Only the Stones and maybe close loved ones truly know what keeps them motivated to tour.
The enjoyment factor seems obvious but since they only do expensive tours, I'll guess money is the overriding factor.

I'd agree they still enjoy the thrill of performing, even though its pretty evident that Mick and Keith's relationship has been seriously strained for decades - it's too much hassle to get divorced and they're well remunerated for sharing a stage together 20-25 times a year so it makes sense to keep doing it.

They know no other way to live. Its what musicians do. Even fabulously wealthy ones.

The ticket price thing is IMO part-ego related (the high gross aspect is a form of dick-waving) and partly symbolic of people who have been doing this for so many years and been surrounded by people who tell them their shit doesnt stink that they've very little perspective on real life.

I think KEEF does it for the glory, although he will not admit that. MICK does it to continue the legacy and see how far they can take this thing called The Rolling Stones. And they all like being millionaires.

I think that became the lesser priority back in 1982. People, (not everyone of course) complain about the ticket prices, and yet the logistics of getting that rock n' roll circus on the road must be astronomical. Believe me, Americans, Brit's, and most of the developed world pay much less per average for concert tix than we do down here in no- man's land. Any excuse to fleece us'll do. 1,000 quid to see the Eagles? Get knotted!

My mother reads the real Brenda Jagger books. She thought Keith's and Ronnie's 'Brenda' quip was hilarious. Poor old Jag's, they really do wind him up don't they? They should be grateful Keith didn't team up with Elton, or Long John Baldry.
