Title: Running Out of Luck! (The movie)
Post by gorda on Oct 23rd, 2015 at 10:29pm
Last night, I finally got to see Mick Jagger's movie, "Running Out of Luck" on YouTube.  And, I loved it!  It was so funny!  I haven't laughed this hard in a long time!  I wanted to see it again tonight, but somehow they put a block on it.  Oh, well!  Good movie!

Spolier Alert:  The funniest moments:

1.) The news reports in English say, "The rock star is staying in an undisclosed location."  In Portuguese, they say, "He's staying at the Copacabana Hotel!"

2.) When, an extremely-large "Macumbera" black woman catches Mick eating the food reserved for the saints and dead spirits in the cemetery.

3.) The fazendera with the whip!

4.) Jerry Hall feeding caviar to some guy on the plane!

FreeJack is more of an action film.  I have FreeJack on DVD. But, I have never been able to find Running Out Of Luck.  Maybe, one day, I'll go to the flea market or the second-hand store and, I'll get lucky!

'Running Out of Luck' was never released on DVD. I think its safe to say it never will be.

Pretty sure it was available as a home video, though.

It was meant to sort of promote 'She's The Boss' but it came out about two years later or so, by which time no one really cared.

new for $135!

60% of reviewers gave it 5-stars.

So, basically, it's up there with Citizen Kane, the first two Godfather movies, The Shawshank Redemption and Gone With The Wind as a cinematic masterpiece.

It appears the appeal of Rae-dawn Chong's nipples was more influential than anyone could have imagined.

Sorry Gorda, totally opposite opinion. I remember buying this on an almost forgotten format (VHS- isn't it amazing how quickly it went away?) when it came out. If you're not a Stones fan or, as Gazza pointed out, a Rae-Dawn Chong fan, this is a shockingly awful film - even if you are it's horrible. Mick is an utterly crap actor. Yes, I did see The Man From Elysian Fields, and I thought he was still crap in that, although better than his other shockers. At any rate, I still have this movie on VHS. Usually with these utterly crap films, they become "cult classics" after the passage of time, but this was so awful it hasn't even been given that status. Dennis Hopper's even crap in this.

A used copy is less than $14 bucks!  Yay!

I almost want to say that the $134.99 was a fat finger typo that was meant to read $13.49...but i never underestimate the power of internet shopping...post it and it will be bought...eventually....drunk internet shopping can never be excluded from the formula!!!

You're right.  I apologize, I shouldn't have laughed. Violence is not funny.  I don't know why I laughed.  I feel bad now.

Gazza, Running Out Of Luck was a visual, and auditory landmark in cinema history.

The film was extraordinary. It has a whopping 96% positive rating on rottentomatoes.com and Siskel and Ebert cited the movie as their film of the year, (1987) ...and not to forget about three Oscar winning performances and two Emmys.

You've got your '2001' fans ... then you have the 'Citizen Kane' folks and then a large portion of others are 'Running Out Of Luck' maniacs.

Yeah, but to quote Ebert's reaction to his partner's enthusiasm, "Siskel wouldnt know his arse from his elbow..."

[b]Agreed! He's pretty awful as an actor. But it's more a bland attempt at the character each time rather than just inability. Even Turner wears thin quickly.b]
