Title: Looking for someone to talk about The Rolling Stones 'Angie' on our Podcast
Post by SongsOfToriAmos on Mar 6th, 2016 at 3:06pm
Hi everyone. Thank you for having me.

My name is Efrain and I'm the host of Drive All Night: The Songs of Tori Amos. We are a podcast that tackles each of Tori's officially released tracks in order, originals and covers. If it was officially released, we do an episode on it. I'm here because next week we will be recording our episode for Tori's cover of RS "Angie" and I'd love to have a huge RS fan on the show for an interview. We are looking for someone who can give a little history of the song "Angie" as it falls in the RS body of work, and this person must also be able to speak positively of the Tori Amos cover.

If you are interested in speaking over the phone with us next weekend about the track, please email me at [email protected]

The interview should take no more than 10-15 minutes and will likely take place Sunday afternoon 3/13/2016

Many thanks for your time

Efrain

Tori's cover can be found here on youtube

Her version is as bad as the Stones doing it. It's my least favorite Stones song, and Tori does it one better...or actually worse. Her pronunciation is terrible.

But it made money!

I'll do it...here's a quick preview:

It's an overrated and overplayed song, and the only Stones tune I actually skip whenever it comes up.  Blecch.

Angie is not as bad as Stones fans say, particularly Jagger's singing.  The problem is more radio overplay while we were young.  GHS was the trailing edge of the period when they couldn't do anything wrong.  They made considerably more lousy music (by Stones standards) after that.

How much does this radio gig pay?  I need per diem stipend, costs, expenses, the usual stuff.  You come through with the goods, I'll say whatever the hell you want me to say on the radio.

For those who missed it, that's why I can't stand You Can't Always Get What Yo Want. I actually thought it was good song the first 20 or so times I heard it. But when it passed 50 times in the same frigging week, I grew to actively hate it.

Me too! And I've often been told that I have a sexy voice.

I'll see what I can do.  Are you more Demi Moore or more Stacey Q?

I don't know who Stacey Q is. I know you're kidding, but still... All I can say about my voice is that it's unique. Sort of deep yet soft. I smoked for over 25 years and then quit. When my vocal cords healed it gave me this voice. You can hear it here. I recorded that a few years ago and I think my voice has actually deepened a little since then. I've thought about trying to get some sort of voice work before and I used to sing when I was young. I need to get back in practice though.

I don't know who Stacey Q is.

She was a promising dancer and Kraftwerk influenced, baby-voiced artist until it all crashed and burned with her only real hit, the awful "Two of Hearts" and resulting lame promo appearances on the Facts of Life in '86 and Full House in '89 I think.

I love Angie, but I do not love Tori.
Also I do not love it when other bands rape Stones songs.
Cos rape is bad.

Yes, that's who Stacey Q is.  I thought everyone knew who Stacey Q was.  Maybe it only us scholarly types, eh?
