Title: 50 years ago... Blame it in the Stones - The Isle of Wight Festival Thread
Post by Voodoo Chile in Wonderland on Aug 25th, 2020 at 9:06pm
Today 50 years ago, the third Isle of Wight Festival started, that day Kris Kristofferson played “Blame it on the Stones” (a song with special meaning to Rocks Off regulars LOL).

Due to poor sound, the audience was unable to hear his set, and it appeared that they were jeering him. He was eventually booed off the stage because the audience could not properly hear his song "Blame It on the Stones" and ignorant members of the audience assumed he was criticizing our Rolling Stones!!!

Thanks to  former Rocks Off regular and great friend "Nasty Habits", we have a CD with a compilation of songs talking about the Rolling Stones, now it’s time to make a second CD (now a playlist), adding a lot of more songs like the GTOs, Patti Smith, etc.

So let’s go get dead-drunk, 8-miles high, have unconventional sex and play loud rock and roll, after all we can blame it in the Stones for that and for everything!

Here the song, as played on August 26, 1970, from the Triple LP “The First Great Rock Festivals of the Seventies", enjoy

What an amazing gathering of bands. Was hoping there would be an expanded release of the Murray Lerner film or something to mark the anniversary besides the cancelled gig.

Sinner boy was a highlight for me, also for the producers and of course I played it yesterday

Here's the program, listen loud babies:

  • Emerson, lake and Palmer (second show, introduced as their first ever) The Barbarian
  • Three songs medley
  •     - Kris Kristofferson - Blame it on the Stones
  •     - The Voices of East Harlem - For what it's worth
  •     - Gilberto Gil & Caetano Veloso - Shoot me dead
  • Taste - Sinner Boy
  • Family - Weaver's Answer
  • Ten Years After - Extension on one Chord
  • Donovan - Catch the wind
  • The Doors - When the Music's Over
