Title: Suggested follow up to Blue and Lonesome
Post by KMC on Apr 15th, 2017 at 4:44pm
How about taking a week to do a "Rock N Roll Tribute" album?
Start with some lesser known cuts by Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley. Then go through a list of classic artists like Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Eddie Cochran, Carl Perkins, etc. Finish it off with cuts from obscure artists that are personal faves.

Personally, I could go for one with all Chuck Berry, but here's to some variety.

Just an idea while waiting another year for the next new album.

They should do an All Sinatra cover project...or maybe Sinatra/Bennett/Anka for good measure...

Eff it! If they are going to expend ANY creative energy let it be for their muses...even if it turns out to be ABB pt2...let them own it up! ||||||^^^^^^||||||

Sorry, but I'm tired of waiting for a new album. It takes two years to get  ten new freakin' songs together?
In the meantime, give us more solo albums. Open the vaults for material pre 1970. Klein is dead. Work out a deal with his kids. Anything but more live albums with the same greatest hits over and over again.

Dylan beat them to Sinatra. Maybe they can go with Elvis or Beatles covers.

I don't know if covers are a good idea-- I guess it would depend on how well each was executed-- but after all the deaths, a couple of tribute songs might be in order.

Chuck Berry Tribute Album.

I think their pencils for writing some
really good new songs are  empty.

Didnt they STOP playing Berry's music because the licensing was incredibly overpriced?
Wasn't Berry trying to change them something like 10K /song to perform it?

Gazza??

Is this Android making shit up again???

Not what I meant. I was thinking of them writing a song or two as tribute to some of the artists who have died recently.

They've spent 50 years playing Chuck's riffs. Any song they write about women, good times, parties, etc. is all a reference to Chuck as it is. Chuck wrote the rule book that the Stones still use to this day.

I don't think there's a Stones album that doesn't have a nod to Chuck somewhere.
