressed great relief because
i thought it meant there would be no escalation of the european war...

but now that a $40 billion escalation is being authorized,
i think it might be wise to consider a postponement

of course you can't say that war is the reason, so just
come up with some other excuse...

you may remember i predicted the 2019 postponement

back then one of the clues the Stones put out a few days beforehand
was this rather forlorn photo from the "rehearsals" (which in reality
had already been aborted)

and so FYI today the Stones put out this equally action-less "rehearsals"
photo with the caption "waiting on a friend"

(in case it wasnt clear, at this point i'm not predicting anything. i'm just sharing a few observations)

Last night I was doing some deep diving on social media, following hash tags and whatnot. Keith, Ronnie and their wives were at a museum in Europe this week. Keith was dressed like Keith usually is these days, complete with that blue fuzzy hat. The woman who worked at the museum put the photo on social media. There was a claim that Melanie was there too.

So to me it seems like rehearsals are going to happen.

also perhaps worth noting:

1) two weeks out and no support acts named

2) for over a month, no mention of the euro tour on official Stones twitter,
nor that of mick or keith

3) the Daily Mail report a couple weeks back that tickets are not selling,
    which again parallels 2019

1) for whatever reason, iorr dot org has now deleted Dandy's post,

Thats terrific!!
Echo and the Bunnymen are from Liverpool.
This is like the last time the Stones played in Coventry and had home town band The Specials open...its a great gesture for all parties involved as well as the local spirit.

Echo ATB released a new album a few years ago that was pretty decent. It went to number 11 in the UK

I'd go see them if they played near by...plenty of good songs in their back catalog.

There's a few newer bands I like to see as openers...Vaccines, Struts, a few others...the Euro openers always seem to be better IMO than the US openers.

Mick Keith and Ronnie just wished Taj Mahal a Happy 80th

look great.

Quite a relief (for me at least) to put the "where's mick"

clouds will stay way over there in ukraine (before
dissipating completely)

rock n roll is on the road again

I am not starting any rumor, but maybe Mick was just waiting for the all clear for a PCR Covid test...I had read ( maybe on IORR or elsewhere) that the Dancer has tested positive for Covid.

I have no idea if they have been together in recent days/weeks...but if that was the reason for a delay or a "missing Mick", that's perfectly fine with me (and the insurance companies).

but maybe all the anti-hype for this tour is starting to make a bit of sense

last tour you'll recall before the first charlie-less show, doubts about the
Stones were rampant and ticket sales were slow

but then they came out of the gate on fire, blew all of our minds,
the buzz spread and the tour became a huge success. Not because
of pre-tour hype but because of their very hot performance

so i guess that's the current strategy. Increase doubts and
lower expectations, then come out blasting and take no prisoners...

If that truly is what they're up to, its quite ballsy. You have to give
them maximum respect for putting that much pressure on themselves
to deliver bigtime, when they could have so easily just used heavy
anniversary hype to move tickets.

Go Stones !

Title: Additional show added - BERLIN, DE, Aug 3 Waldbühne
Post by Paranoid Android on Jun 23rd, 2022 at 7:10am
I saw this posted this morning in Insta.
Is this the makeup show for Berne? Likely not as its 600 miles away.
Is this the extra special, mail it in show, like Hollywood FL was last year?

Will this be the last show ever? If so, strange location for that, so likely not.

Its not posted on RS.com yet (Surprise Surprise).

A show is a show, so thats a good thing.

Still no e-mail, but its on their social media page :

We’re happy to announce the addition of an extra date to the Rolling Stones SIXTY European Tour!
The Stones will play the Berlin Waldbühne on 3 August 2022. Tickets for the added date go on general sale at 12pm CET on Friday, July 1. Pre-sale starts on Wednesday, June 29.

Saw them there in 2014. I'd no interest in the various stadia and fields they'd announced for that tour but this one was the exception. Holds less than 20,000. Natural ampitheatre in the woods near the Olympic Stadium. One of the best venues I've ever been in for a concert.

Had they announced this weeks ago I probably would have gone

The Stones seem to like this venue. It was one of only two arena venues in 1982 (Frankfurt was the other. The Berlin show inspired Nena's no.1 hit '99 Red Balloons') They added a rare arena sized show there in 1998 (even though theyd played the Olympic Stadium a few weeks earlier) and it was the only non stadium/field show in 2014 - and again this year.

Their first ever performance there in 1965 was pretty eventful. The show ended in a massive riot (made worse by Jagger doing a goose-step during 'Satisfaction'  ;D)

If they are to add a show, can't they add one in Greece at long last? ;D I mean we missed a scheduled one out already with Keith's accident back in 2006. Plus I'm getting tired of taking ships, trains and buses to the middle of Europe!

Yeah...living in Greece can be such a drag...LOL
Maybe a beach club date in Santorini or Crete?!?

Trust me, living in Greece is only good for vacation  ;D

But hey, if they do decide to come I can host them in a super mini version of Nellcote in a Greek island, easy   ;D

Needy questions a post like this generates on IORR:

10am local time? I'm in <Pick any city>, what time would that be here?
Will they also offer Lucky Dips? If so, when?
Do I need a code for that as well?
Is the show easy to get to by train?
Is the show easy to get to by bus?
Will tkt prices be available?
Whats the curfew?
Any hotels near by?
Any vegan restaurants near by?
What the bag policy there in Berlin?
Do I need a mask?
What time do the gates open?
Where are the merch vendors setting up?
Can I bring elderly father to this? Will he enjoy it?
Will it be crazy for LDs like in <any city>?

Seeing the Stones there for my 50th show in 2014 was an unforgettable experience. Best large venue I've ever been in for a gig.  Really wish they'd announced this show a couple of months ago.

The choir that they used for YCAGWYW must have had to make their own way home after the show. They gave us all a little treat at the station while we waited for the u-bahn.

Thats me the black t-shirt walking into the back of the shot at 0:38 wondering what the fuck is going on.

we actually managed to get PIT tickets for Berlin yesterday...hella expensive but oh well, this could literally be their last show ever...and after how freaking amazing Hyde Park was, there simply was NO way to miss out on this opportunity to see them in such a small venue (compared to the other stadiums and such)
