Title: Keith's 'Main Offender' to get an expanded reissue
Post by Gazza on Nov 2nd, 2021 at 1:43pm
Release date is 18th March 2022

https://www.recordshopx.com/artist/richards_keith/main_offender/

The original album will be remastered and there'll be a second disc consisting of 12 tracks (ie, an incomplete show) from one of Keith's London shows in December 1992 (not sure yet if its the gig at the Marquee on 2nd December or one of the Town & Country Club shows on 17th and 18th December)

the 5-disc box set (currently priced at an eye watering €237) consists of the same material spread over 3 LP's and 2 CD's

Here's an MTV Europe report on the Marquee gig. There was a lot of controversy over fans queueing for hours to get in only to be turned away.

On a similar theme, here's a few televised concerts from that era :

Velez Sarsfield Stadium, Buenos Aires 7th November 1992, 'Coca Cola Rock Festival' (96 mins). Broadcast live on TeLeFe (Argentina). I think this was the first performance by any of the Stones in South America and it was the opening show of the 'Main Offender' tour also.

Sporthalle, Cologne 29 November 1992  (80 mins)
'Rockpalast' TV broadcast WDR-TV (Germany)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5Z-8VZ_dLQ&t=2942s

(From memory, this show was a bit longer - and individual tracks are available on Keith's official youtube channel in better quality)

PBS-TV 'Centerstage' . Recorded WTTW Studios, Chicago, 28th December 1992.   (102 mins)  (Broadcast on PBS, 19 July 1993)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZ683r6tAGw

'Hard Rock New Years Eve' - Academy, Brooklyn, NY 31 December 1992 CBS-TV  (32 minutes live broadcast as the clock went past midnight)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mba3Hx73pbI

Orpheum Theatre, Boston 13th February 1993
Broadcast on Japanese TV 'Wowow' special 24th April 1993 (108 mins)

The missing song 'How I Wish' from the same show

I remember another minor story from this gig was Mick apparently left early and it was billed by the media as a snub by Mick. People forget though that at around that time, the grunge and other alternative type guitar bands were dismissive of bands like the Stones, and they had gone very much out of vogue. It was a little later when those same bands talked about what a huge influence that the Stones were that some the Stones came back into being hip a little bit. Hence, the story was not covered much.

Why release a partial gig? Oh yeah, he does that...

I also seem to remember it was in the MTV interview Mick gave after this show that he confirmed that Bill was leaving the band - although it would be another month before Bill himself confirmed it.

Have always loved How I Wish, but to pick a song from Talk Is Cheap is an odd choice, even if it's from the Main Offender tour.

I'm partial to the shows that feature Demon and Time Is on My Side, like Cologne and the Chicago TV broadcast.  Either would be a better bonus disc, or discs.

Keef does not really get the concept of UNBOXING it seems, lol.
He turns it into a personal nostalgia trip instead of focusing on the product and its contents for potential buyers...

Someone send him a fax to explain this to him...

Keith will be interviewed on CBS' 'This Morning' next Sunday (13th March).  Presumably to tie in with the 'Main Offender' reissue.

I'll be getting the box set much later. Amazon usually blows these things out 6-8 months after release. I picked up the Live Winos box for something like $60.

Keith's interview on CBS 'Sunday Morning' today

https://youtu.be/_7Tn37inq0s

the first confirmation that Charlie died from cancer. Keith also mentions that he (Charlie) had a round of cancer 'a year or two before' and beat it, but 'got hit with a double whammy'.

The link contains a 10 minute video interview.

There is something really annoying about Zane Lowe's interviewing style. It just seems like he is super fake but gets away with it.
