Title: Stones Jam Session for New Blues Album? Post by gimmekeef on Apr 12th, 2015 at 7:52am
London, Apr 12 (ANI): The fans of Rolling Stones may have good news as the band is planning to meet for secret sessions to work on new song ideas which could ultimately lead to the much-anticipated blues album.
An insider spilled the beans that the band is getting together shortly to go through ideas and the members have tour rehearsals too but all feel the time was right for a new album in a decade, the Mirror reported. The insider continued that the band has talked about a blues record for a long time and it would be very different for the band and Keith Richards is very keen. The news of Rolling Stones' secret get-together comes after Mick Jagger admitted that he would love to do another album and revealed he had been working on song ideas at home. The bands' last release 'A Bigger Bang' was in 2005. (ANI) https://in.news.yahoo.com/rolling-stones-planning-secret-jamming-sessions-album-060458004.html |

I'm kinda skeptical...especially the comment "much anticipated" as if it has been rumored before which other than us hoping I have not heard about this before..

See the thread about the Mick 'Rolling Stone' album
Its a follow on from that, with a bit of journalistic licence thrown in. Especially by the Daily Mirror's gossip column http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/rolling-stones-meet-secret-sessions-5503006 |

Marc Maroon tossed it out during his podcast interviews…
He is one of us, a pretty passionate fan... |

The question that comes to mind is...would these be original blues...covers of classics...covers of little known....or all of the above??
Dont think there is much of a market for this type of album...but I dont know anything. Aerosmith's "Honkin On Bobo" ( their tribute to the blues album) sold half a million in US... |

So is the band meeting in London for this? I thought they were here in the US until next month when they should begin rehearsals. The "Secret Sessions" could be anywhere but I thought it was already established they were rehearsing in LA.

It's merely speculation, Ellen.
I very much doubt they'll put aside much-needed tour rehearsal time to work on new songs. |

Maybe they'll record some basic tracks from rehearsals ala 'Stripped'. Time honored tradition with lots of acts, and 'Stripped' generally got very good reviews and I think sold respectably for a live album.

The key is a producer with balls and that Keith respects. The balls because he will need to tell Mick " that's not good enough, try writting better lyrics or don't be so lazy at the mic. Etc And Keith's respect or lets face it the project has no chance. I vote Jack White

________________________________________________ True ... but there is a basis ... and a strong one in the Rolling Stones planning to record another studio album ... something in which you, and some others here said I was out of my tree for assuming. Grant it ...they sure as HELL have not been in any hurry to do such lol... but they always planned or at least never discounted doing another studio album. Now they are talking about it together ...next they will be doing it (am I still silly for thinking such?) ... .. .. .. - Ian |

Most likely their last album, if this actually happens.
In with the blues, out with the blues. |

As a nod to the Beatles' Please Please Me/Get Back combo (as used on the '1962-66' and '1967-70' album sleeves), the cover should be a Renactment of the same pose that was on their first US album cover (albeit with a slightly different and smaller line up) and the title :
"England's Oldest Hitmakers" |

LOL...Hitmakers would indicate a hit though.....When was SMU out?
Just a thought....any chance Keith has delayed his solo project to maybe include one or two of the best tracks into a new Stones album???....maybe wishful thinking |
