Two things that might make me sad about the Atlanta show

1) If mick sings the line "i've got no expectations, to pass through here again"

2) no Måneskin

(darryl jones, take note) Victoria DeAngelis of Måneskin shows you how
to play bass for 13 seconds and get 3 million views...

well... Not sure if the 3 million plus visits in less than two months is because of the bass technique

architecture that somehow, thank the Lord, escaped the torches of those filthy yankee animals

Rev 20 Redlights wrote on Nov 6th, 2021 at 4:29pm:
Mick went out to visit the nude girls today...

...so Mick made his interest more explicit today in Atlanta, at the famously
seedy Clermont Lounge

he also went to fat matt's blues and barbecue to help them find workers

Mick also visited the great High Museum of Art

the work pictured is the "hallelujah door" by Herbert Singleton,
depicting a New orleans jazz funeral

some other works currently on display in the "self-taught and folk art" division...

more of mick's tourism

from the jackson street bridge, best view of the city, constructed in response to
black residents protests after their neighborhood was bi-sected by the new highways,
used now also by daring lovers in the middle of the night, almost no car traffic, just foot traffic

This location also appeared in episode one of The Walking Dead.

piedmont park

atlanta's second-most famous murder scene this year (i've decided not to link to the story).
the victim's dog, who died defending her, has been reported as a ghost in the park.

98% of everything I know about Atlanta, I learned from watching COPS.

The other 2% was from the various Dead shows at the Omni I attended.
I dont even remember arriving/leaving ATL.
Those were the daze...the daze between!!

...which references the giant falcon sculpture outside the stadium

...the largest free-standing bird sculpture in the world. Standing at 41 feet tall with
a 68-foot wingspan, this 73,000-pound stainless steel behemoth is an engineering
marvel. The sculpture was designed and assembled by 32-year-old Hungarian artist
Gabor Miklos Szoke

(i just looked at his other stuff, all big animals in public spaces, but none as
good as this falcon imo)

My feminine intuition referenced the right bird earlier in this thread when
i talked about those filthy yanks

who burned down beautiful Altanta out of pure spite

but the great state of Georgia rose from those awful ashes, like a phoenix

Atlanta from the Ashes, in Woodruff Park

via jahisnotdead-iorr, thanks sweetie RavenXX

Post by Rev 20 Redlights on Nov 11th, 2021 at 2:36pm

hmm, do you know what? look carefully at the background of the official poster

damnation, that's the facade of the stadium

also, the Woodruff phoenix does not have the jagged upraised wings of the stadium falcon

How devilishly clever of you Rolling Stones

You are referencing both of Atlanta's famous birds at the same time

the shape of a flaming phoenix combined with the jagged stainless steel of the falcon

Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle's aunt

and yes i know there are some people who say the Woodruff statue is
racist because it sympathizes with the suffering of the South, and I know
they want to tear it down, but *trying to calm myself* i really don't
have anything to say to people with hearts so cold

*** y'all are Rockstars! hugs, RavenXX ***

MUST HAVE SLIPPED MY MIND:
Atlanta also has a version made of vegetation in the botanical gardens
(which is closest in shape to the Stones poster, so let's make it the 3rd reference)
and an abstract version

TRIVIA TIME: Why the team name "falcons"? and the answer is "For no sensible
reason whatsoever".  Made up out of whole cloth. Surely there might be one or
two falcons flying somewhere around here, like every other place on God's green
earth, but it makes no more sense than calling them the Atlanta Cheese Steaks,
because i'm sure you can find a few of them around here too. I'll tell you the
real reason, which is that the Naming Committee morons thought the plural of
phoenix sounded funny (pronounced fee-nuh-sees) which it surely does, but it
is not the only plural of phoenix because another name for "phoenix" is "firebird"
and that is who we ought to be, and i suggest it every year and it falls on deaf
ears, but it is the hard truth of who we are: The Atlanta Firebirds

No sign of 'Trouble's a comin' now for the last seven shows.  Looks like the 'Tattoo You' promotion is well and truly over and that Keith's insistence that they'll play some of the other 'new' songs from it was just hot air.
