We know it's only rock and roll, but it's no small deal that the Rolling Stones make a grand return to Music City this weekend.

The rock legends bring their "No Filter" tour to Nashville's Nissan Stadium on Saturday — their first local appearance since 2015, and their sixth Nashville concert in their 59-year career.

It will be their first, of course, without founding drummer Charlie Watts, who died in August at age 80.

Whether you're planning to join Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and company in person — or just plan to hear their licks echoing down the Cumberland River — here's what you can expect.

Vote for your favorite
Several of the Stones' greatest songs tip a wide-brimmed hat to the sounds of Nashville, and you can definitely plan on hearing at least one of them on Saturday. Which one? That's up to you.


On this tour, the band is letting fans cast a vote for a song to add to each concert's setlist, and Saturday's ballot is full of country-leaning songs.

You can choose from "Far Away Eyes," "Dead Flowers," "Let It Bleed," "Sweet Virginia" (our pick), or the song that already has it in the bag, "Wild Horses."


In 2018, Jagger told The Tennessean about the early influence of country music on the band.

“Keith and I particularly were interested in country music (growing up). These songs were popular. Unlike the blues, which was a bit hidden in people’s minds, country music and the big hits that those people had were very much in the mainstream.”

Here's hoping "Far Away Eyes" wins, if I have one complaint this tour it's how safe and boring the set lists have been. Be super lame if "Wild Horses" wins again.

As you can see, barely 20 years old and the stadium is already an eyesore,
ranked as one of the worst in the NFL, with negotiations underway for
either massive renovations or a new stadium. So Mick is also making

Hello from Nashville - last night's pre-party was a really great rooftop venue featuring a cover band "Music City Stones" who did a great job of entertaining us. The city is packed with people and cars. Cops blocked some streets so people were walking and dancing in the streets. The city has grown so much since the last time I was here in 2015. Booked a room in Margaritaville close enough to walk to the stadium.  I'm hungover good thing I have all day to recover!  We should get Dead Flowers but alot of people voted for Far Away Eyes. They should really do all 3 counrty-ish tunes including Sweet Virginia. That would be great but  doubt that will happen. Whatever, I'm happy to be here! or anywhere

1) keith's vid is NYC with his daughter

2) there's an argument to be made that "rocks off" is being rehearsed
not for nashville, but for one of the l.a. shows

Be cool if they bring back "Brown Sugar" immediately after Mick and Keith addressing its absence in the Vanity Fair interview. And "Rocks Off" would be nice in the second spot, or I guess they could drop "19th Nervous Breakdown" (though I really don't want them to). With so few rotating slots on the tour, they should use the "IORR" / "LSTNT" / "YGMR" slot for similar songs of that nature ("Rocks Off," "Shattered," "Cloud," "All Down the Line").

3) the sound is bizarrely good in that soundcheck vid. i'm having trouble believing that
the sound was recorded from the same place as the video. although the alternative, that
the sound was recorded much closer, is even more bizarre, given that the feed i think
was live on facebook

there is a david watson who is the leader of the Watson Brothers Band, out of nashville,
who do southern rock and blues, and who have a following, and connections

1) its less of a sing-a-long now and more of a jazz work-out.

2) Darryl's been inspired by Steve i think to both pay more homage to Bill's original for the
first part of the song and be more showy and relatable during his solo.

3) mick gets physical again with him at the six-minute mark. i think mick only teases a

Fucking great! The Shidooobees were using new technology with posts that you could actually see the show. Our sister site is brilliant, dudes are light years ahead of us. The still posts were live. I'm exhausted and I watched from my couch.

Hell yes, things have changed, songs are morphing, maturing and at the same time recharging. The Steve Jordan dynamic is a big adjustment for the band. You can tell they had to be really paying attention to every note and can no longer go on auto-pilot with Charlie as the heartbeat and backbone of the band. That's completely gone now. I'm here to report to the fans that the show is not as predictable as it was in the Charlie era. It's NOT the same and it NEVER will be again. It's a new Stones era, I accept it and give them a lot of praise and respect for keeping the band rolling.

Overall, the show was a surprise. The songs I usually don't like, I loved. And the songs I normally, love. I didn't like as much. They break it down during Rambler and Miss You so those songs showcase the new interactions within the band members, all of them were doing something new including horns, keyboards, and back-ups. YCAGWYW was well played and Dead Flowers was the song vote. MICK showed some vulnerability' short of breath, spit on stage, drinks alot from a plastic bottle, and chewing gum on stage which he hasn't done since the very early years.

Connection...very nice indeed.
I saw that in Atlantic City 2006...it was a special surprise then...it's even more amazing now.

This appears to be the best, tightest show yet. Keith was on fire; I LOVED "Connection"! It was the kind of 'good' sloppy I love from the Stones, where they're really flying by the seat of their pants and hanging on for dear life and just about survive. Mick's coat during "Sympathy" was beautiful; his voice seemed off though, particularly during "YCAGWYW." Choppy inflections and shortness of breath; I noticed he didn't run during "Jumping Jack Flash" like he's been doing and seemed less active in the videos.

I second Norma's question. Also did anyone mange to capture more footage on more of the right side of the stage and not in the pit either?
It is hard to find footage of anything happening in the A/F pit areas that weren't far from the stage. If anyone has videos whom were in the first Upper section or more behind the pit on the right side of the stage let me know I would be incredibly grateful.
